CHARACTER…building character… that’s what Pastor Rick had always said as a reason why we are here…to prepare us for heaven. Pastor Andy did not dwell clearly on that. It is easy to formulate plans and platforms and tell people this is what I will do just to get votes…but character as demonstrated in the past is the ultimate proof of their sincerity and the kind of heart they have. I felt like he was actually leading us to one candidate.
"Dream Big Because You Have a Big God" As Christians, it may be worth taking a step back, think bigger, and ask: "How can we have a candidate that checks ALL our boxes?" Maybe we can help build a system that allows that? Maybe we become that candidate? Maybe we build up and support such a candidate? I do not understand why are we're encouraged to settle for someone that is self-serving, untrustworthy, unqualified, and a bully at heart. I find it impossible to look my grand children in the eye, and tell them I voted for someone like that to manage our country.
Pastor like you said neither candidate checks all the boxes. Proverbs 12:22: "The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy."Proverbs 6:16-19: Among the things that the Lord hates are "a lying tongue" and "a false witness who pours out lies." This is also a "Truth". The Lord doesn't just dislike liars he detests lying and deception. I believe that we Christians need to humble ourselves and pray that the Lord will pour out his spirit upon all flesh. He says if we lift Him up he would draw all men unto himself. We cannot think or believe that the Lord will usher in his holy spirit through a vehicle of lies and deceit. This is why I can't vote for Trump. Laws do not draw men to God only the Holy Spirit can truly change the hearts of people. The Bible also says to try the spirits and see if they are of God. His spirit is not good. John 8:44: Jesus says that lying is a characteristic of the devil, calling him the "father of lies." Matthew 24:24: Jesus warns, "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." This highlights that even strong believers ("the elect") are at risk of being deceived by false miracles and teachings in the end times. Just because this man seems untouchable does not mean he is of God. Be aware church try the spirits and see if it is of God. I apologize for the long response.
exactly I will also add "Some day there will be a king who rules with integrity, and national leaders who govern with justice. Each of them will be like a shelter from the wind and provide safe covering in storms, they will refresh others like streams flowing in a desert. Their eyes and ears will be open to the needs of the people. They will not be rash and reckless hotheads. Instead they will act with understanding and they will say what they mean. In that day, ungodly fools will no longer be called great and scoundrels wont be given positions of honor. A foolish leader speaks foolishly and thinks up new ways to do mischief. What he does AND what he says are BOTH and insult to the Lord! He never feeds the hungry or gives thirsty people anything to drink. The scoundrel's methods are wicked. He constantly lies, is cruel and unmoved by the pleas of the poor and hurting, and he denies them justice and their rights. But a good leader plans good things to do good, and those good things make him a good leader. - isaiah 32:1-8
Please just keep in mind that Trump is pro life unlike the other side. Trump or Harris meet all expectations, but God used David and Moses who both killed, yet he used them. Set aside personality. Look at policies about what does God value? 2 genders, God loves America, Sacred marriage. We must get back to God’s standards. God will take care of the rest. Thanks
I agree this is an important topic. However, I would not use the word personality to describe a critical factor. I would use the word character. Paster Rick has always emphasized that your character is what's important and what you will take to heaven. It is difficult for me to vote for a person who is a habitual liar and has probably broken all of the Ten Commandments. You can't count on his policies because he has been on both sides of nearly every issue over the years, even abortion. He has also stated that he has never asked Jesus for forgiveness. I am not sure that that matches our definition of a Christian.
@@DaveBauer165 Yes - character matters and integrity matters! This was not addressed in the sermon yesterday. This, in my opinion, is what’s wrong with evangelicals nowadays. They care about policies but do not care about the integrity and character of who holds office. When Nixon was caught in the Watergate scandal, he was asked to vacate the office of the President. We have someone running that makes Watergate look like DisneyLand compared to what he’s done and been convicted for in a court of law. Yet, Christians continue to support him. It’s really quite unbelievable and very sad.

thanks for having this conversation, its not an easy thing in todays world to put yourself out there and talk about these things, and they need to be discussed, in a civil manner of course.
Really disappointed in Pastor Andy here. There was really no reason to discuss politics - we get enough of that toxicity in our daily lives. But then he goes on to basically tell us how a Christian should/would cast their ballot; and it's quite obvious which party he thinks a Christian should vote for. His facts are also incorrect and misleading. No states 'allow abortion up to the 9th month.' There exist states that permit abortion later in pregnancy under certain circumstances, those that involve the health or life of the mother or severe fetal anomalies. Also, no states take away your children if you disagree with their gender. The only circumstances when the government may remove a child from their household involves abuse and neglect. Rather, these gender-affirming laws protect families that seek gender-affirming care; their efforts cannot be considered criminal. Also, how can he call these false statements 'evil' and not also call efforts to build a wall and deport refugees as 'evil?' Or how does the belief in the sanctity of life also not translate into common sense gun laws and gun access restrictions? Overall, he clearly told us how he voted and that according to him, is the Christian way. By concentrating on politics and current events, he is missing the larger picture of God's kingdom. I will pray for him and hope he receives mentorship from Pastor Rick Warren.
I agree with your comments. The fact that Pastor Andy misrepresented the facts regarding abortion and gender affirming care are alarming and disappointing. For those interested in what Pastor Rick would say, his 2020 message a week before the election is available on You Tube.
Pastor Andy made good points, which he supported with bible verses. His message is aligned with biblical teaching and with God's word. Truth is truth. We need to pray for guidance as we vote and decide what direction do we want this country to go in, towards God's will or away from God's will. Sometimes we have to look past a candidate's personality flaws and look at their policy. Vote policy not personality! Blessings to all!! May God bless this country and keep us in His peace.
Thank you for this message. I have been saying and praying that pastors would be bringing a message as such. I visit this church when I’m in CA where my sister lives! I’m so encouraged that I’m hearing this! I go to a large church in Charlotte but have yet to hear anything about voting and the urgency for this election.

Ephesians 5:3-7…3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person-such a person is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.[a] 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.
