  • Big Boy steam engine #4014 heads out on its first tour of the UP system after being completely rebuilt in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It spent the previous 60 years sitting dormant in a California museum. Here it is first seen gliding into west Omaha near 84th street. Then it arrives at Omaha Union Station and picks up its train, which was patiently waiting for it at the station. The last shot is a view of the first operation of 4014 off of UP rails (since the rebuild), as it glides down "the hill" from OUS on the BNSF mainline, en route to the UP display track near 11th and Cuming St, across the street from the baseball stadium.

They should put 1943 up near the front.

The reason it was on the back was because the train was making a maneuver which required it double back and go in reverse for several miles up the river line, the 1943 was used as the lead unit for that segment of the move

Oxolotleman I’m pretty sure it will be put on the front when 4014 leaves for the UP Museum Special.
