Please be safe out there everyone! Crash video provided by: Kálmán Csandli from Hungary More resourses on the skier safety code: coloradoski.com... www.nsaa.org/sa... www.snowtrails....
Sure it isn't ideal. But but considering the speed he's going at and the level of control he has I wouldn't berate him for it tbh. What is much worse in my opinion is the lack of a helmet. I get that helmets are shit to wear, but in teaching people, and particularly never riders of both snowboards and skis safety in the slopes, you can never have to much emphasis on how much safer you are with a helmet on. Even if you are good enough and ride safe enough that the need for a helmet isn't really there, things like other idiots crashing into you like in this video can happen. And if it does you would be happy that you had a helmet on.
John Edvards, you are completely correct but Ryan actually wears a helmet as of late. He's even made a video about it. ua-cam.com/video/34bgIrwZyos/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RyanKnapton
So bummed when these incidents turn into a skier/snowboarder thing. It sounds exactly like hearing racist people talk. We are all out there doing the same thing in the same place. This video is about respecting one another so we all stay safe.
LOL just lift weights............you'll find everybody on the mountain becomes very polite when they realize that you'd pound the fuck out of them on the slope if they piss you off!!! :)
Had an incident similar to this when I first started. I was on a piste with a steep drop on my right hand side and I was taking my time doing very controlled and predictable toe and heel turns. A skier took it as a challenge to see if they could cut past me at speed on my right hand side . . . where the huge drop was. I noticed them coming but by that point it was too late, they were tucked in low determined to speed past me but got it spectacularly wrong, they clipped the frontside of my board and took us both down an icy, steep and rough drop at speed. So many skiers use you as obstacles it is ridiculous
What's with the whole us vs them kinda thing lol, skiiers and snowboarders are both there to do one thing, have fun, the people like the skiier you mentioned are the idiots. There are plenty of them around, just because you've had an experience with one doesn't make all skiers the ones in the wrong lol.
I think this crash looked more dangerous for the skier than snowboarder. Of course this one is skier's fault. I just hope nothing serious happened to both of them. Stay safe and aware of your surroundings guys. Watch where you're going and always have in mind the worst possible way a person below you can do (suddenly stop / turn / crash) and maintain safe distance to avoid collision if they happen to do so.
The worst thing ever is when people decide to stop in the MIDDLE of the trail to talk or wait for their friends. Move to the side!!! Happens too often where I'm from.
When I'm the above rider and I can't properly judge what the below rider will do, I slow down, make my way around. I get to ride the whole day instead of ending it on an injury.
I just want to comment on some of the ridiculous nonsense about taking up the whole width! ...The downhill skier/snowboarder has the right to go anywhere he wants it's your responsibility to judge where he can possibly end up. If you need to slam to the ground to stop you are not judging the situation right, and you are of the same mentality as the skier in this video. If a situation arises where I can't judge if I can pass... I DON'T. Simple as that! And it makes things more interesting... I'm not repeating the same routine from the last descent.
Teodor Kuběna By having his eyes open, yes. The rider in the video was extremely predictable and consistent, just looking at him would tell you were to turn, but the skier that hit him was watching his buddy and following him instead of watching for others.
I have watched this work its way through court with broken backs and necks and yes the skier down hill has the right of way. 45 years of snowboarding and skiing and the "Code" has not changed, up hill skier has liability..
I always have some question about the code, when happen if "A" from behind cut over "B" and suddenly stop?It never happen to me but I witness it happen
You have to being going at a speed and keep your distance so you can avoid a rider who suddenly stops or falls. It often means having to slow down on busy runs.
i'm pretty sure a girl just died a week ago at breck were this guy lives and i live that wasn't wearing a helmet and the doctors said that if she was wearing one the survival rate would have gone from 8% to 70% sooo
He actually made a video about this, saying that helmets gives people a feeling of invincibility and makes them reckless. That being said, he suggests people to wear helmets.
I've been looking up hill a lot since I saw someone bombing down the hill and almost hitting someone. It's good to inform other people about these dangers. Good video!
Zach Maier Same. I board so I can look like an "asshole" sometimes, but I'll fly through some slow zones because of how flat they are because I don't feel like unbinding in the middle of a run.
