This album was recorded during the height of their psychedelic period. Imagine being a kid listening to all these songs in 1967. It’s still a bit startling today if you’re not expecting the experimentation. The Beatles forever changed modern music conventions and pop culture. Every band since has been influenced by them directly or indirectly.
The whole Beatles lore and discography is incredible. They were literal kids who went on to change the trajectory of music forever, all completely organically and before the age of 30. George Harrison was 20 years old when the Beatles landed in America for the first time and played Ed Sullivan. They broke up like 5-6 years later.
I did not expect to wake up this morning and crush the whole magical mystery tour lmao. I feel like I could go flip over a car with my bare hands right now
The Beatles were more than the best band. The Beatles are (to this very day) the biggest selling music artist of all time, and nobody else even comes close. Bigger than Michael Jackson, bigger than Elvis Presley, bigger than Rhianna, bigger than Madonna, bigger than Drake, bigger than Dr. Dre, bigger than any other music artist that ever breathed air and walked the face of this earth! Nobody else even comes close to their record sales. Do a quick google search and you'll see what I'm talking about. Great reaction! Peace
The Beatles first albums were in 1963. They played on a popular American TV show in 1964, back when tv was only three channels. They became huge. As they grew more successful they were introduced to influential people and influential drugs. This, coupled with with rapid advancements in recording technology, they became more experimental. They had two main writers in the band. One of them became super obsessed with exploring different kinds and music and the other one became obsessed with finding new ways of self expression and self evaluation. As a band they decided to stop playing live shows and focus on increasingly complexes recordings. They made three extremely forward thinking records. Magical Mystery Tour is the last of these. Then they took a more back to basics approach for their last three albums. Their last album came out in 1970. The band influenced every popular form of music over the course of their 13 albums and dozens of singles. Then broke up before anyone in the band was 30.
Interesting first album to check out by them. This would be like if your first Floyd album was Animals, your first Zeppelin album is III or your first Kanye Album is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
You kinda dropped yourself into the middle of them being weird and psychedelic. There is a whole progression that leads there so smoothly that it doesn't even sound weird when you get there. If you go in order and remember how long ago this was, you realize everything you're hearing is groundbreaking. Knickers - Like the New York Knickerbockers. New York Knicks. But in this context, it's underpants in British slang. Nobody played Strawberry Fields while you were tripping. It's just a song that shows up sometimes when you trip. Maybe you hear it and no one else does. Maybe everyone hears it.
I probably would have started with Meet the Beatles to watch their style transform over an incredibly short time. Also, keep in mind, many bands in the 60s had huge hit songs that are NOT on their albums and The Beatles were one of those bands. However, they do have double "albums" that are singles compilations which include these non-album songs ("The Beatles: 62 - 66" and "The Beatles: 67 - 70"). Their first couple or three albums are examples of them paying homage to their roots and their first stabs at songwriting, but then you get into Help! And Revolver and you can see them starting to grow as songwriters with less interference from the record labels coming in around Sgt. Peppers and this album, which is really the "soundtrack" to one of the films they made. "Help!" and "A Hard Day's Night" also had accompanying films.
You very right its best to start from " Meet the Beatles" ..so they can hear the early Electrical fire!! There is no band like them ..Rogers Waters said after listening to the Sgt. Pepper album on radio! In a taxi.. that " it was so complete that its paved the way for Pink Floyd to do everything"!... before Pink Floyd used animal sounds on their song, the Beatles had already used them in " Good Morning" they used 🐓🐴🐎🐘🦬🐈🐑 etc., ... even in the song " Sun King" ( Abby Road ) it starts off with cricket sounds ... Beatles did it all. I'm an original Beatlemania fan from 64" .. I was 9 going on 10, in 65 ' I was even more mad crazy for these four begs 🪲🪲🪲🪲🍏❤❤ at 12 I had my Sgt. Pepper ... forever love them Beatles ... beatles are love, really 💚💜🧡⚡️
No, no! avoid the American albums, except this one. MMT is the only one Capitol got right. (Eventually, originally they were in FAKE stereo, would you believe?🙄) All the others are a mish mash of previously released albums, poor quality, some were remixed and reverb added, other albums such as the American version of Rubber Soul had tracks missing, The Beatles hated them. Stick with the UK releases, they are the real McCoy.
He says "knickers"...not what you think lol..knickers is British slang for underwear I believe By the way an interesting choice of an album for your introduction to The Beatles..Cant wait for you to dive into their greatest albums like Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Peppers. the White Album and especialley Abbey Road!
