    SPRINTS! Awesome. My dad drove late models but my uncle, eventually my cousins, drove open wheel - midgets, sprints, winged sprints. My uncle is enshrined at the High Banks Hall of Fame in Bellevue, KS (John Yonke). So glad this piece of mosports is getting due exposure. The cars are batsh!t crazy to drive, so the folks that drive them have to be at that same batsh!t level. Super fun to watch. From a spectator standpoint - cannot be beat, hands down. Thanks for all you are doing for this subculture of mosports.

    Really admire Brad Sweet. Being around him at Kelly's Pub when he didn't have two nickles to rub together... never doubting his talent behind the wheel, to now. Congrats guy, you have earned it. I myself would never pay to watch wing racing but went to Kokomo this year and had a great time! Will be going to the series closer at Putnumville here in a few weeks. So I am a huge fan of both Brad and Kyle and starting to see the value in Wing Sprint Car racing.

      I was supposed to go to Putnamville, but lucky me, Enterprise screwed up my reservation and had no car and I couldn't get there. I hope they come back to LPS, or even consider Terre Haute, although the last WoO race I went to there, the track was in horrible condition.

    Idk. I've grown up my whole life liking pretty much everything on dirt. I didn't know there was really a divide. The only thing I've noticed is that certain areas/tracks steer towards certain types of dirt cars, but wouldn't really consider it a divide.
    I just want to see good racing. I don't care what it is.

    Kinda sad last night was Dale's first ever sprint car race. I'm glad he finally got to one. They really do have to be seen to be believed. I always had fun taking people to their first sprint race. Take em down to the entry of turn 1 and watch their reaction to just how fast a sprinter enters the corner. Jaw dropping and breath taking is the best way to describe them. Living in central and then moving to northern California we were really lucky to watch both Brad and Kyle when they started out and then become the drivers they are today at Chico, Calistoga, Marysville, Hanford, Tulare, Santa Maria, Perris. Once they got rollin' there was no stopping them. Both have turned into two of the best ever. If it hauls ass and turns right to go left and you get dirt at the bottom of your beer, I'm Good ! !

    I've been going to this track since 1972. The gentleman that bought it, Don Martin, (when the original three investors ran out of money), built the place and developed the reputation it currently has. I don't necessarily dislike LM's. However, with these modern LM chassis over the last fifteen or so years, the way the 410 drivers want the track to be and the way the Super drivers want it are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I enjoy watching racing on a track when it is as fast as it can be, like last night. And I prefer open wheel racing like 410's and N.E. style Modifieds. Great to see Dale, Jr. and Mike Davis there. Love Dale, Jr. download and I hope they enjoyed the show. 410 racing is best enjoyed live.

    As great as it sounds to have a "New series," all it will do is run up the cost to build a competitive car. Before we know it, you will have to have a sponsor at your local dirt tracks, or you will be 2 laps down at the finish. It will bring in money for the tracks and communities for a week, but corporate money will outprice normal families with high ticket prices.

    • @cliff4695
      @cliff4695 Рік тому +3

      You get paid like $1,000-$1,500 if you just start the A main. That's the winning purse at some local tracks. Trust me, if you want to compete for a top 10. You need at least 800hp, 2 good fronts, a brave new left and right rear. Than just hope you got the stagger right because if you didn't, you need another new rear tire. That's ever race weekend, I've seen plenty of guys, buying used tires and trying to get 3 shows out of them. What you just said, has already been happening for the last 30 years

    • @nickbrightwell7465
      @nickbrightwell7465 Рік тому

      @cliff4695 i agree. This just makes it worse. Nascar has out priced small teams. Daytona used to have over 50 try to qualify and so did talladega and most weeks around 45 guys showed up to try to mke the field on qualify time. Hopefully I am wrong in my thinking

    • @cliff4695
      @cliff4695 Рік тому

      @@nickbrightwell7465 nascar implemented to many rules and regulations. It became so costly, that teams couldn't afford to race. They don't have practice for a reason. Less cars being torn up, less tires to buy. Nascar tried to go mainstream. They were the first bud light victim and nobody sees it. They want new fans, they just didn't realize new fans are the kids of the old fans. Sprint car racing is alive and well. These big series are not meant for local guys to compete in but like all racers, they will never turn down a challenge. My family was involved with Chad Kemenah years ago, when he ran local NW ohio tracks. It was so expensive back then, and that was 20+ years ago. We had tires stacked, titanium everything, $50K engines in the trailer, 2 full cars ready, and we were racing for $2,500 purses. It was a very expensive hobby but a business write off as well

      Not caring about tradition is how NASCAR got itself in trouble. I've timed it many times before. It takes less than 2 minutes to push off a field. Things that drag a show on are endless track prep, 20 minute intermissions to sell hot dogs, unnecessary yellows, drivers stopping on the track when they could pull off, and open reds. (I think we've gotten away from the open reds by now.)

      LOT more to it than adding a Starter/wiring/button. Ur getn into a very small drive train. And a Direct drive @ that! And very lil room. There's A lot to it. And a lot more to go wrong/fail.