I have to say, the hatred for skiiers, and the collisions caused by skiiers, have to be caused by the position of their bodies in relation to the slope. They are stomach facing down hill and makes it very difficult to turn their head allll the way around to check where people are so they sort of start skiing with blinders. I've noticed this for over a decade at over 5 different resorts. Snowboarders are constantly moving, back facing down slope, stomach facing down slope, right shoulder facing down slope, left shoulder etc etc. This provides snowboarders with an easier time looking around and keeping their head on a swivel. So the next time you get into a crash with a skiier, go easy on them, they can't see shit.
good on ya for talking about looking up the hill too! waaaay too many people think they only have to look downhill. yes, it is mostly uphills job to avoid downhillers, but you avoid a ton of risk by being aware of everyone around you. so much better to move to the side and let that bomber go past than get taken out and possibly injured. i love to go fast too (i just hit 35mph on my snowboard the other day, woot) but there is a time and a place. lastly, as a suggestion to speed freaks ;P, those times you have to slow down are perfect for practicing switch or butters or whatever other ground stuff you are trying to add to your bag of tricks :) it makes those times much less annoying.
This happened to me too, I was the fast one in that case. I think lots of people made this fault but it is a good moment to learn from what you’re actually doing on the mountain
If someone is riding over the knuckle of a moderate jump without doing the jump and suddenly cuts into the landing area and is hit by someone coming off the jump is that person at fault for being where he shouldn't be or the person doing the jump for not waiting for this person to clear off the jump entirely?
+terriblepickles Alright, thank you for the response. It was in a park and the guy that rode into the landing area turned out to be a fairly beginner skier. He couldn't hit any obstacles in the terrain park, but decided to go in there anyway and completely get in the way
its just that you have to take care of EACH OTHER regardless if youre a boarder or a skier. when the slope is broad you can Do your swings widely but if its not and you are slow let some space to the others
Oh shit Breck? I've never personally been on the slopes for the resort BUT I have been in Breck more than once. I heard it's kinda rough but a nice resort.
really nice Video showing a very nice example on how to look up the hill and have your surroundings under control! Nevertheless I personally would NEVER ride with Headphones -> this way you give away one of your extra senses to be aware of your surrounding. Good Idea to shout to the other skiers "on your Left / Right" if they have headphones on like you in this Video all your shouting has no effect -> they just cant hear you...
A good rule that goes for both parties is to never make a sharp turn when possible. I fucking hate it when I'm trying to get to a race course carrying a huge backpack and a second set around the mountain and some idiot (this has happened to me with both a skier and a snowboarder before) makes the world's biggest cut across the hill after generally staying straight and crashes directly into me even when I slow down, sending both skis I have (the ones I'm carrying AND the ones I'm skiing on), as well as my backpack quite aways down the mountain.
In France slopes are very narrow and overcrowded, too many beginners on steep and technical slopes (on equivalent of your double black diamond), there are not many slopes that skiers can have a lot of speed
It’s especially not safe to ski or snowboard with your headphones on. You won’t be able to hear the surroundings and if someone if yelling at you from behind or side (for various of reasons) I was able to avoid many accidents by hearing the accident coming. Not seeing it
Great movie. After it I suppose you had headache and neck pain 😉. It's very hard teach people behaviour but it worth of it. In Poland many people skiing straight away to show how good I am. Fuc.. Silly. Anyway you are my master. Thanks 😉
i like how many people dislike this, just proves the idiots dont like that a snowboarder was right and knows the rules better then them. lol heres another tip though. think or the runs as lanes on a highway, if you are going really wide, look behind you. if you also see instructor jackets, be more alert if you are going to pass people.
Hmmm... I wonder I can't see the likes/dislikes? It couldn't possibly have anything to do with someone refering to this as clickbait! Because the snowboarder almost died for real! I mean everytime someone crashes they almost die, even if they don't get hurt in any way!
I watched a guy die on the mountain. And it wasn't very different than this situation.