Love the Recorder. When I was a Teacher I had a after school Recorder club. Awesome instrument, I have two wood sopranos and one plastic Alto. I could sit and improvise all kinds of tunes. A great instrument, portable and not too hard to learn.
This is a good album with several hits, including Strawberry Field, Penny Lane, Fool on the Hill, All You Need is Love, and Hello Goodbye. The Beatles were in their LSD psychedelic phase.
The Beatles where known for pushing the envelope and thinking outside the box, both lyrically and especially with instrumentation. Pink Floyd and The Beatles recorded in the same studio and interacted with each other. You can hear the influence they had on each other.
"Blue Jay Way" was written by George Harrison in a rental house in Los Angeles. He actually waited, and waited, and waited for friends to show up but they got lost trying to find the place George had rented.
Loved the vibes man glad you enjoyed it. love is all you need❤ if you’re gonna do more I’d start with Rubber Soul and then go in chronological order from there
Kezzy, recent (older guy) subscriber who has started loving your vids so bare with the following lengthy comment; hopefully will help you and other subscribers with the experience. One of the big things I notice in almost all reaction youtubes is the lack of presenting any kind of history or context to the band or album before launching it. I get it! Some would claim they just want a straight "no knowledge" to the presentation. However, here is what I would like to present to others of your generation, or younger. Context is everything.... so hope this helps. The 60's and early70's was a chaotic dynamic time but the bands were a "soundboard" to those times. Early music heroes such as Buddy Holly who died in 1959, or Elvis were fading. 1963, 64 and the following years often is referred to as British Invasion, as many many bands from England began filling the radio stations for the remainder of the decade. Top 100 radio was often channeled through youth via new tech (transistor radios) people carried around against their ear. AM freqency radio stations dominated in the 60s and then by late 60s newer FM frequency radio stations were live and brought a more challenging off-cut songs format that helped grab the like of more listeners. (Remember, still no internet for another 30 years!). JFK President was assassinated at end of 1963. His brother running for office was assassinated in mid later 60's , as well as social rights leader Martin Luther King. Malcolm x also killed in 1965. You had a major shift in ideologies as Social Rights laws were adopted for Blacks, minorities, etc. Also, there was no internet so only 3 major networks (tv stations) and usually 2 minor stations were all that was on T.V. Vietnam war was broadcast nightly on 6pm news as families sat down to their dinners (horrors seen nightly - for years), followed by stories of the rioters opposed to the war. The Beatles were at the forefront of this changing culture, both writing songs to reflect it, as well as, helping to illicit change in thought via the younger generations. The building of shopping malls for the first time were happening at this time that also promoted social congregation of peoples to central areas for many celebrations. Almost every mall had a large music store open to the mall, and newer released albums were played loud and could be heard many stores down. Some even brought in live bands that performed in store or in the mall just outside the music store. The Beatles, and other groups, helped shape the hippie era, and the psychedelic era that followed in the very late 60s. Everyone eagerly awaited each vinyl album drop a couple times a year as each album brought forth a brand new production sound (something you don't see the last 10 years today - as most music currently has no soul and easily forgotten a month later... sorry gen z, that is the truth why these reaction channels are popular). Anyway, each Beatles member had their own identity, talent, and personae and millions of fans usually bonded with ALL as the Beatles, or one member they favored. They also helped to lead an awareness of social consciousness, i.e. look up John and Yoko's "Bed In" or watch it on vid here. The Beatles, and members, did all kinds of stuff like this for both promotion and again social awareness to different subject matters... Such as the death imagery seen across several of their albums (I am the Walrus, Turn me on Dead Man, messages heard on reverse tracking, Barefoot Paul on Abbey Road, etc). They also were a challenge to 100's of other bands via music competition. Another reason why music was so so much better back then. The bands heard latest releases and would work harder to be better in the studios. There was an unspoken sense that Beatles and Rolling Stones were having a rivalry for one-up-manship during the mid to late 60s. What is truly amazing is the Stones remaining as a band to this day (50 plus years!); and Paul and Ringo still active today. When you went over to friends houses in those days, you would ALWAYS find Beatles vinyl either playing , or big brother big sister having the albums out or posters pinned up. Like young girls with Swift or Beyonce stuff today.... but magnified x10! If you ever spot any lists regarding 60's or 70's nostalgia.... the Beatles will always be in the top 5 of that list. I definitely enjoy your channel and watching your reactions. Your full album review is a big plus over your competition and if I can make 1 request for even a better experience for the other younger generations, it would be at a minimum to state the year of release of the album, and maybe just google "what was happening in the year 19##" in order to give a small list of major current events going on at the time of bands released albums to add that experience for the younger gen during each of your vid presentations. thanks again for your work. Us oldies glad to see it.
