I love my Atom, too. They carbonize the Ti liners really well and even if there is some small lock stick at first, it goes away. It’s just such a great design.
I purged almost everything a while back. Out of 40+ knives my neutron 2 is one of the only ones I still have. Needless to say its creeping up there again with all these bada** pieces coming out. Trm is awesome and their 20cv is done great. I believe both liners are tapped and when you purchase one they will tap out the scale. Obviously still right handed liner lock. And yes its all Ti. Liners hardware and clip. And i just cleaned mine out and polished the washers. There are 3 long screws that go through the liner barrel spacers and into the other liner. Solid construction.
You prefer the Neutron 2 over the Atom?
@@2212mjm I do. But only because I rather a 3" blade over a 3.5" blade. But I'm thinking about selling one of my Neutrons for an atom to have both again.
This knife is in my top 5 must get knives right now! I’d also say TRM’s entire catalog is probably somewhere in my top 20. I love their aesthetic, blade geometry and thickness, quality, country of manufacturing, and just all the stuff they offer for such a small operation. Love the review and I definitely appreciate where you are coming from recommending a knife that costs well over 300 bucks to pretty much everyone.

Glad you finally “found” this. Yes, went from an ok knife in G10 to my third fav USA-made knife in Ti. And diamond! Go MC!

Mine in linen micarta is my favorite summer knife. Slim, light, and it cuts very well.
I bought the neutron first and i really prefer the atom over it. I bought orings off etsy (which were cheaper, and more color options), and they took a bit more effort to fit onto the atom (because they were sized for neutron), but it still does the trick-just looks a little small.

My max for buying a knife is $250. I busted that budget to order the Paul Munko PM2, and at some point I'd bust it to order the diamond textured Atom.
TRM bumped their prices recently. It’s now $405 for diamond textured and $385 for smooth.
Have you seen any for sale at that price or just the place holder price?
I went the hard way and got lucky with the Jade G10 knife $210, and was able to get the textured titanium scales $230 1 week later. Total price 210+230=$440 for the hard way. Along with $10 shipping for each purchase. 🤦♂️🤣
Just got back from blade show west. Give me an Atom/Neutron with bar lock, and I’m sold.
A buddy and I were discussing this last night. If they don’t cut out enough for left handed deployment it kinda ruins the experience of some knives with thumb studs.
I Like that Diamond texturing but I Might like the Pinstripe better. IDK whichever is available first since they aerse hard to Get. Awesome knife Mc...
Grab some 6mm o rings for the clip side. Those fit and don’t rub against the scales.

I actually have both in the Neutron and love them both.. Just the first titanium set on the atom but will be getting the new ones once they pop back up again.. Although I love the titanium I actually prefer the G-10 they use for a work knife

The “smooth” contoured ti scales are the pinstriped ones. There are no flat or totally untextured ti atom scales to date.
I have to fall into the "scales made this a different and better knife" camp. I was tempted to anodize the scales, but settled on polishing the pocket clip and it looks great!
I mean, they could just make left hand milled scales. They already make swappable scales. Basically just copy pasta the clip relief program to the other scale. I’m positive that’s how that works 😂
Just my identical version in... awesome, but not a big fan of the handle to blade ratio.
I think it's crazy that the thumbstuds haven't been updated by now..

They release their knives in drops and can be pretty competitive to purchase. I know the titanium variants sell really fast but the G10 scaled ones are pretty easy to get. Just google TRM knives and it should be the first hit

They should make lefty versions, or figure out a backspacer clip that can switch sides.
Also...How about (brace yourselves) no clip?
I think for TRM, though...Their best fix for lefties is to do something with the scales so the clip can be attached to either or neither.
