Saint Pierre - Beautiful town with a horrible story/ The Worst Volcanic Disaster/Town built on bones

Every city tells a tale
And St. Pier does not prevail.
Behind beauty you will find,
Cruelty that scares the mind.
Please, be careful where you step
Cause it is here that you will kep,
Both horrors and delight alike
As through the city you go hike.

The colonial town of St. Pierre, on Martinique's west coast, has a colorful past. Rich from the earnings of the sugar and rum trades, it was once considered the Paris of the Caribbean-until 1902, when it was destroyed by the violent eruption of the island's largest volcano, Mount Pelée. The whole population of the beautiful, wealthy and prosperous city (over 30000 people) was terminated in a short course of a few minutes 🌋
It happened more than a hundred years ago but you can still see a lot of evidence of this tragedy all around the area.
In this Episode you will:
0-0:40 - Enjoy the spectacular scenery from a flying birds point of view upon the Saint Pierre harbor;
0:56-1:36 - Observer a humpback whale swimming around our dinghy and showing it’s huge tale or a back;
1:54-3:55 - Go ashore and discover a lot of old ruins that was left after a devastated disaster over 100 years ago;
3:55-6:09 - Go to the volcanological museum to be introduced with details of a life in St.Pierre before the tragedy and the terrible catastrophe of May 8th, 1902 itself.
6:09-7:58 - See grand ruins of a Théâtre de Saint-Pierre that was a famous center of culture in the West Indies and a famous Cyparis dungeon which was sheltered one of the three survivors;
8:00-11:25 - Discover absolutely adorable place to visit - ZOO of Martinique (in the past the largest plantation on the island);

12:01-15:05 - See two more incredible sites: Ruins of the Bureaux du Génie and Ruins of the Maison Coloniale de Santé;
15:06-16:19 - Saint Pierre is a living town again but it has never regained its importance. Though it still an amazing destination for cruisers and tourists;
16:19-end - Take a look at a famous The Cathedral of Saint-Pierre (Our Lady of the Safe Port) build with a help of pirates. Behind it you will find an ancient cemetery.
Walk around the new plantation of sugar cane with a dramatic backdrop of Mount Pelée in the distance.