i appreciate this bro !! and it will definitely help i was waiting on a comment like this i like when yall bring the info to me BC i get more of a wow factor but i can start coming with some facts for the video myself Aswell
Postscript: the WORLD was shocked (before the time of random shooters) when crazed gunman/stalker shot and killed John Lennon outside his NY residence back in 1980. After many years of resentment/bitterness reported between Paul and John, John had released a decent Album (Double Fantasy) just a month before his death and there was a sense that he would be more proactive with music productions. The world, up till then, was always hoping someday the Beatles would mend their differences and produce things.
I Am The Walrus was a direct response to the press (or something like that), who were claiming that their lyrics didn't make any sense. And thus John Lennon wrote I Am The Walrus, which is just lyrical nonsense, but it's still probably my favourite song on the album.
I heard it was because colleges were over analyzing their songs so he wrote this in response Idk why people were say most of their stuff prior from revolver made no sense. It was pretty straight forward till around the mid 60’s
Magical mystery tour was a concept movie. The Beatles wanted to release an album to support the movie. Some of the songs like Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane were already recorded as singles. They had to rush the album so they added those two songs to the album. Flying was recorded for a scene in the movie so they added it also. Blue Jay Way was written about an actual event that happened in LA when guests were late arriving for a party due to fog and the house was on Blue Jay Way. It’s one chord, C.
Nice to see you liking music that has arrangements. You didn't do the whole album, you skipped "Hello Goodbye" Recommend Stg. Pepper's Loney Heart Club Band. The American version you just played was released in 1967, as with the Rolling Stone's "Their Satanic Majesties Request", "Zodiac Cosmic Sounds" Donovan's "Gift from a Flower to a Garden", Love's "Forever Changes" Country Joe & the Fish's "Feel Like I'm Fixin to Die" & many many others, LSD was having a profound effect on music & album cover art.
Though John later did do a song called "Woman is the N***er of the World"

The Beatles were founded in 1958 as teenagers, deveoped in their late teens / early 20s in German pubs, went back to Liverpool (where they are from) and signed a record deal (1963) then came to the US after the death of President Kennedy in 1964 were on CBS TV Ed Sullivan Show to the largest TV audience in history, and the birth of Beatlemania began. Their music from 1963 to 1970 was varied, ranging from straight earlly innocent rock and roll to experimental and complex before they broke up. Their career is varied, innovative, crosses many styles and they pushed the sound barriors of stadium performances (they quit public performing to huge audiences because no one could hear them) and helped invent music videos, reality tv, and when they did perform live, they refused to perform to segregated audiences anywhere, so they forced changes in the southern states, Philappines, Africa and many places in Europe.
I've posted the same, on multiple forums. The White Album is their most creative. By far. And maybe their best. But my personal favorite will always be Abbey Road.
Yes, The Beatles stretched into the 2000s, and will be stretching into the 20,000s too. If you're going to do more Beatles, you should do them chronologically (including singles in the mix, often not on albums), and you'll get the real story as it unfolded. Mind blowing the changes they went through and genres they covered (and created).
It was around this time that rumours were flying about that Paul had died. At the very end or Strawberry Fields you may hear "I bury you,Paul". The Walrus is a symbol of death in some cultures. In another song,John feeds into the rumours with the line "I have another clue for you all. The Walrus was Paul"
Kezzy, that was fun, thank you! I'm glad you were rolling with the changes on that pure Psychedelic music fest! I love MMT! That said, this album is considered a step or two down from The Beatles best-of-the-best albums, if you can believe it! Yes, they are that good! You should listen to The White Album (1968), Revolver (1966), A Hard Day's Night (1964), and Abbey Road (1969), as a cross-section of their top-tier albums. Of course, the Beatles are truly the GOAT! All of their music is world-famous and considered the best of all time! I love it all because I grew up with their music! So it doesn't matter which album you check out, it's going to be quality and brilliance!
The full version of Flying is 11 minutes long. The synthy sounds cape keeps going 8nstead of fading out. They also used that part of the song as the Menu music for Beatles Rockband
Actually The Beatles were trend setters not only in music but in fashion. That being said, the outfits they wore in the Hello Goodbye video was just for that video. They didn't normally dress that way. They were usually very fashionable.
