Use a maker to mark your depths. Prep the fittings with sandpaper to ensure a smooth surface. Remove burrs. Your fittings on the hot water and cold water valve side are too close to each other to ensure a proper press. There are minimum distances needed between fittings and you should not butt them together and press. Just my 2 cents.
Street 90 would have really sped that entire process up and most likely fit better between the two supply lines. But Viega products are the best in the industry not necessarily the cheapest but 100% the best, for copper and steel press applications. Good video great tools and products used here
Very informative for a beginner. Why don’t you show people that you should NEVER put tools or fittings on a finished surface. A piece of cardboard or a rag works great to prevent scratches!
tighten those male adapters more, i guarantee one of those leaked...don't use that garbage blue monster thread tape and if you do use dope too...just a helpful hint from somebody that has ran into those exact problems
Slick tool & procedure. Just curius as to how the O Rings hold up in hot, dry conditions like in the Desert ? Thanks for the demo. Very good demonstration. I suppose there are plenty of fitting suppliers ? Thanks.
They work perfectly, hot/dry climates don't affect them at all. The O Rings are readily available at most plumber supply shops. They're available through the website linked in this video's description as well. You don't have to use Viega; there are other rings that are compatible with the press system.
Guy ain’t no plumber that’s for sure; bet that was one of the most crooked valves ever installed 😂. It is a video so I’ll stop. It is an amazing tool I have one; but I doubt those o rings last a third as long as solder. I only use press for quick repairs in a wall, under floor and exposed work in mechanical room. Other then that solder it; your work is your name and when people are paying for copper it should be premium. Type L and good fittings should last easily 100 years maybe double if the water quality is good. I might be wrong but I don’t think propress fittings are going to last much more then 50 years. Most houses I work on are close to seventy years old and the copper pipe seems as good as new when we tie in. No denying you can make mega bucks with this tool but don’t be afraid to inform your clients and let them choose. They will let you charge them a little more for a better product if you can show them why most of the time. If it’s easy to get to I go for the press tool. If a leak is going to cause my client to have to call 3 other contractors to complete a repair even if it is well down the road, solder it people. In the bathroom behind tile bathtubs and all that I’ll keep on burning fittings. Good luck 👍
great way to screw yourself over is to not fasten the valve and wingback before you press, shit won't always be perfectly lined up and square after you press it all
I have seen these fitting fail by doing exactly the application your using it & not following instructions. All cut pipe must be deburred and depth should be correctly marked. Never guess. When its done incorrectly it can be undetermined until testing the pipe work.

No that's fine for 1/2" pipe but larger diameter pipe you are right, gotta watch that

How many people live in 1 house for 50 years. It will be someone else's problem

You failed to plump the shower head tubing.
