Note that people don't need to go to breeders to get German Shepards; they are one of the most popular breeds in shelters and will often get euthanized even without behavioral issues simply due to lack of space.
Excellent video!. I have two Rescue GSD's. The large black male has bonded with mostly myself while the female has bonded with the entire family. The male is intimidating and quite protective while the female is much more gentle and friendly. Having said all that, the female will put the male in his place if she thinks he is getting too playful with our small dog or the kids. The GSD is definitely an all round fun family dog, active, highly intelligent and fearless. I feel I won the Doggy Lottery when I agreed to adopt two adult GSD's I had never met. Amazing breed!
I have and have had, male and female German Shepherds. My females are incredibly protective of their humans and my Boston Terriers. My males watch the yard, but at the same time, they let the females do the work (as in the girls will bark first, and the males only get involved if they think the girls can't handle it.) So much depends on the genetics, breeding and training of these dogs. All my GSDs are incredibly bonded to me, because I talk to them constantly, and my hands are always on them, petting them. Czarina never left my side in the 12 yrs I had her, and now my Ophelia follows me everywhere, while the boys take a wait and see attitude.
I second that I have 8 dogs the female is faster loves to jump in and out of the window . Always on guard and very protective. The male is larger and more beautiful but he will be after the female. The male can be a womanizer which means the female is better in guarding. Thirdly the female hunts goes after birds or pigeons anything that moves. She more active than the male.
My blk male GSD has been raised with our goats and chickens. He looks at our livestock as part of the family and he’ll protect them with his life just like he’d protect us. He’s killed many foxes, snakes, raccoons and possums trying to get our chickens. Awsome breed no matter what gender!

@@krisgrafili6780 Unsocialized dogs are often scared when meeting strange humans & dogs. This fear might even drive them to go into defensive mode and attack/bark OR they'll be so scared that they'll just avoid them completely in a panic mode. Thus showing, they are not able socialize properly.
I agree my shephard was taken to the dog park from 9 weeks old.( despite what the vets said) I also took her everywhere else. She didn't have a mean bone in her body and loved the kids she met when out. Not aggressive but let you know someone was at the door before they knocked. Once introduced she was very friendly. I'm in Florida we don't use dogs for security we have guns and stand your ground laws.
I had a female and she was socialized from the time she was a puppy. She loved people and other dogs. She showed other female German Shepards she was alpha in her house. When she went into another dog’s house she acted very polite no matter if they were three pounds.
I have 3 female shepherds! Ages 4 , 7 and 10. They are wonderful dogs! Very protective of me but gentle with my grandchildren! I love them like my family
How right you are! I've had Shepherds all my life and trained is definitely the best way to go. With lots of love either way. I saw a young family in the park today with a juvenile shepherd and were struggling to control him. Hopefully they will be able to get him to training soon!
I have had both and have found my current male, THOR, to be especially social with people. While he definitely loves to bark in his big voice when someone comes to the door, if the people come in he quickly runs to get a ball to show them and enjoys being petted. He will get along with other dogs when introduced correctly. He is definitely a 5 year old puppy, but has be called very polite. At the groomer they call him the gentle giant because he is so good with the other doges. He is a healthy 110lbs, and people do tend to walk across the street when I walk him, if they don't know him. Great with my 8 grand kids.
I had both. I like the males for guard dog purposes. Many people back down just seeing them. The males can also battle other dogs if needed a lot better than the females. The females are good as family pets. They don't bark as much as the males and are very easy to train. My females were a lot smaller and lighter than the males. The females also eat less. My big males could really eat a lot. Both will go after critters such as possums and coyotes. This is a very adaptable breed that is at home on the farm, suburbs or city. Think about your purpose for getting this dog. A real downer is that this breed sheds fur. Also look out for hip problems.
