Brilliant, got the Opcom with no instruction on how to use it. This guide was perfect, saved me lots of money getting someone to change the ECU for me and the satisfaction of doing it myself. Best youtube guide ever. Many many thanks.
Great video on this subject. and clear instructions of how to use OpCom would be nice to see how you reset the controller ECU in the boot of the Astra H Twin top 2009
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with ignorant people in this field. I wonder if I can get your opinion also... Astra H 1.9 cdti engine light appeared one day and car went very slow. I checked codes and we're related with egr valve. Took it off, cleaned it, placed it back on (didn't connect the plug for educational purpose). Engine started normally and died after 2 seconds. It never started again plugged in or off. Cranking sounded different, much weaker like if an electronic device was preventing it to work properly. Found a similar problem online which was resolved by switching off the battery for 30 min. After doing the same, engine never cranked again. Spanner light is on and fuel pump relay is clicking like crazy with fuel pump doing some noise too. If egr plug is disconnected, the relay is quiet and also the pump but nothing happens either. Tried other relays, same situation. I've got the op com now. Maybe the immobilizer is on? Thank you
LM Auto Repairs Sorry, to which op com codes do you refer? If you mean the car pass codes, I do possess them. I'll see what the op com shows and let you know ;) Thank you for your prompt repay.
My customers car. Turn ignition and on crank blower relay in under hood electrical centre clicks. No crank from starter. Wonder how the wires cross to do that. Git ista d and mercedes dealer level software now. Exciting. Good video
Mercedes dealer level scan tool. Unbelievable. It scans all fault codes and prepares fix chart. Where to test. All readings. Values. Test actuators the lot. Tests drive authorisation. EIS electronic ignition. Wiring diagrams. Just amazing. Autel you get advanced stuff but knowing what it does is critical. Im so in love with this dealer scan tool.
@@LMAutoRepairs a bit easier he says. I mentioned to it Eis fault and it had me testing the EIS and then at end said nothing wrong with that CHAP. ha ha.
Good to see how easy it is to put another already ecu in. My question is this.. do you not need to change the vin number and do the aircon, cruise etc?
you need the pass card in the owners manual thatll have the numbers you need to match the new ecu and also if you have cruise control youll need a ecu from a car that has cruise

After re allignment to the car, will the pincode of the new ecu be adjusted / relearned to the one of the car or will you always need the pincode from the donor vehicle for future resets and security access if needed

I have a question, When you put a second hand ECU in the car do you also need to put the milage of the old ECU in to the second hand ECU? At the moment I’m going to change my ECU on my Opel Astra G (ECU Delphi 12214860)
Hi, enjoyed the easy to follow clip. Thankyou. Issue: I have a Corsa VXR and need to replace the existing ECU which has been remapped and have it replaced with a non remapped donor Corsa VXR ECU. The reason being is that the car failed an MOT on emissions with the remapped ECU so, i have been advised by a few mechanics that the lambda and catalytic converter are all in working order and that the easiest way to try and resolved the emissions issue is to install a donor non remapped ECU. Question: Can the one car key be programmed to operate both the remapped and standard ECU (to allow alternating between ECU's) or does each ECU require individual key transponder programming? I guess what i am asking is can i swap ECU's as a plug and play after programming and use the one car key?
Tristan T Hi You should be able to use the existent keys... and have two programmed ECUs which you can swap over when you need... Hope that clarifies your doubts... Thank you for watching!