I caught myself when i was Snowboarding the other day. Im a fuzzy boarder But a Perfect skier and fast then. I would Not feel comfort with my skiing self when i m a boarder and vice versa
Do they have "skateparks" for snowboarding and skiing or is it only on the mountains that you have to share with everyone? Because if so, then I can understand with the skier and I don't even like skiing, I like snowboarding more but skateboarding is my actual sport. Because I'll skate as fast as I want if I don't have a park that I can go to that will let me do it. If there's only the mountains to go to and I'm a local who is good at skiing, fuck the tourists or anyone who wants to zig zag across the slope going 8 mph
the only time you should have to look up hill is when your moving across the mountain.. other than that people looking down at you should be in control of their direction to avoid you. if you make the same predictable turns to control your speed then it should be easy enough for others to know where your going to go.
It works both ways - don't ski / board so fast around noobs and don't freaking stop / block/ sit in a line with your mates in the middle of the run. Just some common sense from people would go a long way to avoid 90% of accidents!
Don't wanna get hit? Dont zig-zag all over the slope without looking around. Its just like cutting someone off and then complaining that your car gets damaged because the person you cut off wasnt going slow enough to react
+Marko Polo That is exactly the attitude a snowboarder at Keystone had. And after he hit a skier, he was sued for $253,000. Why? Because he ran into the downhill skier. It's the only way the mountain works. I just encourage also looking uphill to make sure no one is bombing down at you. At Breck thier are signs all over the place that say "No Straightlining!" And "Turns are Good!". One of the other parts of the skier code is to obey all posted signs. So yup. Let people turn and "zig zag" and be good enough to not run into them while doing the Texas tuck.
Ryan Knapton I used to ski at the Snow Dome in Tamworth (I don't now) and I was always pissed off when I was hugging the wall so I didn't hit anyone when gaining speed and some idiot would always do a swerve straight in front me. I don't get angry at people for doing turns because its fun to do it but the thing that really gets me mad is when they do it without even trying to look. If you are on the slope your safety is in the hands of others and vise versa. I just get mad when people swerve and cut people off without looking and when they get hit they go "Well you shouldn't have been doing fast!" Ok so next time you cut someone off on the highway and they hit you just say "well you was going fast you should have gone slow so you had time to react idiot" Just please, I dont care if you turn, just fucking look before you hurt someone
The dude was going like 3 miles per hour.... If the skier has his head so far up his ass that he can't avoid a beginner who is hardly moving, then he needs to slow the hell down! Boi! :D
Second skier sucks, you can see them bombing straight down with only two or three riders snaking down, long slow turns... With any foresight at all he would have slightly turned right to avoid the rider
+Alfredo- Clash Royale put you hand over face and shake it left and right for awhile please. Skiing and shreddin isn't a contact sport. And people do get very injured from collisions, and Breck has numerous deaths each year from it. Most which can easily be avoided. Happy and safe shreddin dude.
This is very true. I am an expert skier and love to go fast, but as soon as I get to the easier runs with lots of people, I check my speed because there are many beginners who have every right to go slow and take big turns. If you want to go fast, choose the right time and place to do so.
+Zac Carlson Thank you for your reply! So many awful comments on here... But as you said there are always beginners and it's our responsibility as the uphill skier / rider to be aware and avoid em. Respect Man.
Zac Carlson same 100% also when I’m in the park when there are you get kids around or less experienced people I keep it easy and try not to show boat cuz one of them might try to copy something cool and get seriously hurt. Aka no flips ect.
Sounds Eerily familiar to my passion. I love riding fast on my motorcycle. Cornering at speed with massive lean... I'm still learning, but with each limit raised, I tend to try and break that limit as quickly as possible. But that doesn't stop me from doing it safely. I choose my areas carefully. Back roads where there are banks of grass, no wired fences, minimal traffic, always on my side of the road. Safety comes first. If you want to be an idiot, do it on your own risk, not others.
So true. A smart skier is always evaluating the conditions in front of him or her and when appropriate what is coming from behind them. Beginno faster areas are no place to fast.
I slammed into a little girl last season she was laying around trying to detach her snowboard on the down side of a jump. I managed to crash in a way where I took most of the impact rather than her but I was so pissed. Moral of the story, stay clear of a jump after you hit it
Ben Dover Yes, you should definitely get clear of a jump after you hit it, but it's on you to check the LZ to make sure there's not someone there before you hit the jump. If that girl had been incapacitated(unconscious, broken limbs, etc), you could have made a serious injury far worse by landing on her. That being said, good on you for taking the hit as best as you could, I know a lot of people who wouldn't have bothered.
