Bonnie!! You had me cracking up the entire video! I love this happy energy from you! Merry Christmas to you and your family. Been a viewer since day 1. 😊
I made a Shepard’s pie the other day and the entire time I was watching your old vids and thinking about you and you’re beautiful family!! What are the chances you posting this a couple of days after!?! Love from the uk ❤
I have never used butter in mine. I use a square of dark chocolate 🍫 though. I slightly grill the top of the mash gives it a skin the best bit for me! You might like to try x I will try the butter next time I make it x
A pat of butter according to Google is a small portion of butter usually shaped like a square or rectangle and is typically 1/3 to 1/2 tablespoon in size” 😀 Bonnie for the win on this one!
I have a strainer that has a bowl with it that has space under the drainer to drain grease also in the bowl you can move the meat in the pan. Hold the pan handle and put pan on a slant then have a paper towel to grab all the grease at the bottom of the pan then you can just put the paper towel of course in the garbage and no extra bottles etc. for grease. ❄️ I like the idea of sharp white shedder in mashed potatoes. Sounds so good ❄️ What a beautiful dining room table set up! ❄️ Bonnie, I love when you always did mood lighting in your old house and “put the house to bed” and just the fact that you do mood lighting every night for your home to make it so cozy! ❄️Sounds like a fun night with friends.
Merry Christmas Bonnie and Joel and your family and tell your Mom and Dad I said Merry Christmas to them too and would love to see them again you tubing I always love watching there videos
Hi Bonnie! Here’s how I stopped the crying from cutting up onions- after removing the onion skin, do not cut off the ends of the onion. Instead I cut the whole onion in half leaving the ends on, viola no tearing!! Doing it this way allows me to just use whatever amount I need at the time, if you only need half an onion, you have half to use and I wrap the other half in aluminum foil to avoid any onion odor in fridge. This works every time! Merry Christmas!
Looks great. We sprinkle grated cheese on top of potato when we cook it. Not sure why you put butter in the mixture though (must be an American thing). And yes cottage pie.
Put the onions in the fridge for a least a few days before you use them. Haven’t cried or had issues with onions since we started putting them in the refrigerator!!
My wife and I had never been to a movie on Christmas Day, before this year. Christmas morning 2024 we went and saw the movie "Wicked". It was very good. Our theatre was fairly empty about 12 of us total - 3 different groups of people. When we were leaving the Theatre - hordes of people were going in. I've never thought of Christmas Day as being a big day for Movie Theatres. None of of our children or grandchildren were coming to our house, so it was just us.
I often don’t care for videos that the husband is in. Not so with Joel, he makes the videos so cute. FYI, if you get too much oil or other dressing, spread it out on paper towels and cover it with more paper towels to pat the top with. You will be amazed at how much oil the towels will absorb.
I'm so going to try that shepherds pie, coming from the uk, i use onion, peas, carrots, baked beans and stock cube, and gravy... simple lol... Bonnie your laugh is contagious , never stop hope you all have a great new year guys xxxx From The Griffiths family U.K. xx
If you rinse the onion under water once it is cut. You have to get the gas to release first then rinse under water. Take wet, dripping wet onion to the cutting board and commence cutting further. If you get hit with gas again, goback to the sink.
Shepherds pie is a comfort food (for me) also if you don't want the the mixture of the Shepherds pie to be too runny, mix water and corn startch and mix that in when the veg and meat is still on the stove (learnt that from food tech teacher 3rd year)
Bonnie I still drain in a colander with a bowl under it and then throw it in the trash (the grease not the bowl in case someone wants to be a smart Alec lol) once it congeals.
Looks great! I don’t think I would drain the cooked beef and veg…feel like there would be a lot of flavor lost. I don’t mind a saucy shepherds/cottage pie.
You two are such clean cooks. I’ve heard someone call Worcestershire sauce “the Dub Sauce.” Our son went to University of Washington, which is called UW, or U Dub. It’s easier to say. Can’t wait for you bread recipe.
Love Bonnie's vlogs , I cook Sheppards pie alot and this recipe is not correct, to be sheppards Pie it needs to be cooked with lamb mince if you use beef its called Cottage pie and neither has tomato pure. aside from this the food looks delicious
Bonnie, you make me smile! Don’t ever stop being you! The house, the meal, and you two are phenomenal!
This made me smile. ♥️