Do you know if the ecu internally is damaged? we take off cables at the time the engine is running the engine stops and after that the code is available the engine doesn't start.
That code refers to a code for the alternator light wire... if that makes sense... Double check connections, and that the alternator you installed is good... That however, should not prevent the car from starting... Something else is causing it... Go through everything you have disturbed while changing the alternator... Check grounds, connections, etc... 👍👍👍

It just showing the orange car pic, with spanner upright. But not flashing. And according to the vauxhall manual, it says engine electronic issues, and fuel consumption will be high. And yes its using lots of fuel at the moment
So, you're still using the security code from the original, defect ECU (ie. that came from factory with the car you're sitting in now), even when the ECU in the car has been replaced and the actual one is now from another car (which obviously had a different security code originally)? You don't have to use the security code from the new ECU, but that of the old one?
Hi The original pin of a replacement ecu is needed in order to reset the ecu... Once that is done, you need the pin from the car you want to install it on, in order to program it... You can't use a different pin to program it... Hope it makes sense...👍
@@LMAutoRepairs But if the replacement ECU is already reset, then you only need the security code of the car it will be built into, and use that in the immo module, right?
Can I then change the odometer value for my Astra H if I reset the ECU? If I try to change the odometer value it says that the value can be changed only once. It lets me to enter a new value but if I press OK the value on the odometer doesn't change. I guess the previous holder of my car had already changed the value once before I bought it. May be that is the reason why I can't change it now. What do you mean?
The message is somewhat misleading. What it actually means that you can only change it as long as it's in factory state (ie. odometer is actually 0 or at least below 50-100 kms/miles, depends on factory and model). But once the odometer has some in it, you can't change it at all, or only set it to a higher value - regardless of whether it has been change any time. Of course there are tools that will allow you to change the odometer even in this state, by circumventing the factory constraints.

steven fairley The old ecu does not need reset, the second hand ecu that you are going to install needs though. You also need the pin code from your car, and the pin code from the car you are taking the replacement ecu from... or have the tools to get hold of the pin.
I'm replacing because I cannot access engine ecu via opcom it it will not turn over when forced to turn over by power to starter direct it does not run its like the ecu has no power speedo didn't move on towing or rpm on towing in gear other models communicate cim stereo abs ect but have fault code of cannot communicate with cars engine ecu
steven fairley Have you checked wiring, connectors, fuses, earth points etc... If your problem is indeed the ecu, when you put the second hand one you will have communications... even though you will not be able to start the engine due to the immobilizer. If you still have no comms then your issue is another one...
Thank you for your video. I must replace the CIM of my Zafira b 2006 with a used CIM that is no reset. I have the car pass of the doner car of this used CIM. Could you tell me if I can reset it with op com after istalling it in my car? Before new used CIM replacement in my car I must to reset my old CIM? Could I use my old key (I'haven't the keys of the used CIM that I want to install)? The procedure is the same of the replacement of a new CIM? Thanks for your answer
I got an answer by myself. If it can be useful I share it here. I replaced the CIM control unit on my Zafira b in 2006. Precisely that when I bought the used control unit I chose one that had the same codes as mine, even if mounted on a diesel car, while mine is an ECOM. First of all, it was not necessary to reset the old control unit in advance (which I did not do even for the fear that if I could not install the one I used, I needed to reinstall my wattage to run the machine). After installing the one I used with the OpCom I reset it using the security code of the car on which it was installed (which I sent to the seller by email, so be sure to hear it first to make sure it has it). So I programmed it by entering the security code of my car following the instructions I found at this link: obd365.jigsy.com/entries/general/opcom-programming-astra-h-and-zafria-b-cim-guide. I would like to point out that in the program it is also appropriate to include the VIN of the car with the WRITE VIN function in each device (IPC, UEC, REC). It worked and the car started. The only thing that went wrong was a buzzer with a key inserted and the engine switched off and opened door. I managed to delete it by entering the CIM VARIANT CODING function and entering "Other Country" instead of "Great Britain" on the second page. Finally, I then programmed the second key, returning with the key inserted in the transponder key programming key and selecting key 2. All the lights I had previously switched on (ESP, airbag with diagnostic signal that the circuits were open) turned off (that of ESP turned off after having traveled a few hundred meters to the car). Several problems were resolved (arrows that did not fall apart, clackson that did not sound, steering wheel controls that often did not work).
Hi I've got similar problems with my car keep up coming wrong key transponder cim module and spanner light flashes what is the way around the problem driving me nut it intermittent fault