+tom bibby definitely nothing wrong with bombing as long as you know 100% your not going to crash into someone. There's def right and wrong time and places for it.
Anyone who's crying about him not having a helmet... just think about this: when he's not wearing a helmet he's just putting himself in danger not anyone else, but when you're skiing recklessly you are not only putting yourself in danger but others as well.
Ares Ludovisi You only make it sound stupid when you analogize it like that. You've changed how it works by having him actively hurt himself by slicing his wrist. Whereas the lack of a helmet doesn't do anything unless you get hurt. Don't try and win an argument by *wrongly* analogizing things
this almost happened to me the other day. just casually cruising down a green run when two skiers come bombing down. One on the left one in the right. The one on the right came so close I had to cut my carve short and it startled me enough I almost fell. I know it's an annoyance sometimes, but it's your responsibility to watch out for the people below you and that does mean coming to a complete stop sometimes. I've had to do it myself. If you want to pass somebody going slower, slow down and give a friendly warning at least. You can complain about slower riders all you want, or people who make big carves, doesn't change the fact the YOU have to avoid them if they're downhill. If you think your Bode Miller, then get off the green and blue trails.
just started snowboarding and this happened to me.I was going down a hill and a skier went right in front of me.I cut my carve, flew and broke my wrist.
NoahMTSpensley Nice straw man argument. Whether I'm wearing skis or a snowboard is irrelevant. If those two skiers we wearing a snowboard is irrelevant. I've been cut off by people in both camps. What is relevant and what the point is here is that anyone below you on the mountain has the right of way and it's your responsibility to watch out for them and give them enough space. Read the sign at the beginning of the video. Just be smart, stay safe and show consideration for everyone in the mountain. Know the code
This is true, this year without any snow-related prior experience I started to learn snowboarding. I am into windsurfing. I have heard a lot of complaints about snowboarders before starting. Frankly my observation is totally different. Many skiers behave like idiots or criminals while overspeeding and passing you by from behind. It doesn't matter whether you learn or are a kid. They do not care. Each day (Austria) helicopter took someone injured by skier. I write exactly what I witnessed. In windsurfing we have community, in those mountains someone overspeeding on blues ... acts like and is a potential criminal.
I think we have a lot more skiers where I ride so if someone is doing something wrong it's probably going to be a skier just because there are so many more of them. One of the main issues with snowboarders and skiers on the same slope is that many skiers don't seems to realize that a snowboarder will almost always take a different path down the hill than a skier would, so they don't give you enough space because they can't anticipate your line. But there are also just way too many people going way to fast and it doesn't matter what they are on.
skiers can’t see behind them so they will always be less safe when you are referring to skilled people. What i hate the most is when they cross the whole run out of NOWHERE and don’t even check behind them the slightest. keeping your line predictable is a must
From one of many sites that discuss snowboard/ski etiquette: "Remember that skiers and boarders in front of you or below you on the trail have the right of way."
but at the same time......the downhill skier should have a little clue about what's around him as well. If you're gonna go from the right side of the slope, to the left, and back again, YOU'RE THE FOOL, if you don't look up, to make sure it's clear. Just like when trails merge, you'll see the sign "TRAILS MERGE...........LOOK UP". Well, according to "the rule", you shouldn't have to look up............right??? WRONG!!! Yes, downhill has right of way.........but that doesn't mean "they can't do wrong". If you're gonna go across the trail, you're a fool if you don't give a quick look yourself.
I completely agree with you people should look up especially when doing wide or unpredictable turns. Problem is many doing wide turns are usually beginners who focus all their attention in front of them and don't have confidence to turn around to look back.
KaliAndy2 Exactly... there's a reason why UA-cam videos show ski instructors fiercely defending their students who get hit from behind. They know that you can't teach a beginner to keep looking backwards every 3 seconds when they're just learning to stand on their feet and link turns. The responsibility belongs to the uphill rider who can see what's ahead to stay in control and slow down if necessary.
I work as a snowboard instructor at my local hill, and through every lesson I give I cannot emphasize enough how much you need to follow the skier/snowboard responsibility code, every day I still have people that just straight-line it down the hill because they want to go fast not thinking that it is a problem... that code is there for a reason... like you said play it safe, play all season.