Those uniforms were made for them to wear for the COVER of their 1967 album "SGT. PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND. Yes the only time they performed in their Sgt. Peppers uniforms was FOR the video for "Hello Goodbye" ANYONE KNOW WHY he DIDN'T even LISTEN to "HELLO GOODBYE" OR play the video?? HE CUT IT OFF. He listened to all the other songs and watched the other videos.
"Strawberry Fields Forever" was written by John Lennon in Spain while he was being an actor in a war comedy movie called How I Won the War. The director, Richard Lester, had already directed 2 Beatles movies, and he later directed SUPERMAN II and SUPERMAN III.
if i may be allowed a little shameless self promotion, last week i saw a beatles cover band called the fab four, and they played a ton of songs from this album. seeing them played live is next level good. video is on my channel.
Kezzy doing the dang thing, better album from the Beatles is Sergeant Peppers lonely hearts club band, hopefully you check it out. Nice reaction though 👍🏻
Just clicking on play now. This is a good entry point into their mind-blowing career. There is a lot of just instantly likeable stuff on this album, but it is just phase five of the seven or so phases of the Beatles (in my counting).
@ yes, today some women’s underwear are called knickers but back in the day knickers were 3/4 length pants worn with knee high socks. Look it up. Google pictures of knickers. You’ll see all the old pics of knickers.
When I see you react, I see the power in the music. The Beatles resonate all the way to the present. Borrowing from the past and reinventing the genre.
In 1967 I was 7 years old and Strawberry Fields freaked me out...."Living is easy with eyes closed" "nothing to get hung about" "let me take you down"....etc.
I love watching people's first reactions to my favorite band. Im tell ya right this, this is a WILD album to start with haha. 😅 I will say, to fully understand the lads, go from the beginning. Cant wait to see more g
Start in the '60s with their first album and go through their whole discography. It's only about 214 songs and a few of those are covers You can also watch videos of them including concert footage and people like me will be there sometimes more than once to watch every single thing just to watch you expose yourself to the Beatles. It's a long and winding road man let's take that trip together..
1960's band. Formed in1960; split up just before 1970. Released some of the most iconic rock music ever recorded in just a 5 year period from 1964-1969. Magical Mystery Tour was released in 1967.
The 4 Beatles are a Rock band that was together for roughly 8 years, 1962 to 1970. During that time (and thereafter) they sold more records than anyone else in history. That record still stands. The members are John Lennon (composer, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, harmonica), Paul McCartney (composer, lead singer and harmonies, bass, keyboards, occasionally plays lead guitar as well), George Harrison (composer, lead guitarist, occasionally sings lead as well as harmony, and Ringo Starr (drummer, occasional singer as well as composer). They all hail from Liverpool, England.
blue jay way is a street in LA. and...he was waiting to be picked up for dinner! side one is the soundtrack for a tv show they did. side 2 are singles out at the time. in u.k. it was issued with just the soundtrack songs on 2 45 7 inch e.p.s 6 songs.
George Harrison owned a home down in L.A. right outside of Hollywood in the hills on blue jay way . He was having a party everyone was tripping and he was waiting for his “ connection “ who got lost in that Santa Monica fog . And the rest as they say is history.

This album was essentially a soundtrack written by them for a self made movie, albiet an early groundbreaking music video made for a tv special. They did the movie themselves without a script, it was a bad movie, but looking back was innovative to alot of things the movie industry does today, and the music was all inspired as a dream.
For anyone new to the Beatles and wanting to understand their influence on music and culture--check out a couple of documentaries that put it all in historical context of the times and why they had such a strong and lasting effect. How the Beatles Changed the World and What Made the Beatles the Greatest Band of All Time (Amplified channel on UA-cam).
