In the shortest book of the Old Testament, Obadiah pronounces three indictments against the Edomites for their mistreatment of the Israelites. Pastor Gary explains the historical background behind the animosity between these two groups and challenges each of us to not repeat the sins of the Edomites. There is also a Christmas connection in this story that Pastor Gary applies as well in wrapping up God’s judgment against them.

Nobody is getting away with treating others unfairly.
    They just think they are.
God has creative ways of letting our actions come back to bite us.
Thats part of what “The fear of The Lord” means.
You should fear He who controls everything, sees everything, executes justice against anything. And is right about His assessment of EVERYTHING!
“The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom!”

Some commentaries place the writing of Obadiah during the reign of Jehoram, 300 years earlier than this placement. Philistia was pillaging Judah and not only did Edom not help its brother, they actively pillaged when it was over. Guess we're not really sure when it was written.

14:40 I’ve always thought Israel means struggles/wrestles with God, based of gen 32:24? The ESV abd JPS says it means closer to he strives with God

Hello , SIR, I am a Christ's follower, a Christian according to the Bible scripture, I am baptized by full immersion of water and received the holly spirit speaking in other tungs, I was listening to the word about Obadiah, it is really nicely you explained about it, but the ONE Thing you Spock about Christmas relating to Jesus birth, which I believe is not according to the bible, Christmas is never mention in the bible, it's a Catholics festival, and it's not according to the bible and the birth of Christ is not recorded any where in the bible.

Esau and Jacob were twins. Twins, just as any sibling, can look very different from the other. In this instance, one twin had a red complexion, red hair, the other was not hairy and red.

This whole sermon is flawed. Esau is Edom. Which are called Jewish people today. Jacob became Israel. Which are Black people. We are the 12 tribes of Israel. Always have been. We are Jacob and Esau is our brother. He stole our heritage and identity. God will make the so called Jews pay for that. That’s the whole point of the book of Obadiah. Sorry. Just have to tell the truth. Also, Gentiles are White people that came from Japheth. Do your research. Search the scriptures. Ye May have eternal life. Amen 🙏🏽