Wtf a stick with pokes for a camera arm how dangerous is that moron yourself
I wouldn't say that is safe or recommend that for others. Perhaps my points for keeping others safe is valid though?
Sure it isn't ideal. But but considering the speed he's going at and the level of control he has I wouldn't berate him for it tbh.

jeepheat55 well I thought it was smart lol
I'd feel pretty stupid too if I fell enough to worry about falling on my pokey stick. Get good you noob.
So bummed when these incidents turn into a skier/snowboarder thing. It sounds exactly like hearing racist people talk. We are all out there doing the same thing in the same place. This video is about respecting one another so we all stay safe.
derekperc Us vs Them. Human nature I suppose.
derekperc I totally agree I'm a snowboarder and I think it is very annoying.
LOL just lift weights............you'll find everybody on the mountain becomes very polite when they realize that you'd pound the fuck out of them on the slope if they piss you off!!! :)
there was a huge fight at gaww cause a lady skier didnt want to go with a snowboarder cause they where doubleing and doing every other chair
yeah i dont really get it i do both i have friends who snowboard and skiie i really dont get the thing
Had an incident similar to this when I first started.

Felix Huddlesworth how did you deal with that after, I'm not sure if I'd manage to keep my cool
not my fault your colourful coats make you look like a pylon

Matthew James in fact in the both team there is morons
some boarders do shit and some skiiers do shit too :)
Matthew James dude it's not skiiers vs snowboarders it's people who know the rules and people that don't

Daniel sweden or norway?
or france?
Canada
Daniel oh, ok :P
I know what you mean I hate when people stop right in the middle of the run and just talk or whatever it's like move to the side!
When I'm the above rider and I can't properly judge what the below rider will do, I slow down, make my way around. I get to ride the whole day instead of ending it on an injury.
Spiked stick for the selfie video while snowboarding. Genius man, good job.
1:05 the best selfie stick ever made
I just want to comment on some of the ridiculous nonsense about taking up the whole width! ...The downhill skier/snowboarder has the right to go anywhere he wants it's your responsibility to judge where he can possibly end up. cromrke You said complete bullshit. So the guy up is suposed to somehow know where the guy down will go?
Teodor Kuběna By having his eyes open, yes.

Skiers will ride within a meter of you even though the whole slope is free.. why tho
sorry you aren't in control lol
I'm in complete control. if you're bombing down the hill at 30mph going within 1 metre of me it's your fault not mine.
If I bomb down the hill im going closer to 50Mph.. 30Mph is a causaul run
lmao
Because snowboarders take up a shit ton of space.
Your talking about irrelevant safety codes for tourist, but your not wearing a helmet?
They don't because no good skiers or snowboards follow them. If you were any good you would know that.
They don't because any good rider doesn't follow them. If you were any good you would know that.
YGuy1 accidents will always ocurr no matter what but Wearing a helment protects you
i'm pretty sure a girl just died a week ago at breck were this guy lives and i live that wasn't wearing a helmet and the doctors said that if she was wearing one the survival rate would have gone from 8% to 70% sooo

Anyone else notice his selfie stick is a branch
I've been looking up hill a lot since I saw someone bombing down the hill and almost hitting someone. It's good to inform other people about these dangers. Good video!
I love your videos!!!! This is another great addition to your library as this topic is rarely covered. Thank you so much for putting this together!!!
Nothing says safety like being distracted by your spiked branch selfie stick, headphones and no helmet.
I just hate people who go super fast in slow zones and beginner zones lije I guess I do that cuz there boring but jeez at least have control

Jesper Bloem Nope it's whoever's coming from uphill. (No I'm not a skier who tells people that downhill has right of way).
Love the camera work
I like you man. you have a good piont of view on these things and don't pic sides. nice job

And That's Why I Switched To Snowboarding
that looks like a seriously unsafe selfie stick lol
Oh shit Breck? I've never personally been on the slopes for the resort BUT I have been in Breck more than once. I heard it's kinda rough but a nice resort.
That GoPro stick is lit🔥

Killer audio on the tutorial segments.
It's that time of the year guys
A good rule that goes for both parties is to never make a sharp turn when possible. Go to Mt Hood Meadows on a busy weekend day, you'll see this happen numerous times. Gotta yell that "Brozo left or Brozo right" when ya pass
I like your selfie stick dude
Yesterday I got snaked by a skier with a motocross helmet on, 4 times
Did anyone else notice the dude is using a stick for his camera pod thing
I make sure I make noise(s) when going past people in an effort to help them know and give them as much space as possible for random shit to happen.
