This girl is amazing. A real master of the Guhzeng. The culture clash in this video is fantastic, she is playing an american pop song on a traditional chinese instrument in the streets of France.
I'm really stunned at just how many different sounds and tones that single instrument can make. It's ancient and technically sophisticated at the same. It must take a lifetime to learn to play like that.

Instrument is called Guzheng 古筝. It has been played by Chinese for thousands years. There are many famous traditional Chinese music pieces played by Guzheng. Very beautiful stories behind. Like高山流水，彩云追月， 十面埋伏等。

That instrument is called Guzheng and also Gayageum. If you can't pronounce either of those, most english speakers just call it a zither. Is this really the only song you've heard her play yet? You NEED to hear her renditions of Canon and Someone Like You. I never cared for the original version of Someone Like You but her rendition makes me tear up, it demonstrates that this instrument can express more emotion than the human voice.
You never heard guzheng lol, its almost use in every movie/drama in chinese films!
The instrument is likely a Guzheng, from the information on the video, it a type of Chinese Zither. An instrument consisting of many strings stretched across a thin, flat body usually played by strumming or Plucking.

This is the next instrument I want to buy, whether or not I can ever play it well. I’m even willing to delay purchasing the hang for which I’ve been saving.

Her covers of La Vie en Rose and See You Again are sublime.
To be honest, this is a small part of her talent. She has many other videos, and it has blown my mind. My favorite is the song by the Eagles, "Hotel California." It is not so much that she plays it well, but that the instrument seems to be singing the song as well. If you have doubt, please check it out. PS, I have to add that you have no doubt that she is a professionalist.

This is a beautiful rendition of the MJ song. As for a sung version is my personal fav the Alien Antfarm version as I think it sounds better then MJ.

I watched this video earlier today. It amazed me. It was cool to see it again.
Recently found the short movie Michael Jackson made, "Moonwalker" (1988), that was basically then entire album & where footage for the original "Smooth Criminal" video came from. It's 1 of 3 movies i know of that are basically albums made into a movie. "Yellow Submarine" is the Beatles album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
The 3rd one i know of is interesting. "Interstella 5555" is Daft Punk's album where "One More Time" & "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" comes from. After they made the album, they decided to do an anime & contacted their favorite artist in Japan to make it. Instead of shooting music videos. I forget when they went faceless with the masks, but it was around this era.

Re: your pronunciation of Jinxuan:
The letter X is pronounced like "sh" in the Chinese Pinyin orthography. When they came up with their current orthography, they took letters that they thought to be redundant-X, Q, and C, which essentially make the K sound or are letter combinations with K- and reassigned these letters to sounds which are very common in Chinese which would otherwise be written using letter combinations. X got the sh sound, Q got the ch sound, and C got the ts sound. So Xi is pronounced "Shi", Qing is pronounced "Ching", and Cao is pronounced "Tsao".
The quick way to remember the pronunciation of X in this orthography is that names like the current leader of China's name, Xi Jinping, can be turned into a mnemonic: just remember "That's what Xi said".

taking it to the next level by combining traditional instrument and modern music is so cool. other countries like a mongolian rock band also used their traditional instrument with their rock music and it was so awesome ❤
