How would this work as a prologue to a Curse of Strahd game? Like the players play this, Strahd wins, and then the players create new characters to avenge them.
How do you explain the 45~ minute timer where stradh comes back to fight them? Whats his reason for not doing it there and then? Why give the party a chance to 'power up'?
Same could be said about the entire campaign? Why did Strahd lure them in to Barovia to let them wander around collecting magic items? Why not kill them whenever he please? Reason being: he's sadistic and bored and every now and then invites adventurers to his realm to play the game of cat and mouse. He's just full of himself basically.
@@SlyFlourish Thanks for responding! I just finished running the entire Curse of Strahd campaign and loved it. But when you run Castle Ravenloft as a 1-shot as explained in this video with Strahd as the final bad guy, would characters enter as level 10? level 5?
Love the tips and advice, but I absolutely hate the way you pronounce "Tarokka" with the "ah" vowel sound. Been listening to the Ravenloft audiobooks for years and its always been pronounced with the "oh" vowel sound (Tar-oh-kah).
I've run this campaign in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th editions. It's always epic. Looking forward to hearing how yours went.
Love this. Going to use this on my Halloween game in a month. Thank you.
How'd it go ???
Super helpful! I've been killing myself trying to find good maps to run this for the holiday this month, this was a godsend!
Would love some videos fleshing out, tips, or even playing the full Curse of Strahd & your experience with it!!
It would be so cool to do ravenloft every year
Here on the recommendation of How to D&D

Or they have the same characters reincarnated to a lower level. Their memories slowly return as they level up back to their former strength.
I love you Sly! ♥️
Where did you find the artwork of Ireena on the throne? I tried a Google search and couldn't locate it.
I also would like to know. That art is amazing
In the version that you propose, would it not be Sergei Kolyanovich? (as opposed to "Kolyana"). I like the variant!
Love the Tome of Strahd idea, how would the players know about what happens if you burn it?
I'd probably have an NPC tell them or have them learn about it when they get it.
thanks!

It is his timer. That's what he tells them he's going to do in the dinner party.

Same way a cat plays with a mouse before the kill
I'd like to have one of the PCs to be Sergei in this - any issues with that that I'm not seeing?
Nope!
what level do characters start at?
1st if you run Death House. I'd recommend getting them to 2nd really quickly though. I think the main adventure starts around 3rd.

@@junkequation I’d make them 7th or 8th level and they’d play at that level for the whole session.

You are about a day too late.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