Ditto.
1. rule dont stand in middle of track and dont do full circles if you dont look between
I love how the dude used a tree stick as a pole for a camera!😂😆🤣
It’s especially not safe to ski or snowboard with your headphones on. You won’t be able to hear the surroundings and if someone if yelling at you from behind or side (for various of reasons)
I was able to avoid many accidents by hearing the accident coming. Not seeing it
When you see yourself on the video (just on the background, not the crasher)
ok but it doesnt mean u get to croos the whole slope turning...common since
Love the stick cam LOL
That GoPro selfie stick is cool doe :D
Clear the fault of the skier, also there was no surprise movement of the boarder. Skier inattentive with mind somewhere else?
Great movie. After it I suppose you had headache and neck pain 😉.
It's very hard teach people behaviour but it worth of it.
In Poland many people skiing straight away to show how good I am. Fuc.. Silly.
Anyway you are my master. Thanks 😉
That is an awesome selfie stick!
Love that selfie stick!
Does anyone else that the go pro is at a end of a branch
yeah everyone
he uses a stick for a tripod that should be a life hack
Holy shit, that first guy was on it lmao
1:05 is he holding a stick??
i like how many people dislike this, just proves the idiots dont like that a snowboarder was right and knows the rules better then them. lol heres another tip though. think or the runs as lanes on a highway, if you are going really wide, look behind you. if you also see instructor jackets, be more alert if you are going to pass people.
That's some selfieSTICK ;)
And it would help if you didnt wear headphones on the slope
1:00 is he literally using a stick to hold his gopro??
Love how this guy spends 4 minutes on giving extensive safety tips when he is not even wearing a helmet
Well it doesn't sound like your helmet helped you avoid injury.
I would Not feel comfort with my skiing self when i m a boarder and vice versa
i never enjoy riding when there is alot of skiers on the slope.
People are distracted, less and less courteous, less intelligent, less situationally aware every day. It’s going to get worse!
nearly same thing happened to me at breck peak 10
Do they have "skateparks" for snowboarding and skiing or is it only on the mountains that you have to share with everyone? Because if so, then I can understand with the skier and I don't even like skiing, I like snowboarding more but skateboarding is my actual sport. Because I'll skate as fast as I want if I don't have a park that I can go to that will let me do it. If there's only the mountains to go to and I'm a local who is good at skiing, fuck the tourists or anyone who wants to zig zag across the slope going 8 mph
Anyone notice the stick
the only time you should have to look up hill is when your moving across the mountain.. other than that people looking down at you should be in control of their direction to avoid you. if you make the same predictable turns to control your speed then it should be easy enough for others to know where your going to go.
branch = selfie stick
I like the Homemade selfie stick
he was rec on a wodden stick
this video is a little heavy, that didn't look anywhere close to "almost killed"
I watched an on hill collision in person, which resulted in a death. And the speeds were similar to this.
@@RyanKnapton I get it, I'm sure seeing that would really make you think about safety more. Was it a brain injury, neck injury?
You are here for 0:39
nice selfie stick, i like it :D
It works both ways - don't ski / board so fast around noobs and don't freaking stop / block/ sit in a line with your mates in the middle of the run. Just some common sense from people would go a long way to avoid 90% of accidents!
not all the skiers are like them
Don't wanna get hit?
Boi the snowboarder pulled right in front of the skiier
The dude was going like 3 miles per hour.... If the skier has his head so far up his ass that he can't avoid a beginner who is hardly moving, then he needs to slow the hell down! Boi! :D
When you have no money for a selfie stick :D
no maybe he doesnt have room to pack it so its easier to use a stick or maybe he doesnt want to get the pole lost
make shift go-pro stick
Second skier sucks, you can see them bombing straight down with only two or three riders snaking down, long slow turns...
With any foresight at all he would have slightly turned right to avoid the rider
It's scaring me how stupid people can be
Skiing is dumb. Scooters are dumb. Selfie sticks are dumb. But your selfie ‘stick’ is cool. Good vid 👍
No one will look every 3 Seconds up the skiway... NOONE! Becaus itll take 90% of the fun.
why is this such a big deal? When someone crashes into me or I crash into someone I just get up and keep skiing lol.