@@jonidegrazio1780I like that “6 months in the spring and 6 months in the fall” 😂😂 pretty much what I thought when I’ve read where it says they only shred twice a year
Have a 7 year old female since 10 weeks old! Courteous, loyal, quiet but attentive, highly intelligent, easily trainable, great with everything and everyone!!!!! A true blessing in every way! Loves other animals. Quite the exception! I’m blessed ❣️. She’s nit big on being hugged tight but loves to be with everyone! Not a pushover though. Can sense people a mile away yet easy with herself. @@ashanirangika936 female German shepherds are generally more protective of humans I have a female German shepherd and she won’t let someone raise a hand to me. So if you’re wanting to be protected I would recommend a female
Great video. I'm the proud owner of a 5yr. Old female named Marley. She has a alpha personality. Got her at 5 months old from a friend. But unfortunately he didn't socialize her with other people or dogs. She is great with children and after she has met someone is very friendly. Very protective and always barks letting me know someone is in my apartment building. Weight is 75lbs and exercises regularly. Too me it's the only dog breed to own. Give them lots of ❤ and they return the love ❤
I had a female GSD, perfect dog. So good, I haven't gotten another, no dog could match her. She was very much like a human mom. She had great situational awareness, protective of her family, excellent around kids, smart as a whip. Based on the male GSD's I've been around, I wouldn't own a male.
Are females good with other male dogs? I have a Standard Poodle male who gets along with everyone and would like to add a female. And why wouldn't your recommend a male? Thanks
I have had several different dog breeds over the last 50 years. I've owned 2 female shepherds in that time. They were amazing dogs. Currently, I have a male shepherd, he is the best dog I've ever owned. Get either a male or female, you won't be disappointed.
My female GSD is my constant companion she's like a Shadow. She truly is one of the smartest dogs I've owned. She is protective but not to the point of being Dangerous she will put herself in between new people and myself she looks to me for guidance to see if they are "acceptable" . My female is an exceptionally large GSD she weighs 93 pounds but is not fat she's a little bigger than an Average male. One thing people don't realize myself included GSD'S SHED ALL THE TIME! I thought my Akitas were heavy shedders they "Blow their Coats" twice a year but GSD'S shed constantly so get them used to being brushed every day
Our family had GSD's. My brother only had males, I had females. His dogs were huge, yet very gentle with family. He's a "Bro" if you know what i mean. Black Camaro, weight lifting, steroids, guns, etc. He named his dogs with masculine names. Diesel, etc. I named my female dogs with German names. Heidi was such a fantastic dog, I named the next one Heidi. So i refer to them as Heidi 1 and Heidi 2. They have passed. My female dogs were just as protective as his male dogs. And they dont piss on everything. Hip displaysia got them all. I paid big bucks with a breeder who had certified papers (and online) linages to show no past problems with hips. She developed bone spurs on her spine, then hip displaysia. You never know. I threw her favorite toy, a Frisbee at the park. She fell down and never walked again. She was in such pain, Morphine didnt help. I had to put my sweet girl down. Its been 10 years now, and I cry while writing this.😢 Im a senior now and live in apartment. I would never put a working dog in an apartment. Even though it would compete me. It would be cruel.
I have a male and female GSD. BOTH are protective of my wife and I, as well as their territory. Had no problems with both. Had them since they were a year old. They're both eight and GREAT!! Ciara seems to follow me everywhere, while Buster follows my wife. Weird but that's their thing! Love them both!
We had a male GSD that was one of only two in a litter to a large female and came with a pedigree of Austrian and Australian champions. For various reasons we collected the puppy at 13 weeks and by that time he was growing at a fast rate due to having vast quantities of his mothers milk. He grew to be a perfectly proportioned dog of 55kgs but 1" taller than the maximum that pedigree would allow. He was immensely strong who protected the house and us extremely well but he very rarely barked to announce his presence.
