Regarding the power, i was told you can use any dodgy fuel in any city in the world and still achieve 720ps at the fly. The knock on effect of this is at sea level with 100 octane you will be seeing the best part of 800hp at the fly.
I don’t normally get here for a video this early. But it’s 2:30am here in California. I just drove 7.5 hours to my parents house for thanksgiving. And im stoked I got to catch this before bed. As usual... great video James. Thank you for the great content!
It's my all around favourite supercar. It's gorgeous in my opinion and it's the one of the fastest of not the fastest "supercar" on the road.I was really waiting for a video on the 720s !
Can we discuss why mclarens depreciate like full cream milk, AND can we discuss why people say the 650/675lt/720 are horribly “built” motor vehicles?? I keep seeing and hearing about dodgy built quality, panel gaps and doors not closing and tons of electronic issues, WHY is no one talking about this?
I liked the look of the 720 when it first came out. I liked it because it was totally unique and brought something new to the supercar scene. I have heard many people say that the looks are growing on them, and that to me is a sign a great design. Many truly great designs started that way, the AP Royal Oak watch being an example of one of them.
Five finger death punch... Ooooh yeah! You can daily anything for me, the only thing that can stop that is if you live and mostly drive in big cities. Well here in Brussels, the roads, streets are awful, circulation sucks, streets bumps, zebra bumps, tramway rails/bus lane with different level of heights,... Even normal cars scratch their chassis.
Love the 720S. I know a few UA-camrs e.g. Sam, Tom are not fans but I think they're great. I would buy one over all its competitors(if I win the lottery). PS. What's going on between you and TGE?

I am big Macca fanboy, but it seems the problem with McLaren is that when they have an issue, the demand for services and issues solving is bigger then the main dealers can take and the waiting list is too long, also, from what I hear, McLaren are making ti very difficult for independed garages to specialize in Mclaren services and issues, you can only take your Macca to a main dealer when compared to other brands.
Are you planning on telling us all the issues, which have arisen with this 720s; or, have you not had any? Either scenario would be of interest to those of us who might buy one of these. I'm keen, but whilst money is not an issue, inconvenience and unreliability most certainly are concerns. If I'm selecting a car to travel to, say, Geneva, I don't want a car that I doubt will make it. I'll just jump in one of the reliable ones. That being so, what's the point (for me) in owning one? I love McLaren and I have always been a fan of the F1 team and always will be. But I wasn't a fan of the 720s when it was launched but the more I see of it, the more I desperately want one
That was a really good well rounded piece - most interesting. I’ve noticed a reasonable amount of chat online about reliability issues with the 720s - I take it you’ve not encountered any? As McLaren have given you the 720s as a long termer do you feel obliged not to bring stuff like that up? You might be the 1 in a 1000 that has a problem so it could unfairly damage the brand I guess. I made the exact same point about how the 720s has pushed the boundaries - prior to release there was no great pressure or competition with everyone saying ‘nice cars but could be quicker ‘ !!! I think there was a collective stunned silence with the 720s’s performance and you it’s a really good point - perhaps the reports of lack of feel and theatre are down to its operating window being a step on from the rest which isn’t reached by many. Like I say, good piece James, really enjoyed it:)
I agree with you that the McLaren 720S is useable, but I think you’re missing something. Here in the U.K, unfortunately some people see supercars as nothing more than ‘flashy excess’ and that therefore in the real world limits their usability, no matter which supercar. We’ve got a gorgeous Bentley Continental GT V8 S and, even though you’d hope you could drive it and park it wherever you pleased, in reality you have to take into consideration the high value of these cars and the risk you take when leaving it somewhere. I do agree with you that there is nothing technically stopping someone using a supercar every day, but if you have a traditional professional job sometimes it isn’t worth it to take the supercar. Just my thoughts on the actual liveability of these cars.

As much as I love cars for me they still have to make sense on the road with the ability to perform their fundamental purpose so the likes of the Senna and Speed wing or whatever it’s called should be canned - focus on the three core offerings or should I say two plus another one ie the now ageing P1 and or its successor.
