Yeah I think this really is the factor a lot of people aren't mentioning. People are surprised that there's a good DC product, but I think HBO being in charge as a lot to do with that
HBO has always been known to never interfere with and just let great creators create. You'd think, by now, other big studios would've learned to do the same
I love how the purpose of this show seems to be to wipe out all of Gotham’s normal criminals to make way for the more iconic Batman villains later down the line.
Yeah the best part is if you were to just watch the Batman and skip to part two without watching this, you'd just assume that carmine was the end of the falcone empire and penguin subsequently took over. But this is like the connective tissue which makes Gotham feel much more alive.
If you think about it this series also grounds normal criminals with the iconic ones. Riddler and Penguin feel real, and that they're also 'normal' but are just smarter than the rest. Thats the definition of what Batman is for Superheroes so this show + the movie makes this feel more real than any other non-animated Batman content has ever done.
I was getting all excited at the end with the music leading them further down into the tunnels. I was like, “Are we really getting to see the beginning of THE classic underground lair for the damn Penguin?!” When he lit them on fire…When Sofia killed Johnny in front of all the new Gigagante family henchmen…I can not get over this show. The acting. The sets. I can’t rave about this show anymore. It’s certainly that breath of fresh air and gives me hope that more comic book stories can be told properly.
You’d think Vitti would have kept more quiet seeing he was about to be frozen to death earlier. But he still couldn’t figure out who was running the show.
There is a great piece of foreshadowing from last episode that pays off in this one. During the flashback where Sophia finds her mothers body there are also some suitcases in the room. This hints at to what is confirmed this episode, Isabella Falcone was getting ready to leave her husband and that is why he killed her. Great attention to detail from the show.
There's also the fact that they dropped that it was cold out when Sofia uses it for the torture, which causes the mushrooms to die in the shipment scene
Yeah it was definitely the fire suppression ansul system that stuff is toxic and damages stainless steel and aluminum, it definitely was the main cause. The other temperature and atmospheric changes afterward didn't help either

Tbh I'm hoping they'll not go with court of owls for second Batman movie. They should hint about them here and there in this show or other spinoffs, but not pull attention to them. Iirc the whole "wow" moment for their original debut was the fact that it wasn't rookie Batman, it was proper Batman and he had no idea about their existence.

My prediction is that Sofia will hit Oz's gang, where Oz will have to leave Vic behind, then Sofia will torture the hell out of Vic, until Vic gives up Oz's mother ,..in the end Oz will come out on top, but the fact that Vic gave up his mother will haunt him, whether Vic lives at the end of the series or not will not matter, but if he does live, Oz will definitely kill him.

Such a good show. The tunnels is calling me home. Talk about Sofia wanting to create her own legacy and not wanting to leave the shadow of her father was the right move creating her own path. Also we get to see The Chief of Police from The Batman already realizing Sofia Falcone is guilty knowing she had something to do with murdering her own family members. Oswald Cobblepot is a made man. He is literally Bullseye. It's hilarious to see Sal Maroni getting shanked in his prison cell and I knew he was going to survive as Clancy hinted about it at NYCC 2024 which I went to was just amazing.

I think he'll get admitted to Arkham or Blackgate and start working directly with the other villains from the inside, who will have an interest in taking down the elite families. They don't need the falcones or moronis. I think the police will look the other way because they think the problem is gone, then comes part 2 when they have bigger problems to focus on.

My theory is that Dr. Rush will become The Mad Hatter in this universe. All the clues are there. The new drug is made from mushrooms. His kink is mind-controlling women. The scene with Sofia and the little girl in the atrium in episode 4 had a very fairytale quality to it. Heck, her new fur coat may even be made of rabbit. I just don't think you cast Theo Rossi in a throwaway role, and they're clearly setting up something bigger for his character later on. We know they like to play with the character names too. Oz Cobb, Edward Nashton ect... So Julian Rush could easily become Jervis Tetch. We don't know what happened to the twins in The BATMAN after the flood either, but they were Falcone muscle, so they could bring them back as a take off of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, and you have your new Wonderland Gang to rival The PENGUIN. The story of The Long Halloween/Dark Victory was about how organized crime in Gotham was taken over by the freaks, and Mad Hatter is a character in that storyline.

