I was going to lease now that the deals are so good.. all these lease horror stories keeping me away I think. The fact you can’t sell or buy your lease should be illegal.. that’s crazy they remove all leverage.. most companies will just eat any of those fees if you re-lease or purchase from them. This whole process is wild
I wouldn't worry about it. This is basically with any vehicle. If anything, it's more easier to do it with Tesla. But like the guy said in the video, don't modify or change the car whatsoever. And when repairs are needed, call Tesla and have service done to it. You owe them nothing for the service, by law. If you end up scraping the wheels, just eat the fees. Not that much tbh, still cheaper than buying used wheels yourself.
Not a big deal, way less than payments to keep the thing 72 mo. When your out of warranty the costs to repair teslas is insane. Would only lease one. My buddy had a X and after warranty bills fixing $5-10k regular
Yeah, leasing is def a wiser choice. On any high-end car, really. And it's usually way cheaper. Don't have to pay out-of-pocket for repairs either :) And the cool thing is when your lease is up, you can get another lease on a newer Tesla. They might even cut you a deal if you were always on time with previous leases.
Thank for this video. It is so much appreciated. I was thinking about leasing but now I am not sure. This seems like a PITA. I have leased my last 4 vehicles and have always traded them In early for another lease and used the equity I had towards a new lease. Not being able to buy out the lease as an option to avoid these costs or just buy it out because you love it really sucks. Not sure I can deal with that. I like my flexibility.
@@PhonesAndDronesso the Tesla website says you can upgrade to the next car after you return your lease. How does that work? You get anything at all towards the new lease?
Haven't really seen videos about leasing a Tesla, so thanks for posting this vid! Been considering buying or renting a Model Y, but definitely leaning towards buying, especially after factoring in the incentives and seeing stuff like this vid. 👍
Good info to know. My lease ends at the end of September. I do have some wheel damage and it sounds like their fee for wheel damage is cheaper than local wheel repair so I’ll just eat that one. My biggest fear is the tires. Even going non MPSS 4S is expensive and I may be on the hook for another $1000 tire install just to hand it right back :/
Is checking the tire tread a normal procedure for a lease? As long as they are not bald it should be wear and tear. Especially after 36000 in 36 mos on a lease / tires
Hey @phonesanddrones. A question for you. So we're returning our lease. We have some over mileage and wear and tear that's fine. But that's a big chunk of change. Will we be able to maybe set a payment plan. Or will they like not accept the vehicle until paid in full?
does Tesla offer insurance to purchase, to cover things like rim rash and minor dents, etc so you don't have to stress out when returning the car? Thanks.
My final quote is around 1700 which is crazy as hell. I think everyone should buy instead of leasing, it's a bad move. The worst thing is you can't transfer the FSD you bought on the leased car.
When I returned my Audi A5 I didn’t even have to schedule anything. I just walked into a dealership and dropped off the keys and they asked where it was parked. They didn’t even walk out to see it. If Tesla is going to put me through this BS I am no longer conflicted about getting some other kind of EV. To hell with Elon.
Be very careful doing that. I did that with Nissan on an Altima. I got a final bill for the total amount of the car. I called them and asked why since I was under mileage, they told me they never recieved the car. Turns out, the dealership I had returned it to, parked it and forgot about it. It was resolved, but had to notify the credit companies so there was no dings.

There is absolutely no good reason they should not allow window tinting if it was done by a professional.
I will not buy a car used if it has aftermarket window tint. Also if the rear window wasn’t done right it could mess up the rear defrost system leading me to have to pay to replace a rear window on top of it.