Must have been a long coat 2 be that heavy . This ideal weight thing seems a bit of a trap. My gsd male was the biggest in the litter & according 2 the breeders who l live next door 2 said he was just always on his mum milk & pushing the others out. Lovely natured male gsd & at 8+ months is already 37.90 kilos & approx 63/64 cm He is Super handsome & smart
@@Robert-mn8gc No, he was a standard coat GSD but was as I said bigger than pedigree would accept. He was perfectly proportioned dog and very powerful. The mother was of Australian champion line and she was as large as she could be and she was sired with another large dog, couple that with the fact that she only had a litter of two puppies, you can imagine that they had the very best start even from an embryo. When we were asked to select the puppy we wanted we were presented with two puppies at 6 weeks that were best described as large flat blobs on the floor. We chose the one that actually moved and then collected it some weeks later due to our pre-arranged holiday. At 13 weeks he was on his own with his mother who still managed to give him milk. With that start it was not surprising that he became a giant.
Now have I eight German shepherds and they all sliver and black and my first German shepherd he has past his height and weight and his sister also had past her height and weight! And they are so protective over my younger brothers and my younger sisters and my twin sons and the whole family! LOVE ASHLEY ELANE DUCKWORTH WARD!
I appreciate this general description. Our dogs are little different. They both hate other dogs, but our male German Shepard is friendly toward other people; our female is however more protective and stubborn, and dislike other people. I love them both and appreciate all their differences.
I looked it up and most owners think the personality depends on the dog rather than the gender. Males can be affectionate and females independent and aloof.
I seen the opposite on when looking up, males are more aloof. I had a make puppy gsd for a few. And he wouldn’t really lie on me or in my bed. And if he did lie in my bed he would lay by him self, he would also prefer to lay on the floor it seemed like, but my female ? Oh man snuggle right up to my neck, brought me a beer. And she was a tea cup chihuahua. So come on now 🤷♂️
Most owners are laypeople & hardly experts on dog behavior. Professionals are called "professional" for a reason. Also, generalized statements & observations are just that, general. You can find instances of any generalized statement not being entirely accurate if you look hard enough. That's not the point & defeats the purpose of a generalized statement. It's like saying human males are taller than human females then pointing to a WNBA player & saying, "but not always". What's the point you're making?
I'm pretty sure that is a Belgian Malinois at 2:46 , which most people seem to get confused with a German Shepherd. The best dog I've ever owned is a German Shepherd, which I still have. Cheyenne is 11.5 yrs old, and still very healthy, and playful. The only exercise I give her is playing fetch in the backyard. I've never taken her for walks on the cement. I've never overfed her... she gets 2 cups of dry dog food (i.e. Eagle Pack-purple bag) each day, and sometimes she only wants 1 cup. She looks forward to a dog biscuit after eating her food. And since our tap water is terrible, I've only given her bottled water her entire life. Most of the time it's distilled water. As for her personality... she aims to please, and has never bitten me in her life. Whenever I talk to my wife, Cheyenne always positions herself between me and my wife, as if to put my wife under her protection. Cheyenne also knows a great amount of words, and seems to understand whatever I say. I'm hoping she'll make it to 20 yrs. I think, there's a chance.

My last two were litter mates - a female and male WGSD. My female was very shy but my male was a HUGE goofy boy who loved everyone - especially my granddaughter, who he followed around as her personal side-kick.
The female I had (pictured in the profile pic) was so dominant she would usually urinate by lifting her leg. She was also the size of a large male. Extremely territorial over house, yard and neighborhood where she would get regular walks. But civil in neutral areas like the vet because she didn't want to be there. She only wanted to go where she could walk to and back from where she lived and she never once got lost during dog walks. Always knew her way back from her point of origin
Same I have a 2 yr old female GSD/Akita cross and incredibly smart and bigger than a lot of males and extremely dominant but gentle with smaller dogs and kids.
Ty for the info just had my girl pass the other day. My girl was an exception as she was very possessive specially with us being too close as well as she was a big build. Looking to more information to get another to keep my dad company female will definitely be my choice
I have two GS dogs and 6 puppies that are 6 weeks old. My male is 17.5" and my female is 26.5" at shoulder. The male is around 95# female is 86#. They are larger than average. Very smart. love them all.
