Teena is R&B royalty, there will never be another like her. She was a musician, singer, arranger, producer and song writer of all her thirteen albums! What a musical legacy she left the world. Too bad she never received the respect and recognition she so rightly deserved!
How in the hell is she not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Shows you what they think of black folks by admitting mere rappers but not the Ivory Queen.
In this world, respect and recognition is given to trash consciously oriented to the masses( jay-z, beatles), and Tina is for the elite. So everything is in its place.
So well put,and l agree 100 per cent, she needs to be posthumously rewarded for what she was and did.for now she's up in heaven doing a duet with Rick James forever more.
Hey for the people saying she sounds bad live, you need to remember singers get sick and horse too. I've heard her plenty of times live and she sounded great just like her records. Teena was a great soul singer! RIP
Stage presence for days regardless of any notes she may be off on. Give me a great performer any day over a "perfect voice" but piece of wood on stage!
my wife loves Tina Marie have all her albums and CD s she is a legend and had a vocal gift she was one of a kind legend her music lives on she will be mist
I remember watching this episode on Showtime at The Apollo. She is so cool, she has alway's had that swagger. Truly in a class all by herself. Her style, her voice and her beign is missed. R.I.P.
Teena should be an America music icon, not just a R&B icon. Unfortunately, she was too far ahead of her time, when R&B was just a subgenre of Pop. Her vocal talent, instrumental virtuosity, charisma, and innovation a a woman who controlled center stage like a BOSS, make her a legend in American music. We have had others since: Lauren, India, Jill, Erykah, Janelle, etc.. Lady T is the mother of them all. I will never forget. I hope that many others will remember as well.
I love you lady t I feel so blessed to have grown up to your music the Angeles must be enjoying ur talent as much as we do you will never b forgotten rip in peace bueatiful lady you will Always live in my heart ps. My wife whom passed away in 7/27/2019 used to dedicate ur songs to me rest in peace my Angeles thank you both so much
This live version of Lovergirl by Teena Marie compares to the original music collection in a good way and I am glad that it was made available here online. I admit that I started to listen to this classic 80s love song more frequently after the December 2010 timeframe for some reason though fortunately I was previously aware of this song both because this song played on the radio in the area I lived in as a teenager and I heard it again on a local station radio via the area I was living at the time when I was either 23 or 24
that girl had the coolest sense of style, look hot hot she looks, the funkiest white girl to ever grace the universe, love you forever Lady T, pure class after all she was a Motown Artist
What a great spirit, What a classy Lady...All my favorite singers just seem to leave us too soooooooon. Pisses me off...But we cant fight Gods Plan...Teena we miss you YOUNG Lady....So sad, way too sooon!!
Most great musicians will have that break out song, this was Teena’s. The Club scene was changing fast and Teena was at that fore front. Any Club worth a damn played this and played it often. Very Famous back in the day.
IVORY QUEEN OF SOUL! At’ta girl! Do yo thang! Rest In Peace Teena. ****AND YES I THINK THE BASSLINE TO THIS CUT IS ONE OF THE BEST/FUNKIEST EVER!! “Ba da doom dub ba da da boom!!”
My mom said the Rick James and Teena Marie was her first concert she went to in the 80’s here in Birmingham and he smoked a joint right on stage lol. She’s lucky to have been born in ‘68 bc I love these two and would’ve loved to have been at a concert to hear them perform “Fire And Desire!”
She rocks the Ivory Queen of soul! Until the day she died whe was performing....Let's see what you can do when you are 54... GREAT JOB TEENA! Rock the heavens! See you some day! I'll rock the earth with your songs.
Man do I miss you since you've been gone.....now Whitney has to live on as you do. No longer here with us..but always here with us in spirit. Rest In Peace Ladies.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s missing Ivory Angel. Played every instrument like Prince, wrote all of her own songs (except a few early ones by RJ), and of course those vocal performances. Yet R&RHoF admitting mere rappers before this lady. And speaking of rap, she was the FIRST singer to rap, and did so ably.
Yeah, Tina was Tina& quite unique.Madonna could dance with a show and production behind her....but Ms.Marie could work from scratch and make it happen.she also played instruments, seen an old Beverly Hillbilly clip and she's 8 & tap dancing & shit.if she woulda jumped ship and got on with Clive.....ugh...who knows?
THIS is my boyfriends computer...So this is coming from his girlfriend...Tina and Rick were the best...They loved each other more than itself...They are both gone, and too soon for me...I start to cry when I see them perform together, because it is true love...We do not have that now...I mean I am a 80s girl, and were did the respect go?! May prayers bring back everyone how it was in the Piece, love and happiness era...
Why was this queen so underrated wtf
She should be honored in rock n roll hall of fame she was and will always be an all time great
Teena is R&B royalty, there will never be another like her. She was a musician, singer, arranger, producer and song writer of all her thirteen albums! What a musical legacy she left the world. Too bad she never received the respect and recognition she so rightly deserved!
Even though she was older and bigger here i still feel she was still sexually attractive and she could still hit them high notes i love it
How in the hell is she not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Shows you what they think of black folks by admitting mere rappers but not the Ivory Queen.

Hey for the people saying she sounds bad live, you need to remember singers get sick and horse too. I've heard her plenty of times live and she sounded great just like her records. Teena was a great soul singer! RIP
Sh'kena W 😷➕🐎?
She sounded flat here and there but I can't and will not hold it against her.i never met a Tina performance I didn't like.
Yup you can tell she was horse and whoever said she sounded bad has never seen Teena live
Stage presence for days regardless of any notes she may be off on. Give me a great performer any day over a "perfect voice" but piece of wood on stage!
"singers get sick and horse too."
"Hoarse", not "horse".
Man this takes me Back when Music was Magic.

so well accepted by everyone..she deserved it, a wonderful talent
100% accepted by R&B audiences. I don't think any other Caucasian soul acts can say that.

Before Mariah there was Teena Marie, everything after that not worth mentioning
@Carolina1 exactly!! Mfs always trying to compare and put woman against each other
Mariah can hit octaves and notes and shit like a bird, but t Tina can sing with soul and make you cry.
