I remember this band - The Punks from when i was 16. I really loved it back then & still do. Here in Australia we used to have some good bands as well. Garage bands paved the way through that crappy Disco scene then to every genre of music. Heavy Metal/ Thrash. History will repeat itself, now & in the future. From an Original Punk.

We started this project without him and most of the footage was shot before he even cake along. You can read about our tale of woe here:

1973? Let’s see... what was popular that year? The radio was filled with soft rock garbage like “Killing Me Softly” and “Tie a Yellow Ribbon”. The heaviest it got (on the radio) was “We’re an American Band” by another Michigan band - Grand Funk Railroad. This must have blown a few eardrums at the time.

Well, this settles it. This is the original band. All the others ripped them off. I hear some DK, some Flag, some Ramones in all this, or this in them. The fucking rip off Rolling shit stone always gives the credit the bands making the big music mafia money , when there are endless bands doing it before them (and I love the Ramones). It's obvious these Kats played to some younger dudes, who took it and ran , including stealing the term "punk". This is my new fav band, all the rest can bow down. @@davesexgang6186 I don't know if this is why the band chose this name, but I was a teenager back in the late 1960s, early 1970s, "punk" was an insult adults would use for teenager delinquents or even just one's who would not conform to that adult's rules, an "insolent" or "disobedient" teen kid was "punk". This is also why Lenny Kaye (in 1972 when he produced the first Nuggets anthology) decided to use the term "punk rock" for a certain sort of raw-edged rock from the 1960s that is now considered "proto-punk".

Check out the song "Drop Dead". I believe it's at 16:48. I think this band is a bridge between protopunk and punk itself. Maybe they were post-proto? 😂