Have a girl GS that is too gentle to protect anything. But very attached and calm. Was shocket that i NEVER have to train her to go outside. Shes just clean like a cat. 65lb mature, short hair, sheding just in spring, almost no smell.
We have an intact male we've raised from a pup. He's a big snuggly goofball that has never met a person he doesn't love. He especially loves kids. The minute he sees a little person his ears are up ,tail is wagging, and he's locked eyes begging for them to come up so he can lick their face. My youngest calls him her best friend and she cried for hours the first time we had to kennel him to go on vacation. She spent the next few days telling anyone that would listen how much she missed her dog. I do not regret getting a male at all. I couldn't ask for a better family dog.
German Shepherds are renowned for their exceptional intelligence, which makes them one of the smartest dog breeds. They have remarkable learning abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and can quickly understand and obey commands. Thanks to their intelligence, they are highly trainable and can be used for various tasks, such as police work, search and rescue operations, assistance, and as loyal family companions. Their sharp minds and keen senses make them highly versatile, enabling them to perform a wide range of activities and tasks with ease.
We have two GSD puppies , black male and black female . He is massive and a bit gangly . She is very quick . Mum is our Kelpie Cattle Cross and is teaching them lots . They go to training as well.
As a 1st gen farmer with approaching 200 acres of land, i'm curious which would be better for herding/guarding chickens, horses, sheep, pigs, and cows. I also grow a variety of market crops that get attacked by raccoons, possums, and other critters. I shoot em when i see them, but id prefer a GSD to help with this issue. Would it be better to have both as puppies and train them? Ive also got 4 small children. Ive also considered adding border collies, and great pyranese since i heard those are good night hunters. Any advice is appreciated, and thank you for this video!
I've only ever had females. We lost ours last month and plan on getting another in the future. I've had 2 male gsd/huskie mixes. Good dogs but I'm not a fan of the husky influence and their wanting to be runners. I miss my girl so much. She would have been 13 in October. So it was a good run for her but she was so bonded to me! I swear she knew I was going to stand up and move before I did it. My shadow Velcro dog
From personal experience, male german shepherd can be very dangerous dog to own, if poorly trained. Dont get me wrong, he is loyal to you to the death but, he doesnt treat other people too well, especially strangers. I would argue that, this is the number one reason why you should properly train them. They will attack strangers if they even remotly sense any danger... or they think some stranger is dangerous. In either case, its bad.
We adopted a female German Shepherd/husky mix. They didn't know her background and already had the bad hips. We had her almost a year. We got her medicine and it helped but that made her a little bit active which wasn't good. She was perfect. Sadly she got to the point it was hard getting up.
hey can you suggest which one should i get...... soon Im getting a working line gsd and i want the following things in my dog: 1- very affectionate , cuddly and loyal 2- very obedient 3- very loyal and naturally protective (good for guarding purposes) 4- easy to train 5- very clingy 6- good for jogs and cycling trips 7- bigger in size..... please suggest which gender i should go for!
I would suggest female. Although you wont get the size you get more affection and eagerness to please you. So they won't leave your side and easy to train.
My female I said goodbye to at 14yo this past February was 25” tall and a solid 90-100lbs most her life till the last 6 months I started getting the weight off her so she’d have a easier time to get around tho she was never over or under weight except at the first when I first adopted her at 4yo

I agree completely. I have 4 GSD, 1 Male is a DDR dog, and 1 female is from Czech. My wife is from Czech. They are protection dogs, and only understand Czech language.
LOL! My female had zero tolerance policy for anything she considered threatening behavior. She was a total alpha. She was friendly & protective of the family but was mine-period! She did NOT like to play. Not fetch, not running around or anything else! She loved cuddling and a good brawl LOL! This was in the era before all the leash laws & I have to admit she got in a LOT of scraps. But she also attacked a home invader and chased-fought with him all through several backyards. Also she almost killed a dog thrratening my friend & I!
