Sunday 05/07/23, Good day, not as plentiful as 2 weeks ago. But a 42 inch, 30lbs in the box.
@@mikeshuck2760 that’s a hog! Down in the South Bay? Went out same day, limits as well!
Great job fishing just wished the water quality was doable. . The OEHHA is strongly advising and posting warning signs for Women of childbearing years and children 1-17 not to eat more than 1 portion of S.F bay halibut per week. For men 18 and up the posted warnings state (2) portions per week max. A serving is the size and width of the palm of your hand. Took some livers and samples and the toxin levels were awful. the OEHHA advisories were dead on correct.
Thanks Jim. I haven’t heard anything about this yet but sounds right. Almost all fish in the bay are considered to have high toxin levels so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the same for halibut. I wonder if those tests are done on bay fish vs ocean fish.
@@DDFishingCo All the regional counties waters are tested and both sexes of Calif halibut are tested differently given their unusual life parameters. Male halibut are more worrisome given their older in age by the time they reach 22 inches. Males also start spawning as early as 3 years of age meaning more time in the bay than the females.
@@jimbo4612 very interesting thanks for sharing Jim!!
