- Graduating senior Elizabeth Golightly, 23, got a big surprise when her sister, Navy Lt. Heather Golightly, 30, fresh off a nine-month deployment in Afghanistan, made an unexpected appearance at Florida State University's fall 2013 commencement ceremony. Later in the ceremony, Heather watched Elizabeth receive a bachelor's degree in social sciences from Florida State's College of Social Sciences and Public Policy.
Their Dad and I went to HS together. This is what will make fathers of daughters and old warrior's eyes whelp and sweat. HOOAH Dickie hooah!
Too cool - that's something you and your sister will never forget.
Kudos to our military leadership who are wise enough to realize how important it is to give leave for these special moments.

Awesome! But why did she use her work uniform? Dress uniform would have been a lot better. We (Marines) would be hung and quartered if we were to go out like that LOL. Go Navy!!
Jason Fabrao she might have gone straight there from her deployment and her dress blues were at her duty station so she couldnt get them
@@maxmikkelsen166 I don't think that's the case. I see to many videos of service personnel in fatigues. When I was in the Navy in the 60's we weren't allowed to wear our work uniforms off the base or ship. But then again they are allowed to take civilian clothes on ship now.

The ranks names are different in the navy, lieutenant= captain in the army
Colonel=captain in the navy
I want to a be naval or army officers like my uncle who was commander in the navy and my grandpa who was a retired brigadier general in the army and i want to be like them they are my heroes and my grandad passed away 3yrs ago he died at his sleep and my uncle passed away he died 5 month ago by corona virus at the hospital 😢😢😢😭😭 both of them will always be my heroes and i want to follow their footstep my dad want me to become a doctor lawyer but i want to become military officers like my uncle and my grandpa, my mom said follow your heart and study hard

Navy LT is a captain in other branches
This would be true if was USAF, USMC, or USA; but this is the US NAVY; they have to be different from everyone else.

@@couragenyika2257 the Navy has their own pattern of greens now. But several years ago they didn’t. They are allowed to wear the pattern and color of the other branches to help them look blended with unit and environment. Take the Navy corpsman for example. If they are attached to a Marine unit, they are authorized to wear the Marine digital patterns, but they’re branch patch may say US Navy instead.
Now everyone is back home with there families. 22 years of inhuman intentional war and destruction is over.

In the army, it would be captain, she is a Lt. in the Navy. That is the correct rank insignia.

First of all, they sacrifice a lot to do what the do. They DESERVE to "show off". Secondly who the hell wouldn't be confused to see someone getting all excited randomly for someone in a t shirt and jeans or something? It helps to show that they are finally reuniting after being apart for so long. Get over yourself.
