Kai Ora, from a expat kiwi in Oz, I had a new XT600E, absolutely bulletproof engineering from Yamaha, and the 660 models have proved just as good, you would have enjoyed the trip you were on.
Hi Sorry to take so long to reply. It is attached at the front by a bracket provided to the 2 bolts that secure the motor to the frame. From memory I purchased longer bolts. The rear of the bash plate is bolted to where the 2 original exhaust pipes were attached. I added extra washers as spacers to allowance clearance between bash plate and engine sump. Hope this helps.
Great review and useful suggestions. I minterested to know if you needed to re tune the bike after going from a 2 into 1 system, and if you felt a gret deal of difference in the power delivery. Thank s again. Cheers. John
Olá chegando de like 👍👍 Inscrito também!! Excelente adaptação dos canos de descarga passando por cima 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Você fez o reforço de quadro?? Pois as motos que usam o bauleto costumam quebrar. Qualquer coisa, confira um vídeo meu falando sobre isso.
Hello Mr. Russel, dont know if you still own this bike but I have a quick question, if you dont mind; recently I got myself a xt 660 r from 2009 just like yours. The reason Im writing you is that I bought it with the exact same top case as yours and I can not get it out. Is there some trick to it that I am not aware of? Tried everything but it just wont move. Cheers
Stephen Eldridge Hi Stephen. I did a blog called Russelsenroute.com. The first part of it is our America’s trip when I used this bike, the second part is our more recent trip from Vladivostok to London on our 250’s.
Hello Sir, I just watched your informative video. Tnx for the upload!! Decreasing almost three inches of seat height, how much ground clearance did you got?? Is there enough ground clearance left, for off-road traveling?? Stay safe n take care!!
Hi. Glad you found the video helpful. We changed the standard exhaust from going underneath the bike to a side mounted exhaust. We then fitted a Metal Mule bashplate. The ground clearance underneath the bashplate at the front of the bike is 220mm and at the centre of the bike the frame below the shock absorber is approx 180mm. This is with no weight. Hope this helps.
hello , how i can height my fatbar ? because the clutch line is too short ...do you have replacement the line??? also whose is the program you have with this exhaust? thank you very much!
11 months late but what gives. 130km/h is perfectly fine. 145 also, 150 and upwards is a bit wobbly, but still fine without too much wind. PS: @Mr. Russel I think it's really cool that you still answer on your videos 6 years later :)
Nearly no one talks about the power of the engine. Is it more powerful than Honda NX 650? I had one of those and I thought it could have had a little more power. Have you any idea of that?

@Malcolm Nuttall We certainly did, a great bike for the ride and with no mechanical issues for the 40,000+ kms

Didnt notice any difference in the power delivery, and we had the bijes serviced after it was installed.

Fuel injection , water cooling & Roller Rockers .. being advantages over the usual pick of a DR650 , good solid bike.
faster too

Hi Birger Westin I dont know how powerful the Honda is so cant really answer your question, but I found the XT to have as much power as I needed.
Hi! What kind of Windshield is that and where can i get it. looks really good. Looking forward to your answer! Greetings from Germany!
It is a Givi generic screen.
A bit late to ask a question what about a long range tank ?
We didnt look into it, we just carried extra fuel when we thought we would need it.
The name of these bag in the rear of the bike??
They are Andy Straps from Australia. Have used them on 2 long adventure rides and they are very good.
Hello
is there any pic or video of windscreen
Sorry no but it's a generic Givi screen.
Thank you and ride safe.
Ufuk yıldırım Thanks. Currently riding from Vladivostok to London, just left Mongolia, on Yamaha XT250s