Hi and thanks for your great videos, I have a astra 1.3 cdti mk5 z13 dth, I suspect the ecu is not commuinicating with the pressure regulator valve on the high pressure pump
can this be solved by resetting the ecu or will it need a new /2nd hand one/
Thanks

Reset most likely will make no difference...
You you suspect... don't leave it at that... make the checks to ensure that the issue is not the valve, wiring or something else...😉

Hi, how did u find the pincode for this car? I have both op-com and mk908p. Thx for your video's.
Depending on the ecu, you can try carporg...
There is other ways though...
OP-com or the MK908P can't do it...

Hi mousa Ali any idea how I can blank a secondhand Ecu I’ve bought of eBay I’ve retrieved security code from my instrument cluster.but replacement Ecu has wrong code in any hides how to get it blanked or reset as can’t find any others already blanked of same part number thanks sean
You need to get the original pin from that ecu...
Either from where you bought it, or using other tools that will retrieve the code straight from it...

Hey dude, to program the immobiliser do I need to use the original ecus security code?
I reset the donar ecu but it says security code not accepted when I try to reprogram.
Which pin are you using to reset the donor ecu?
@@LMAutoRepairs The one from the donor car was used to reset it.

Ok... so if you reset the ecu already, now to program it, you need to use the pin from the car you are installing it on...

@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks a lot! that what I was a bit confused about.
Hello buddy. I have a question. My Astra H 2008 z20ler has a code P0621. The engine doesn't start. I have repaired the charger. The engine was working very well nonetheless at the time eliminate of the cables in battery the engine stops. Since this moment the p0621 is available.

I have a vauxhall h 1.6 easytronic. There are 2 dashes on the display and the car doesn't start. I also got the code 1700 when I did the pedal test. What can I do?
That sounds like a gearbox or actuators problem...
What is the background of the car?
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs it would go into A4 even if I turned it off in neutral. If that happened I had to either rev it and after about 50 meters it would go back to normal. hi there, can u help with car with spanner lights showing on dashboard in astra H 06reg please??

fola fola what are the symptoms
It just showing the orange car pic, with spanner upright. But not flashing. And according to the vauxhall manual, it says engine electronic issues, and fuel consumption will be high. And yes its using lots of fuel at the moment
So, you're still using the security code from the original, defect ECU (ie. that came from factory with the car you're sitting in now), even when the ECU in the car has been replaced and the actual one is now from another car (which obviously had a different security code originally)? You don't have to use the security code from the new ECU, but that of the old one?
Hi
The original pin of a replacement ecu is needed in order to reset the ecu...
Correct...

My ECU from the throttle body is broken... what i should do ? If a buy a new one
Of course there are tools that will allow you to change the odometer even in this state, by circumventing the factory constraints.

when it is cold all values are good and when it enters the limp mode spanner light then the Oxygen Sensor values are wrong then they are at 0.300 v otherwise when they work they are at 1.5 v and the Manifold Absolute Pressure sticks to 100 kpa when it works, it is at 30 kpa and moves when you accelerate and the barometric pressure are 247 kpa all the time warm as cold
Thanks for the video tomorrow I need to replace my astra h engine ecu if I get one from scrappy can I reprogram as you have or does the old one need to be reset in the old car first

The old ecu does not need reset, the second hand ecu that you are going to install needs though.
You also need the pin code from your car, and the pin code from the car you are taking the replacement ecu from... or have the tools to get hold of the pin.

Have you checked wiring, connectors, fuses, earth points etc...

There is no way round.... other than find what is causing the problem and rectify...
You can try immo off perhaps...🤔

Yes... usually there is a cover, roller blind, it has a few names... that needs to clip in the right position, to trigger a microswitch that tells the module it is in position... only then the roof operates...
That's to prevent the roof from being opened if there is stuff in the boot above the cover... which can damage the roof as it opens...
