also a good thing to look for is if they sound like they have a tight cough. my son has a trachea and does nebulizers. if nebs get skipped or if he is sick it can make it to where he cant cough strong enough making him hive a tight cough

I just had an infant patient (not intubated) where when I listened to their lung sounds I heard inspiration in three broken up clear inhales (like the same intake noise but with 2 milliseconds long pauses between the sound) and a wheeze on exhale. I was wondering if I did the assessment wrong, if such lung sounds are normal, or if not what does it indicate? (I am an EMT so I have only been trained to listen for rhales, rhonci, crackles, wheezing, or stridor )

Hi there. How’s your baby? My baby does this crackling sound after eating. Dr says it’s normal but I’m worried. Sounds like he has mucus in this throat.

Rawaa Felemban because nurses spend the most time with patients and need to know how to perform a respiratory assessment as well.
