I’ve only just started playing the OPTCG and was really drawn to black decks so this video was brilliant to help me as a non-TCG player understand what you were doing and why!
If they have a lot of cards in hand, and you know you will live another turn safely, attacking first to remove all their counter cards and then using Issho’s ability is good to take out their win condition cards or pocket defense like rad beams etc. Since now you have trashed most of their 2k’s or 1k’s
I'd say you could've gotten lethal on that second game a little sooner. Instead of 4 Don on Lucci and 1 for Blueno's block, you could've put 5 on Lucci and 4 on Blueno to make both 10K. He'd need 3 cards to defend against each, which he didn't have. 2 of his 5 cards were events, and he had no Don. Even though you made a few miscalculations, you still managed to get back to back wins, so nice. Overall great video. I'm planning on playing Lucci once OP-03 gets released, so seeing him in action was informative. Keep up the good work 👍
Hi are you gonna do another guide for Blue Doffy after OP3? Really curious to see how you would play the deck with this new set legal! Thanks and keep up the great work :)
The deck doesn’t change too much. I did make a blue video where I talk about the general support. For Doffy you play a standard list + Kaya instead of Alvida + Three thousand worlds. I’ll eventually make a gameplay video for the deck!
Lucci can do well Katakuri only because lucci gains all the good blockers that thunderbolt can’t KO, but other than that katakuri typically beats lucci, it’s favored, I really like tempest kick as a card especially with striker ace’s running around, I think blueno is good but only in air door decks, I just dislike the fact that a lot of your cost reduction is using your 2k’s, and with the added cp support & brannew/kalifla+tempest kick triggers etc to help with consistency and hand resource issues that black had, I prefer and like the navy utility, lucci aggro does great into red and that’s why it’s good in the meta, but if you aren’t able to pressure yellow, them playing back to back 10c big moms is a guaranteed loss since you have no way to beat that anymore even if you have spent plenty of your don on defenders, only prolonging your loss, it’s a really weird meta but I think blacks strength is in its cost reduction utility and KO power, putting enough CP cards to get Kaku’s requirement is difficult at times since I’ve only put kalifla/tempest kicks/fukuro’ s in with kaku. I just like that black typically can and has run closer to 16ish 2k’s to guarantee a late game safely
@@emperorpenguinpirates-onepiece I haven’t played in many competitive tournaments yet but I’ve been playing OP3 even if it’s just the sim for the past 2-3 months while playing smoker at locals haha, i learned from ur videos months ago and like watching you play and doing the prerelease videos
Totally agree with you, bro. Tempest kick's trigger is insane and it's also a good card to have in the trash for Kaku; also the main effect is good to get rid of small characters on board (or even 4 costs if you have a Kuzan in play). Kuzan himself is really good imo because he gives you an extra card on play, cost reduction when attacking and a 5k body on board: if you establish him and Issho, you're able to clean pretty much everything on board. I run Brannew as a searcher rather than Spandam because he can get you Issho and put some cp9 cards in the trash. My testing so far tells me that the Katakuri matchup is really really hard...I don't know how to improve that, tbh. On the other hand, the red matchups (Ace, Zoro, WB) seem a lot easier.
Lets say there is a searcher for black decks that can search for every black cards is there ever any reason to pick CP9 card over Navy? Borsalino > Fukuro Sakazuki > Kaku Navy 2k > CP9 2k Thats why I dont understand why I should pick Spandam over Brannew. On top of that, having to trash CP9 cards at least feels good because you need CP9 in trash and they can be recycled anyways … but trashing Borsalino is painful. Same with Air Door, its just not worth it.

He was at 8K because of the 9beard effect, so he can counter out of 2 10K swings with 4 cards so I just went with the safe play.

I always appreciate you dropping your knowledge! This is some great insight and I’ll keep this in mind for the future.

Ithink you had lethal with 15k swing - kill kingdew - discard 2 - restand luccy - 15k swing
Hmm...I see what you're saying, but that only works if he kills the Kingdew. He has enough cards in hand to protect him.
Yeah, against Whitebeard I’ve been burned way too many times by going for lethals when I didn’t need to so I usually go the safe route.