I have a GS mix. She's also American Eskimo dog and Collie (SOOOO hairy!!). But I'd say her personality is just as the female GS is described here. She's loving, very sweet, likes all people but also protective. I wish I has known this when I brought home my other dog. It's difficult with mixed breeds sometimes. She got protective over me and didn't want him intruding on her territory. It's taking time but things are better now. Btw - I found out that she was a GS mix from a doggie DNA test. She looks like a hairy, blond golden retriever but there's no golden in her. She moves like a GS though
My 2 month year old German shepard is very gelous of me petting other pets she tends to attack the other pets if i pet them and dont pet her, but she cant fight back just running in fear of other smaller dogs like a pikinezer, but i love her!
I have a male right now, and he’s great! But I personally prefer a female, they have a more calmer nature, while males are so goofy and clumsy sometimes 😁😆👍
honestly my female gsd was a lot like this- except she isnt ‘feminine’ per say- many people assume she is a male first time they see her- she has a deep bark, growl, and howl, she is taller and a bit more broad then most females- but yeah other than that yeah- really- my grandfather used to have a silver and black female named Danielle who weighed 120 pounds but could easily jump over a 6ft fence, this was back in like the 80s tho so
also with my female- she is kinda a bit of both for the bonding with people- she bonds with a lot of people, mainly my grandparents and i but she is great with others if they are welcomed there. but she definitely has her favorite which is my grandfather, proud to say im the second favorite lol
my dog is like 72 pounds. thats pretty good for a female german shepherd on the slightly larger side. Danielle was my grandfathers german shepherd, the one that weighed 120 pounds. She gave birth to a litter of 13 pups, 12 of which survived. Yeah she would weigh a lot cause of that. But she could scale fences easily.
Love this video! When we buy a house, my boyfriend really wants a female Leonberger and then like 1-2 years after we’ll get my dream dog, a male GSD 😍 loved the info i got from this video! Do you think a Leonberger and a GSD would get along well?
My Dog 🐕 A male gsd . Just over 8+ months . Height approx 63/64 cm & his Weight 37.90 kilos weighed last week @ 8 months & 2 days old . He is active on my terms so his hip & joints scores remain as exceptional as his parents. 99 dad 98 mum . He was the biggest puppy in the litter by a long way . Hope he tops out at 66 cm & 45k weight . He may be heavier than that by the time he's finished growing. He was bigger & heavier than his Dad at 8 weeks old . Beautifull natured Dog 🐕. Called him " Shadow "
My German Shepherd's a female, and just her strong bark scares people, even though I taught her as a puppy not to bite... but they don't know that. All strangers will get an earful if they come near the house. She's cheap, dependable insurance.
I’ve had both and I found my male to be more protective more loving more fun and playful and and my female more vocal much bigger appetite definitely more into food a little bit less protective and more of a snuggly cuddly type Can’t go wrong with either best breed ever
I had a brother sister team. The exact opposite. is true. Female shepherds are people most likely one person protective ; male GSDs are property possessive. Females are more likely to attack; males wait until muscle is needed for the situation
Nobody told our female this she is totally a mommys dog and is way protective of her, and her food and toys from the cats she will not let anyone pet her or come near us or your getting that German Shepard bark and some teeth guaranteed to make you need to change your pants.
I have a male and female GSD, other than the size and the early maturing affecting responsiveness to training in the female, I find with my dogs, everything else mentioned in this video are complete opposite lol I’m not saying this is the norm, I just find it funny
Had many GSD's over the years. Had males and females together with one female in particular that had a ferocious appetite who one day decided to try and help herself to the big males food while he was eating it. This male we had was 28 inches to the shoulder and weighed 126lb of solid muscular build and gave little miss greedy the shock of her life when she tried to stick her nose into his feeding bowl. Least to say she never tried it again LOL
We have a male and a female, and this is totally opposite. Male is laid back, affectionate, and goofy. Female bonds with only with her handler and family, much more intense than the male, and always on guard. She is the guardian and dominant one of the house. Female quicker to train with specific tasks.