If has beef and veggies we call it cottage pie if it has lamb we call it shepherds pie
Cut the butter by 1/2❤in the cottage pie. Plant butter in mashed potatoes is really yummy.
That looks so beautiful and delicious Bonnie 😍 and love to see Allie in your video, I love her videos too 😊❤
I want to try this. Please more cooking shows
To “drain” the grease…I take a big spoon wrapped in paper towel and stir around the pan. Repeat if needed ;)
That’s exactly what I do and I learned it from watching someone on TikTok

I do exactly what you do Bonnie! Pray I hit the jar/can❤
Marry Christmas
You would love Pomme Aligot! It’s the most decadent cheesy mashed potatoes! It’s an intense labor of love!
Goodmorning Hollien family Happy Thursday. Wow thank you for sharing this amazing recipe. I am always looking forward to get yummy yum recipes..❤❤❤

I grew up mashed potatoes are just boil the potatoes drain them and just mash them. What Bonnie did we called creamed potatoes. Keep Smiling 😃
You should try making cottage (shepherds) pie with Guinness!
I make a “cup” out of foil to pour the grease in and then I put it in the trash once it cools.🤗 Also, my eyes don’t water when I have my contacts in!
I would love how you make Shepards pie. Better than the old world style. I've eaten Sheppard's pie so many different ways. Yous looks Great!
I use tongs and a paper towel or i get a bowl and put a strainer over the bowl and then drain.
Shepherds pie is a comfort food (for me) also if you don't want the the mixture of the Shepherds pie to be too runny, mix water and corn startch and mix that in when the veg and meat is still on the stove (learnt that from food tech teacher 3rd year)
Your beautiful house stunning 💖🖐🙏
Thank you so much! 😄
Bonnieeeeee paint an egg wash on top of those potatoes before you pop it back in and THANK ME LATER QUEEN. Game. CHANGER.
We just just call it Worcester sauce I'm from UK
Bonnie I still drain in a colander with a bowl under it and then throw it in the trash (the grease not the bowl in case someone wants to be a smart Alec lol) once it congeals.
If you chew gum when choping onions it helps alot.😊
I always pour my greese right into the grass.
Shepherd's pie is made with minced lamb and not beef. I think you are confusing recipes with cottage pie.
People constantly make this mistake.
I'm a Brit and I was the same. It's a cottage pie not shepherds pie.
She said in the very beginning of the video she knew it was actually cottage pie :)
A beautiful dinner!
@@thereavesfamily6008 right?
If i have my contacts in while cutting onions, i dont cry, but if my glasses are on, i can't see what im cutting. im crying so much.
We use a potato ricer
Looks great! I don’t think I would drain the cooked beef and veg…feel like there would be a lot of flavor lost. I don’t mind a saucy shepherds/cottage pie.
If you melt the butter and heat the milk
May I ask if you wear a diaper? And why would you do that please. Thank you
This is a Cottage pie!
You’re draining correctly. It’s so hard but there is really no easy way.
You need cheese on the shepherd's pie!
2:22 raw onion is not good for dogs. 😢
Shepherds pie is made with minced lamb and cottage pie is made with minced beef.
Drew Cooks---wash your sister sauce
You made Cottage Pie, not Shepherds Pie. Shepherds pie is made with ground lamb, not beef.
You two are such clean cooks. I’ve heard someone call Worcestershire sauce “the Dub Sauce.” Our son went to University of Washington, which is called UW, or U Dub. It’s easier to say. Can’t wait for you bread recipe.

Worcestershire sauce: You say it like you're saying rooster, then sure. So think rooster sure. I'm from Ireland. 😊
