জিয়াউর রহমান। পেশায় রিকশাচালক। আসলে তিনি শিল্পী। বাংলাদেশের ঐতিহ্যবাহী রাজশাহী শহরের রাস্তায় চলতে চলতে কখনও তার সঙ্গে আপনারও দেখা হয়ে যেতে পারে। সম্প্রতি রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে আয়োজিত একটি সাহিত্য উৎসবে যোগ দিতে গিয়েছিলেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ছ'জন কবির একটি দল। কবি সত্যপ্রিয় মুখোপাধ্যায়, কবি আনসার উল হক, কবি তন্ময় মণ্ডল সহ অন্যান্যরা মোহিত হয়েছেন জিয়ার গানে। মুখ দিয়ে একতারা সহ বেশ কয়েকটি বাদ্যযন্ত্রের সুরও ছড়িয়ে দিতে পারেন জিয়া।
বাংলাদেশের রাজধানী শহর ঢাকায় তার চৌষট্টি বছরের জীবনে একটিবার মাত্র গিয়েছেন জিয়া, তাছাড়া আর কখনও রাজশাহীর বাইরে যাওয়া হয়নি। নিজের জীবন সম্পর্কে বলতে গিয়ে জিয়া বলেন, সকাল ৯ টায় রিক্সা নিয়ে বেরোনো। মাধ্যাহ্নভোজনের জন্য একবার ঘরে ফেরা। তারপর আবার সওয়ারী নিয়ে জীবন ছুটে চলল রাত দশটা-এগারোটা অবধি। এর মধ্যে নিজেকে সতেজ রাখতে আর সওয়ারীদের আনন্দ দিতে তার অবলম্বন মাটির গান।
কোনো সওয়ারী যখন পদ্মার পাড় ধরে জিয়া-র রিক্সায় গান শুনতে শুনতে আবিষ্কার করেন শতাব্দীপ্রাচীন শহর রাজশাহীর অলিগলি, সে এক অন্য মাদকতা।
এ পৃথিবীর কোন প্রান্তে কোন প্রতিভা রয়েছে কেউ জানে না। তবু রাজশাহীর জিয়াউর রহমানের রিক্সা যে আপনাকে এক শৈল্পিক সফর করাবেই তা আর বলার অপেক্ষা রাখে না।
Ziaur Rahman. Rickshaw driver by profession. He is actually an Singer. You may even meet him while walking the streets of the traditional city of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Recently, a group of six poets from West Bengal went to attend a literature festival organized by Rajshahi University. Poet Sathyapriya Mukhopadhyay, Poet Ansar Ul Haque, Poet Tanmay Mondal and others were enthralled by Zia's songs. Zia can also spread the melody of several musical instruments including the Ektara with her mouth.
Zia has been to Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, only once in his sixty-four years of life, and has never been outside Rajshahi. Talking about his life, Zia said, take a rickshaw out at 9 am in the morning. Back home once for lunch. Then life went on again with a ride till ten-eleven pm at night. In between to keep himself fresh and to entertain the riders, he resorted to mudi songs.
When a rider listens to Zia's song in rickshaw on the banks of the Padma, he discovers lanes of centuries-old city of Rajshahi, a different experience. No one knows where talent is in this world. However, it goes without saying that Ziaur Rahman's rickshaw in Rajshahi will take you on an artistic journey.
