Very Informative... Thank You...
Thank you sir for your guidance. Your tutorials are helping a lot. Thank you very much sir.
Hello Sir,
I want to ask 1 question sir , in Zone 3 school building can we off the beam capacity ratio and increase 25 to 30 percent of steel, because I have read the commentary of IS13920 that commentary said in zone 3 we can provide a lower level of ductility. and thank you for the vedios sir.
Respecetd Sir,
IS 1893-2016 Part-1 suggested that Vertical ground motion should be considered if the vetical or plan irregularity is present in the building.
Also we know that, the vertical response spectra is not given in the IS 1893:2016 Part-1 and the code suggested that vertical ground motion should be considered ad 2/3 of horizontal ground motion.
1) So, can we scaled down vertical ground motion time history as 2/3 of horizontal response spectra?
OR
2) Can we scaled down vertical ground motion time history as only horizontal response spectra?
Out of two which option should be selected?
The video clearly shows responce spectrum for vertical acceleration as horizontal line in red colour.
Hello Sir ,
How can we resolve the elastic shortening of columns or shear walls for tall buildings having height greater than 100 m ?
Sir I think that since the value of vertical spectrum is constant for a value of 0.4 (=2/3x2.5x0.24), the scale factor in the load case definition of Spz should be I/2R=0.1 (for I=1 & R=5) which is again to be multiplied by a multiplying factor equal to the maximum of either the horizontal X- direction or horizontal Y- direction. This is again to be multiplied by 5 for the cantilever beam design. Please clarify.
Hi sir,
Great tutorial. I have a doubt, why did you multiply 1.667 x Z instead of Z/2? And what about R/I?
Please refer Tutorial 2 about scaling. I/2R is included in scaling factor and Z considered in response spectrum function.
But Sir Already we have put the value of Z and soil type then why again we are putting the value of Z in (2/3*2.5)

Now this is the best teaching on Earthquake code implementation on structures. Could not find better teaching videos then this.
Thanks a lot.
