He was the original tough and rough action hero. The first movie I saw him in was with Elvis Presley as his boxing coach in KID GALAHAD in 1962. It was a terrific movie and ELVIS sang his heart out and fights as well. Then Charles Bronson went on to make Death Wish and whole bunch of action movies and became my favourite actor. Two Thumbs Uo!

One of the GREATEST ACTORS EVER. Bronson had a screen presence that was magnetic. Just watching him was entertaining, for example in The Mechanic, where he sets up his first assassination at the very start of the movie. No dialog for the first 15 minutes. In Chato's land, where he speaks only 12 lines in the ENTIRE MOVIE: and these are Excellent movies!
In the 1980s there were a few films that were not that great, such as Love and bullets, Assassination & St. Yves. Don't get me wrong, Bronson was never a bad actor, he was just in a few bad films. Nonetheless his legacy lives on forever in the history of Cinema. He was always like an underdog, a loner, a wanderer, a touch of a sad look in his eyes, very notable in Death Hunt, which made him so sympathetic. For me and for many others that I see here, judging by the comments, he was one of the GREATEST ACTORS who to ever walk the face of the earth.

The last scene made me smile. It reminded me of one night at at club when I saw a tiny little lass on the dance floor being hassled by a guy for a dance. He was all over her and just wouldn't take no for an answer. My table was at the edge of the dance floor and they were just on the other side of the rail, so this happened right in front of me. Anyway, After about the fifth "No !" she was pretty irritated with the guy taking liberties, so she took a step back and gave him the best kick in the balls that I've ever seen given. She connected perfectly and he went down for the count. The guy had friends who were immediately helping him, but he was floored for awhile. She got out of there to avoid having vengeful, drunken guys waiting for her outside when her night was done. As for me, having that ringside seat, I burst out laughing when she dropped that guy twice her size and couldn't stop for a minute or two. That was one smart young lady.

I think Charles Bronson was in one great flick: "Hard Times" with James Colburn as 'Speed' and Strother Martin as Poe. Strother Martin is the man who said originally: "What we got heah......is......failure....to communicate!" (From Cool Hand Luke). In Hard Times, Bronson is almost ethereal as this guy from nowhere. ..who kicks ass when he must. A perfect roll for him.

My top 5 for Bronson: DEATH HUNT(1981 w/ Lee Marvin), MR MAJESTYK (1974), MURPHY'S LAW (1986), THE EVIL THAT MEN DO (1984) and DEATHWISH SERIES (all 5 films--count as one opus). Honorable mentions: THE MECHANIC (1971) and VIOLENT CITY-aka THE FAMILY(1970 w/ Telly Savalas). I'm sure we all have our faves for Bronson, but these are the ones that made the biggest impressions on me. I seem to recall Charles Bronson being in an episode of the old TV series THE UNTOUCHABLES. Any youtubers MY AGE recall if this is true? I can't find any Bronson/Untouchables clips on here, so I'm wondering if I imagined it.

Bronson was the man. That was before the other icons came on the scene. I liked him because if his unassuming persona, and in real life he also seemed like a humble guy. I related to those qualities as a shy teenager trying to find my way.💙🧡

That's not a very nice way to address a stranger is it. We can criticise someone without that kind of language. That person was expressing a personal feeling about Bronson. Bronson was indeed a manly man, yet vulnerable too, not brash or arrogant, that's part of what made him such a likeable actor😊😊

When this movie came out, I was surprised at the number of men around my dad's age who made no secret that, "yeah, that's what I'd love to do to some creeps." Paul Kersey was their hero. The reaction was a little disorienting when up to then all these adults around me were trying to keep us teenagers on the straight and narrow and we were on our best behaviour around them.

It's too damn bad actors like Charles, Clint, Chuck, and even Sylvester are all getting old like the rest of us. This shit they make and release today can not in any way compare to them old action movies and the actors starring in them!!!

Kersey simply does what most us lack the balls to do. He does not hope for any justice because he already knows no judge and no law can really help him anyway. He lost his hope in any justice and becomes judge, trial and sentence. And the sentence is always DEATH.
