I've driven the 992 (video on my channel), it's an amazing piece of machinery that is an enthusiast's dream. Bravo to Porsche for keeping the legend alive!
Even with stock 1991 tires the 964 RS was lightning-quick for its time. In 1991 sport auto lapped the 964 RS on stock tires in 8.28 min, only 5 seconds slower than on modern Trofeo tires (as published in sport auto 11/1991). A 1991 964 Turbo 3.3 with 355 hp performance package (WLS) with the same driver was 5 seconds slower around the Ring (8.33 min).
Unless you see 911’s on a regular basis you don’t realize how much larger the newer 991 and 992 are than the 964/993 and older 911’s. The 993 was the last 911 based on the G platform and from there the 911 just started to grow in size and weight. The 996 and 997 aren’t as big as the 992 but still a bit larger than the original 911’s. I can’t imagine the 911 getting much bigger. I hope it doesn’t.

I have looked this now a few times and I always get the feeling he is trying harder with the 992. Notice that he does not seem to use heel and toe with the 964 which I believe means several compromised entrances. There are actually couple of corners where he seems to feather close the clutch.
964...110% of the time.....it works EVERY time...
Bucket seat Recaro in Carerra S? Had the car been stock?
Porsche use more than 20 years to close one minute gap, and we can use extra 100K to get another 45 seconds faster. Good Deal.
My 964 RS rep has over 300hp and is about same weight as the real one , LSD, Trick suspension. Same tyres . Be interesting if it could make up that 1m . Although not with me driving.
992 is like having all the driver assist on in a game.
Then let's see you turn a similar lap at the Ring. LMK when you bin it.
No rev matching on downshifts? RIP clutch.
could live with the slow one
Could live with an even the slowest G body ever!
Oh, same as my Porsche, 93MY 964RS Ruby Stone Red, 4700kilo actual use only!
See, and that's the issue. You go on about the car being amazing, but you don't/won't drive it. Good to tell everyone about though I'm sure. Meh.
Racebuster Mann. Lass ich in Ruhe. Ich übe das seit meiner Jugend. Fahr weiter mit schleifender Kupplung. Schönen Abend
I love it
What's the title of the track from the very beginning?