The show just keeps getting better! And I think the trolley station's look is a nod to City Hall Station, which is no longer used but was the first station to open in NYC in 1904. The beautiful arches can still be seen if you ride the 6 train through its turnaround loop, as well as on special NY Transit Authority tours which I highly recommend. Trolleys, a quieter, non-polluting, faster than buses tech, were also largely shut down due to corruption from GM and other bus markers.
This Show is what actual comic book fans really want.. No unnecessary dogshit shoved to everyones throats. Just good writing, character arc story telling and of course respectnto the source material.. Fans are happy and thats why the show is a success.. no crap blaming fans with media shills bullshit..
Nice to see the Invincible compendiums in the back. I thought Shogun was going to be my favorite show of the year, but I think The Penguin will beat it if it ends well. If the quality keeps up, it may be my favorite thing DC has done. The tone brings me back to the Daredevil days.
Too expensive, plus this show is meant to focus on Penguin. Putting in too many Batman references takes away from that, which is why we haven't seen anything directly related to him. Yet.

Crazy how a show nobody asked for has been so good. By the time the next Batman movie comes around there’s gonna be actual stakes when Batman faces off with the penguin. It also has allowed him to become more formidable in a way powerless villains don’t normally get in recent years with superhero movies/ tv.

But in reality batman let the criminal underworld run with that story. And continued to follow sid the squid until he was captured by rupert thorne the man who employed sid. To which than batman came in and captured both sid and rupert . . I remember in the interview matt said he wont even know if anyone would be able to like oz by the end of the show . My theory: cob is gonna intentionally give up his own mother maybe even victor. To sal and sofia. In order to figure out where sal and sofia are hiding out. And whose to say him sacrificing his own mother is just another red herring he gives sofia in order to think she has control. And he’ll blow all of them up in one building . . ANOTHER THEORY: im just guessing at this point but someone said victor is going to be zsaz. Sofia will torture victor by counting the days/hours oz isnt there by tallying up his body with a knife
Sophia made a mistake not going to the Triads first. She made sure they knew the Bliss deal was her op then left them hanging. Now she's with the Maroni's. Oz is going to spin this as a double cross to the Triads and bring them in on his side. Sophia seems to forget Oz ran the drops for her dad. He knows everyone.

He wasn’t Gordon’s right hand man Batman implied that he knew that that cop was dirty so him trying to intimidate Sophia shows the shift in the gcpd and that the falcones don’t have any control over them anymore
Had to watch it twice but I did enjoy Pattinsons Batman, watched the second time just before this show came out. This show is just brilliant and Farrell and Milioti are so on point. Sad feeling that the Batman part two could be the last time we see of theese iterations.

I felt as the Gotham City Water door has more significance to the penguin, he seems disgusted as he looked away. He did say his brothers use to spend a lot of time in those tunnels. Maybe that’s where they died.

The writing for the character & acting is a little odd, it’s the one character I just can’t understand why he has a place within the story (yet)

This show just keeps getting better. i have no real idea where the last episode is heading. Easily the best thing on TV since Better Call Saul.
The show just keeps getting better! And I think the trolley station's look is a nod to City Hall Station, which is no longer used but was the first station to open in NYC in 1904. The beautiful arches can still be seen if you ride the 6 train through its turnaround loop, as well as on special NY Transit Authority tours which I highly recommend. Trolleys, a quieter, non-polluting, faster than buses tech, were also largely shut down due to corruption from GM and other bus markers.
You know a series is good when channels like this one can make a nice living pointing out all the Easter eggs, and *still miss a few.*
This Show is what actual comic book fans really want.. No unnecessary dogshit shoved to everyones throats. Just good writing, character arc story telling and of course respectnto the source material.. Fans are happy and thats why the show is a success.. no crap blaming fans with media shills bullshit..

Crazy how a show nobody asked for has been so good. By the time the next Batman movie comes around there’s gonna be actual stakes when Batman faces off with the penguin. It also has allowed him to become more formidable in a way powerless villains don’t normally get in recent years with superhero movies/ tv.
Tbh, if Penquin is gonna use the tunnels to move around beneath Gotham i habe to thunk Bats is going to run into them as you would think he would be using them too, if not eventually.
The scene with Sofia wearing the black fur and putting the money bag in the middle for everyone to „feed of it“ reminds me of a alpha wolf sharing the prey, just a fantastic visual

Sophia made a mistake not going to the Triads first. She made sure they knew the Bliss deal was her op then left them hanging. Now she's with the Maroni's. Oz is going to spin this as a double cross to the Triads and bring them in on his side. Sophia seems to forget Oz ran the drops for her dad. He knows everyone.
the Maronis were always going to double cross the penguin too at the swap, they came out and shot at him first.

I think it’s been talked about but I remember seeing someone give this show a horrible review. Got me thinking how mad I was that it wasn’t going to be good. Whoever that reviewer was he/she was WRONG. One of the best shows this year. Paul’s the GOAT. Had to edit that in.

Had to watch it twice but I did enjoy Pattinsons Batman, watched the second time just before this show came out. This show is just brilliant and Farrell and Milioti are so on point. Sad feeling that the Batman part two could be the last time we see of theese iterations.
