This is amazing. Probably the freshest take on the genre in a long time. Progressive, but catchy, haunting but enchanting in the melody and arrangement, and overall a fantastic EP. I hope to see more from this band
A friend shared this on facebook a few days ago. i haven't been able to stop listening. Naia you are incredible. If I wasn't a broke student/musician i would buy this for everyone i know. thank you so much for posting
I've known him for a long time now, we used to sit and talk at the coffee shop in Columbus, GA (Where he also played often).. Such a great soul as well as guitar player. Miss that dude..
Initially this really grabbed me; it's definitely a fresh take on the genre with a nice blend of driving blues, emo, classic guitar solos that wail with the best of them. As time has gone by, however, and upon listening to her other music, there isn't much variety here. I also feel like the production (particularly the drums) leaves a lot to be desired. This is a very entertaining listen a few times though, but doesn't hold up on the test of time for me. That being said, I still recommend this album to my friends from time to time. I'm hopeful she will branch out and start to expand her sound in the future.
This is the big problem with Bandcamp. This artist deleted all of his music from there. So everybody who bought it there doesn't have any access to it anymore.
I always thought you were brilliant, but I also thought you needed an outside producer. With the right, i.e. experienced producer, I believe success would find you even sooner than it probably will anyway... I'm going to think about you Izumi... You have lots of talent. But be careful, musicians tend to be their own worst enemies regarding success. Trust me, I've been there... Good Luck, Your talent still astounds me...
Since I worked for 3 record companies... I'll be brief... Business people like the bottom line, "Will you make us money? Are you marketable?" and similar thought processes. Your feelings about your art, your ego, your sense of self are unimportant compared to the bottom line. Plus, it's easier to talk business to business people. Most artists would be lost talking Economics, Revenue streams, Mechanical Royalties vs. Actual et. al. I have personally seen artists make bad business decisions simply by opening their mouths at the wrong time and blowing the deal. Myself included... and it doesn't take much to blow the deal... for ex. I told Izumi about free studio time he was offered... I said that what they were doing was letting him have the time, BUT they owned the Master tape. That physical manifestation of the song, and if he became successful, they were going to go back over their studio logs and charge him RETROACTIVELY for using their studio... I think Naia didn't grasp the levity of that scenario at the time. It's an old con... Age and wisdom seem to have settled with Naia... And I'm happy about that most definitely... ;)
I love the tone of this. Elegant and precise arrangements create a full sound without sounding cluttered. Only criticism is the vocals break down a little too much in a few places.
Because of the artists personal conflict I guess. He identified as a transwoman when he released this but now he feels as a man again so it doesn't fit anymore. He also deleted this from Bandcamp.
Un simil entre math y blues, bah al menos así lo habían definido cuando salió este tema allá por el 2016. (Me costó volver a encontrarlo porque Naia Izumi borró este EP, desconozco por qué)
@@quasarart 'She' was a woman. And he has long since transitioned back to her birth sex. Possibly to more easily get ahead. Presenting yourself as femme is often very expensive and prohibitive and dangerous.
This is one of math rocks most slept on ep.
What an incredible artist

Clearly not a dude, you should respect folks preferred pronouns, that's just basic courtesy.
I'm a dude, he's a dude, she's a dude, we're all dudes yeah!
Samsonuel
Except insofar as "dude" is just a synonym for "male" we aren't.
Blows my mind how unknown this guy is, but then guys like hobo johnson who just ramble bullshit have thousands of views. This is so fresh.
Dreamers speaks to me man I needed this song in my life THANKS FAM GOOD TO HAVE YOU BACK :>

Naia did all of this without help. So, if produced I'm sure you would get what you wanted.
Wow, this is great! So nice to see some new musicians take up le math.

what do you mean " musicians tend to be their own worst enemies regarding success" ?

Bat for Lashes vibes!
I hear a lot of Jeff Buckley in the voice. Guitar work is stunning. Really enjoyed this one.
+DatYodziePodolski I used to play open mic's with Naia all the time. She used to cover So Real every open mic. Good ear.

Why can't I find the original on spotify
Because of the artists personal conflict I guess. He identified as a transwoman when he released this but now he feels as a man again so it doesn't fit anymore. He also deleted this from Bandcamp.
I love you!!!❤
reminds much of 22 but this is more soulful
Great

lo juro lo intenté, pero no pude sacarme la idea de que esto es ¿mathpop?