@@krisgrafili6780 My reply is 2 years late, but you nailed it on the head. She's insecure and nervous around other dogs.
Wow that’s a new idea to do a comparison between female and male. Good idea actually
Thank you!
Thanks for watching
I have had both and have found my current male, THOR, to be especially social with people. While he definitely loves to bark in his big voice when someone comes to the door, if the people come in he quickly runs to get a ball to show them and enjoys being petted. He will get along with other dogs when introduced correctly. He is definitely a 5 year old puppy, but has be called very polite. At the groomer they call him the gentle giant because he is so good with the other doges. He is a healthy 110lbs, and people do tend to walk across the street when I walk him, if they don't know him. Great with my 8 grand kids.
The only noticeable difference between my male and my female is that my male was more protective of me, while my female is more possessive of me.
Exactly. She’s jealous. She’s dependent. He’s more bonded to you alone right?
Good info thank you!
I call our female, Sadie, a German Shedder!
GDS only shed twice of year. 6 months in the spring and 6months ib the fall. I have to vacuum every day. I wouldn't trade my shepherd for anything.
They have the nickname of "German Shedders" for a reason 😂.
Has never shown her teeth or growled but she knows I’m also watching out for her too!
Great job! Happy dogs that have a leader are the best dogs
This is very accurate! I have a female and a male. They get along GREAT! My female is very fast but my male is big and goofy 🙂
Apocalipto
Lol the dimensions of it..
According to your experience do you recommend female or male shepherd is suitable to present preganant mommy
@@ashanirangika936 female German shepherds are generally more protective of humans I have a female German shepherd and she won’t let someone raise a hand to me. So if you’re wanting to be protected I would recommend a female
I have/had both male and female. My male was a big baby and my female would rip your head off if she felt threatened.
Thank you!
Wonderful video! German shepherd is the best dog in the world! I have a male of this breed and I'm very happy about he 👍👍😍
Thank you sir!
Have had both and they were just perfect in every way My boy loved his cuddles as much the girl and both protective over my kids and home .
I have had 6 Shepherds in my life. Although the male was great, my females were by far my favorite. It's been years, and I still miss them.
Love the video. I had back to back females. Both were completely bonded to me. Very protective,
Good stuff
Absolutely correct! I have both male and female GSD, and we love them both.❤
I had a female GSD, perfect dog. So good, I haven't gotten another, no dog could match her. She was very much like a human mom. She had great situational awareness, protective of her family, excellent around kids, smart as a whip. Based on the male GSD's I've been around, I wouldn't own a male.
Awesome! Yeah I’d get a female GSD as well
Are females good with other male dogs? I have a Standard Poodle male who gets along with everyone and would like to add a female. And why wouldn't your recommend a male? Thanks
I have had several different dog breeds over the last 50 years. I've owned 2 female shepherds in that time. They were amazing dogs. Currently, I have a male shepherd, he is the best dog I've ever owned. Get either a male or female, you won't be disappointed.
Picking up my GSD female pup this weekend can’t wait
Yes, there are always exceptions. My female is ginormous, weighing in at 115 lbs. & 25 inches tall. Yet, she's extremely tender hearted & shy.
I thought my Akitas were heavy shedders they "Blow their Coats" twice a year but GSD'S shed constantly so get them used to being brushed every day
Awesome dog breed!
Awesome breed
I prefer female dogs. I have had both. Female dogs are just smarter and easier for a woman to handle. Thank you!
Lovely natured male gsd & at 8+ months is already 37.90 kilos & approx 63/64 cm
He is Super handsome & smart
Thank you for the comment!