But... the snowboarder Was going for Big turns though... and the skier Was really Not in control
I live in fear of the people behind me, I am always looking up.....
Word
LOL the guy used an actual stick to hold his camera
FantaBanta68plus1 that's called a selfie STICK😁
FantaBanta68plus1 flake and a yard of I was ski patrol I'd stick that up his wa zoo till it was his toothbrush kick him off for life
I slammed into a little girl last season she was laying around trying to detach her snowboard on the down side of a jump. I managed to crash in a way where I took most of the impact rather than her but I was so pissed. Moral of the story, stay clear of a jump after you hit it
Ben Dover
Yes, you should definitely get clear of a jump after you hit it, but it's on you to check the LZ to make sure there's not someone there before you hit the jump. If that girl had been incapacitated(unconscious, broken limbs, etc), you could have made a serious injury far worse by landing on her. That being said, good on you for taking the hit as best as you could, I know a lot of people who wouldn't have bothered.
Well I just rode in and she was sitting out of my sight the entire time the only way I could have seen her is if I rode past the jump
Where was your spotter?
Neil Gendzwill exactly.
Neil Gendzwill I was riding by myself
Or always ride with a spiked selfie stick, one similar you do have, to signal skiers that you may become dangerous after being hit! ;-)
Gérard Philipp next time i will
Sahadi420 look what he is holding in His hand...
Gérard Philipp
It's a branch...
Spiked selfie Stick xD its a branch
Gérard Philipp he has a legitimate selfie *stick*
I love boming down he slope, but if I see someone in the way, I slow down and avoid them
+tom bibby definitely nothing wrong with bombing as long as you know 100% your not going to crash into someone. There's def right and wrong time and places for it.
It’s not hard or complicated :)
Anyone who's crying about him not having a helmet... just think about this: when he's not wearing a helmet he's just putting himself in danger not anyone else, but when you're skiing recklessly you are not only putting yourself in danger but others as well.
I LOVE this comment. (Also just started wearing a helmet, here's why: ua-cam.com/video/34bgIrwZyos/v-deo.html
Digidi awsome
Fine but he has to pay for his medical bills
Ares Ludovisi
You only make it sound stupid when you analogize it like that. You've changed how it works by having him actively hurt himself by slicing his wrist. Whereas the lack of a helmet doesn't do anything unless you get hurt.
Don't try and win an argument by *wrongly* analogizing things
Jurgens Oosthuizen well he got hurt didn't he
Ride a snowboard like you ride a motorcycle: Assume no one sees you.
and they're all morons...................LOL
this almost happened to me the other day. just casually cruising down a green run when two skiers come bombing down.
I yell the side that I'm taking. I yell loud and slow down. Runs are narrow on the closest resort to me. But hey... I'm a snowboarder.
just started snowboarding and this happened to me.I was going down a hill and a skier went right in front of me.I cut my carve, flew and broke my wrist.
maybe you should get a pair of skis then
NoahMTSpensley Nice straw man argument. Know the code
yeah when snowboarders cut me off i can adjust because im on skis. Not really a strawman your just in more control on skis.
I love this dude he has his GoPro on a stick
I'm dying
Bingz same lol was about to comment about that
Blinx that’s what a lot of people do
If youre doing big ass s curves and taking up the whole run, you have an logical responsibility to look up, too.. for your own safety
What i hate the most is when they cross the whole run out of NOWHERE and don’t even check behind them the slightest. keeping your line predictable is a must
Is he using a twig as a selfie stick?
yeah it seems to be doing a good job too
until he notices all the sap on his gloves. LOL
before selfie sticks, we had these things called "gopro poles." people would either use branches all the time. lol
But if the snowboarder hit the skier, it would've been the skiers fault for cutting him off...
+Alex nope. Downhill skier has the right of way.
From one of many sites that discuss snowboard/ski etiquette:
"Remember that skiers and boarders in front of you or below you on the trail have the right of way."
but at the same time......the downhill skier should have a little clue about what's around him as well.
You just need common sense and spatial awareness, regardless of your skill level - that's the 'code' lol. I shred everything, responsibly.
