Just loving this. This Lawyer is very well read and knows his stuff. Especially he's on point with his dates. I can listen to him all day. I wish all this could be put together for our youth to know about our history. We should keep our history alive
No matter how embarrassing some aspects of Ghana history is we should always remember that no country has perfect history. Today i heard it was around WW1 that European discovered that watching your hands kills germs but before then Muslims have been cleaning themselves for many centuries. Folk and knives for eating was a results of Europeans protecting their foods from snatchers because food was difficult to comeby as the weather made it impossible in some areas to grow food. Such touch harsh environment develop they psyche to fight and take from others. At that time we from Africa could grow our foods with ease, had lots of medicines that Europeans even call our doctors to bring herbs to treat their many plagues. History is complicated and thats my point, all we can do is learn from it, take what inspires and make conscious effort not to repeat the ones that disgust us. Peace to all Ghanaians and the entire African continent.
Ashantis were very smart, imagine we all came together as one Africans, no European power would have messed with us. Unity is Power let’s come together as one continent.
Let me add that the British have a war ship named HMS Ashanti. The Ashanti gave the British a run for their money even with inferior weapons. Let's not forget the British conquered half the world but they couldn't conquer Asante.
@@osei695British themselves acknowledged they couldn’t defeat Ashantis. They rather learnt a lot from Ashantis. Zulu, Ashanti and one last kingdom I’ve forgotten were the only kingdoms the British couldn’t defeat. It’s stated clearly in British history and museum. You can go online and read. They had upper hands because of their superior weapons and even with that they had to employ hausa people from other countries to even help the British. Infact ashantis were very wise and people no cap
This man needs to write a book. Such history needs to be preserved at all cost. I don't miss your programmes on Wednesdays because of Lawyer Anokye. Big ups Max TV
What he is doing is also preserving the history as Internet is being archived by the second. You can Google Internet archives as example there are several of them. Nowadays there are Tb of microchips as small as thumb basically I mean it's easier now to store so much because of technology. I get your point that its needs to deliberate. Peace to you
The British know all about Ashanti kingdom, but they will never help to put it on a big screen for the whole world to know they could not achieve their agenda( the golden stool)because of the Ashanti spiritual warriors. At the end, they defeated us physically but not spiritually. We still have our golden stool. We thank our ancestors for their sacrifice, especially our mother Queen Yaa Asantewaa
The white man learnt the battalion fight from the Ashantis. Ashantis divided the fighters into different divisions. Namely: adonten, benkum, Nifa, and adonten. Each division comprised thousand people. So if you kill one division another division of thousand will come forward.
It's not entirely true that we've got settlers in very township in Asante. My home town [Bonwre] is a classical example. We don't have a zongo in Bonwre.
This lawyer is short changing Ghanaian history particularly, the history of Asante. Denkyira is the premier Akan Group in Ghana. The Oyoko clan came from Banda to settle in Denkyira with strict supervision of Denkyirahene during the reign of Nana Boa Amponsem. Denkyira existed 200 years before Asante was created. There is a saying that “ KOTOKO SUM AMPONSEM” and it still holds. Asantemam is an uncompleted remake of Denkyira by Anokye. The AGONA clan, the largest in Asante and in Ghana are Denkyira. Denkyira is organic and need not praise herself in the annals of Akan history. “Denkyira wo be ka”.
I disagree with the Zongo settlements. The Zongos were created by Asantehene for the Northerners who helped Asantes fought wars. Also, due to the fact that the Northerners were fearsome, they lead the war (front runners). The Northerners were held in high esteem and for that they must be close to the Ahenefia (palace). That is the reason why there is Zongo in every major Asante town and usually it is close to the palaces. Therefore, for the Historian Anokye to say the Zongo settlements were created by the British to keep Asante in check is totally FALSE. However, he gave very insightful information that I have learnt a lot.
U can disagree but, fact is Hausas never migrated to the gold coast, present day Ghana like the Dagombas, Kusasi or frafra did. We learnt of Ndewura Djakpa, Torhazia, Naa Gbeewa. They were not Hausa men. So he is right. The Dagombas are part of Ashanti.
@@eyramtettevi1802 The Dagombas are Ashantis great alliance. That is why Ashantis gave them settlements which turn out to be become Zongo. The Dagombas are Muslim so they harbor or receive their kind in their settlements that is why they welcome Hausa people into their settlements now called Zongo.
You are right to partially extent. The original palace at Adum, where the Kumasi fort is situated is not surrounded by Northerners, but by Asantes. However, l can side with you on an account of the proximity of Bantama -warlord (originally the Dagomba ethnic hub) to Adum.
The historian has said it earlier The British brought army's from Gambia, India, Nigeria and seira Leon all because of Ashanti So the kingdom is very powerful and great.
The first Zongo people were not made up of Hausas but rather they were Mendes. The Mendes were living side by side with the Akans when we were living at the Bono Manso.
@@agoogo5026 what is the meaning of zongo, (zongo means Newtown or newsite n besides I'm talking about Hausa people.cos northerns were aliens to Asante's especially dagomba n mind u Hausa are not Ghanaians or not from northerns.

Your stories must be turn into movies
bro.... the Ghanaian movie industry is missing a whole lot of real historic event in the arts ooo....

What a lesson!!!
We have studied rubbish at school, God !!!!
Lawyer has kept me up all night. I just can’t stop listening to him. He’s so knowledgeable, something extremely lacking in Ghana.
Despite possessing vast knowledge, there is an unmistakable aura of extraordinary humility. Lawyer Anokye is an Asset!
Very humble indeed!!

Kyidom. The back division
"Preemu" is the name of the gun called "Perry Morten", which of course the Asantes could not pronounced. The British fire every mid day in kumasi.

Politicians have destroyed Asante Kingdom. But Asante remains stronger

Hopefully, those who don’t Asante pride are informed. That said, One Nation, One Pride.

Because of food (saldine) , Fante betrayed Asante
not only fantes, but the whole of the coast excluding Anlos, Elminas and Nzemas.
Aaah 😂😂😂😂😂😂
There's always one. They will sell their birthright for food.
I WANT TO ASK HOW DO THE ASHANTIS GET THE TWI LANGUAGE TO COMMUNICATE.?