So come on now 🤷♂️
my female is more dominant and protective than my male and she's also more affectionate
That would be amazing if she made it 29 years. You’re doing everything right. Hope she does!
I’m getting a female German shepherd for my male shepsky on monday

the rest of my fam are busy working away and abroad so it’s just me and him At home and his toys and 2 acre garden seriously thinking on getting another but I think s another boy could be problematic although he’s a sweetheart he’s a little Capricorn so stubborn and having another boy might piss him off .. he’s 6 and still struts about like a lil boy ... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mine's 8 and he still has that strut, too. I so love it. He's so naturally athletic and regal. He never looks sloppy, always poised in these beautiful positions.. Just so lovely and sweet. I had one of each - male and female. We were the happy trio!
That’s great!
My last two were litter mates - a female and male WGSD. My female was very shy but my male was a HUGE goofy boy who loved everyone - especially my granddaughter, who he followed around as her personal side-kick.
My boy is the exact same a giant goofball he always just wants to play. He has a ball with him basically at all times he adores basketballs lol
The best dog I ever owned was a female GS. Absolutely love love the breed.
Super smart dogs!
I've had 3 German Shepherds 2 females and one male I would say not much of difference such a great breed I love them
my males and females have a massive difference my males are stupid and my females are protective, dominant and affectionate
Awesome! Two GSD puppies is great!
Great video! Thank you for sharing - these dogs are so awesome
Thank you!
I have a male and female and so far you are right. My male is dominant and possessive
Yes very good point
Hi really excellent information
Glad it was helpful!
@@DogsNowChannel I'm looking GSD which is good for family and kid's Male or Female

We adopted a female German Shepherd/husky mix. They didn't know her background and already had the bad hips. We had her almost a year. We got her medicine and it helped but that made her a little bit active which wasn't good. She was perfect. Sadly she got to the point it was hard getting up.
hey can you suggest which one should i get...... soon Im getting a working line gsd and i want the following things in my dog:
1- very affectionate , cuddly and loyal
2- very obedient
3- very loyal and naturally protective (good for guarding purposes)
4- easy to train
5- very clingy
6- good for jogs and cycling trips
7- bigger in size.....
please suggest which gender i should go for!
I would suggest female. Although you wont get the size you get more affection and eagerness to please you. So they won't leave your side and easy to train.

Yes sir!
Not at all true! I have the best boy and he is my cuddle bunny. These people have know idea about German Shepherds. It matters more how you raise the pup, hand feeding the first few weeks and helps to increase your bond.
@@YukiMuriyama Yes, that makes sense. And i will definitely do the hand feeding. Thank you for the advice. And may i ask just how bad the shedding is? @@Derek-qs9dz I joke he is the rare breed German Shedder 😆 I do a light vacuum daily every few days or so. What really helps is brushing daily, I highly recommend a rake and hand gloves it REALLLY helps reduce the fur around the house.

Great video 👍🏽
can you do a video about NOT breeding "roach back" shepherds
Currently own a 9 year old female German shepherd mix. This is my first dog but I’ve always wanted a GSD. I’m hoping to get another one day but not in any hurry 😉. Our female is protective of her toys and food when around other dogs. Oh she gets very jealous when my wife and I hug one another…lol
Excellent vide thank you
Wow, my female German shepherd isn't at all like you described!
I agree completely. I have 4 GSD, 1 Male is a DDR dog, and 1 female is from Czech. My wife is from Czech. They are protection dogs, and only understand Czech language.
thats crazy
Can my 1 year old gsd still be trained
I have both and you’re right on point. Good vid!
Thank you max! GSDs are the best!
My 2 month year old German shepard is very gelous of me petting other pets she tends to attack the other pets if i pet them and dont pet her, but she cant fight back just running in fear of other smaller dogs like a pikinezer, but i love her!
I have a male right now, and he’s great! But I personally prefer a female, they have a more calmer nature, while males are so goofy and clumsy sometimes 😁😆👍
my male runs into doors and walls when he's distracted
My uncle had a male German shepherd. It was gentle around children an even kittens.
honestly my female gsd was a lot like this- except she isnt ‘feminine’ per say- many people assume she is a male first time they see her- she has a deep bark, growl, and howl, she is taller and a bit more broad then most females- but yeah other than that yeah- really- my grandfather used to have a silver and black female named Danielle who weighed 120 pounds but could easily jump over a 6ft fence, this was back in like the 80s tho so
also with my female- she is kinda a bit of both for the bonding with people- she bonds with a lot of people, mainly my grandparents and i but she is great with others if they are welcomed there. but she definitely has her favorite which is my grandfather, proud to say im the second favorite lol
your dog was hella overweight
my dog is like 72 pounds. thats pretty good for a female german shepherd on the slightly larger side. Danielle was my grandfathers german shepherd, the one that weighed 120 pounds. She gave birth to a litter of 13 pups, 12 of which survived. Yeah she would weigh a lot cause of that. But she could scale fences easily.
Danielle was also bigger than Tova height wise too.
will spaying alter the female traits?
Absolutely love my GSD girl!
So you saying, gsd male will take care of cubs more than a female gsd? I'm just curious 😖
Love this video! When we buy a house, my boyfriend really wants a female Leonberger and then like 1-2 years after we’ll get my dream dog, a male GSD 😍 loved the info i got from this video! Do you think a Leonberger and a GSD would get along well?
Yes if you teach the leonberger to be calm. Train calmly, live calmly then when the GSD comes in the leonberger will be calm and ready no problem

Who I should choose to protect and guard my house a male or a female who is better ?
Male

Would love a long haired GSD. IS the shedding too much tho?
@@DogsNowChannel They shed, but not too bad. Then again, I also have 2 Keeshonds and they are master shedders!
When I was watching this video, I’m like “oh shoot I have a female German shepherd, and my family wants a *protective* dog”
My German Shepherd's a female, and just her strong bark scares people, even though I taught her as a puppy not to bite... but they don't know that. All strangers will get an earful if they come near the house. She's cheap, dependable insurance.
I’ve had both and I found my male to be more protective more loving more fun and playful and and my female more vocal much bigger appetite definitely more into food a little bit less protective and more of a snuggly cuddly type
Can’t go wrong with either best breed ever
great breed!
I had a brother sister team. The exact opposite. is true. Female shepherds are people most likely one person protective ; male GSDs are property possessive. Females are more likely to attack; males wait until muscle is needed for the situation
German shepherds are great dogs period. Just enjoy them instead of comparing them.
Nobody told our female this she is totally a mommys dog and is way protective of her, and her food and toys from the cats she will not let anyone pet her or come near us or your getting that German Shepard bark and some teeth guaranteed to make you need to change your pants.
I have a male and female GSD, other than the size and the early maturing affecting responsiveness to training in the female, I find with my dogs, everything else mentioned in this video are complete opposite lol
I’m not saying this is the norm, I just find it funny
Had many GSD's over the years. Had males and females together with one female in particular that had a ferocious appetite who one day decided to try and help herself to the big males food while he was eating it. This male we had was 28 inches to the shoulder and weighed 126lb of solid muscular build and gave little miss greedy the shock of her life when she tried to stick her nose into his feeding bowl. Least to say she never tried it again LOL
Haha dang!
Our fe.ale protect us from all. Even our other pets.
We have a male and a female, and this is totally opposite. Male is laid back, affectionate, and goofy. Female bonds with only with her handler and family, much more intense than the male, and always on guard. She is the guardian and dominant one of the house. Female quicker to train with specific tasks.
We have male gsd only 5 months he so huge n he’ll grow more he so fluffy too ❤
Awesome!
My female GSD would not tolerate outsiders, to the extent she had to be locked in another room any time we had visitors.