I grew up with this band. Beatles...1960 to 1970 . John Lennon unfortunately was shot and killed in 1980. Members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr still tour today in their 80s. Their recent live stuff is on youtube. 2 separate tours that is. At the end of I am the Walrus ....we used to think it was "everybody smokes pot" or everybody's fucked up" . I suggest you start with their 1963 album...Meet The Beatles and work your way through their entire catalogue. you won't regret it
25:15 I wanted to explain some things, but I'll start with the basics, if you want to know when the Beatles were a band. They were a band, from the UK, in the 1960s. Their first album came out in 1963, which was a fine example of music of that year/period, sounding NOTHING like the album you're listening to here, which came out in late 1967. You wouldn't think it was the same band, that's how far they progressed in four years! The band lasted until they broke up late in 1969, which they didn't let the public know about until a few months later in 1970. The final album they *_recorded_* was _Abbey Road,_ but an album they mainly worked on before that was released afterward, in 1970, _Let It Be,_ perhaps appropriately titled. A strange thing about the _Magical Mystery Tour_ album is that the Beatles themselves did not have the idea to release it as a full album of 11 tracks. Its first six tracks, which made up side 1 of the LP release in 1967, were from their hour-long UK television film of the same name as the album. Back in the UK, the Beatles released these six tracks as a two-EP set, that is, two 7-inch 45rpm discs, each of which had two tracks on one side (as EPs do, usually with both sides), and one longer track ("Blue Jay Way" and "I Am the Walrus", respectively) on the other side. But in the U.S., the group's American record company, Capitol records, decided to release a full LP by putting the six film tracks on side one, and five songs the Beatles had put out on three 45rpm singles throughout that year (the sixth song issued, on the last of those singles, was the film song "I Am the Walrus") to fill up side 2. The idea of filling side 1 with "film songs" and side 2 with songs unrelated to said film was something the Beatles themselves had done twice before, with albums tied in to their two comedy movies, _A Hard Day's Night_ in 1964, and _Help!_ in 1965. Yes, the Beatles had starred in a pair of comedy movies in those years! Years later, in 1987, when it was being decided how to release every song the Beatles had put out in the CD format, it was decided that the Capitol MMT full album was the way to handle those 11 tracks. What with the film tracks including a number of notable titles, and the "side 2 songs" from their singles, the _Magical Mystery Tour_ album was practically a "mini greatest hits" album!
The Beatles were recording music for EMI from October 1962 to January 1970. In a little over 7 years they changed everything in society. The music. The hair styles. The clothing. The attitude.
"forever" in Strawberry Fields sounds funny because is damn good 🤣; it beautifully resolves such elegant melody. What you were experiencing was nervous laughter at the sheer genius of the song.
This is an atypical album for The Beatles as Side A is the soundtrack for their "Magical Mystery Tour" TV film and side B is a bunch of singles that were not included on any album up to this time. Side A was released in England as an EP with the soundtrack material. This version is a USA release. The Beatles were primarily a 1960s band that broke up in 1970. "Strawberry Fields Forever" was released in February 1967 and the "Magical Mystery Tour" album was released in November 1967.
Interesting choice of a first album of the Beatles to listen to. I've always thought this was one of their more trippy albums. You should do Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road.
This dropped in 1967 the prime era of psychedelia when trippy and inventive experimentation were in constant motion with new sounds ,,. The albums in year order 65 to 70 . Rubber Soul Revolver Sgt Pepper The Beatles self title double album aka white album Abbey Road Let It Be
The Beatles recorded from 1962 until 1969. They invented music videos when they stopped touting in 1966. The outfits were from Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. ( their prior album).
The Beatles released 13 albums between 1963-1970. This album was released in 1967 and is really just the soundtrack to a movie they made plus singles they released from that time. The main singers were John Lennon (singer/guitar) and Paul McCartney (singer/bass), George Harrison (lead guitar) also wrote and sang some songs. The drummer is Ringo Starr, who wrote a couple and sang a few notable songs. This album that you reviewed it’s probably one of their least best. Compared to their earlier albums Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band, and some later albums White Album and Abbey Road, this album honestly doesn’t come close. I suggest you listen to the ones I mentioned because they are all classic albums that showcase their abilities the best. Enjoy some flowers and sit back
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. The core lineup of the band comprised John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The Beatles are the pioneers of Rock n' Roll music and considered by Music critics as the GOAT and spearhead the "British Invasion." British Invasion was when British Rock bands like The Beatles and The Who crash into the ears of American public and sold millions of albums and records!!!

He says "knickers"...not what you think lol..knickers is British slang for underwear I believe
By the way an interesting choice of an album for your introduction to The Beatles..Cant wait for you to dive into their greatest albums like Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Peppers. the White Album and especialley Abbey Road!
This is one of their best to me, although I agree it's an interesting starting point for listening to the band lol
The Beatles are a brand new band that was formed in 2018.
Haha. If social media hasn't picked you up, you don't actually exist...
@phila3884 huh?
"Blue Jay Way" was written by George Harrison in a rental house in Los Angeles. He actually waited, and waited, and waited for friends to show up but they got lost trying to find the place George had rented.
Too bad no GPS.

Technically this isn’t an album but an EP with the other half of the album being singles.
The Fantastic hypnotizing 🪲🪲🪲🪲Beatles 🍏 there is no band as creative and colorful ever!! ...I love your reaction they're very Beatlemania ❤
I Am The Walrus was a direct response to the press (or something like that), who were claiming that their lyrics didn't make any sense. And thus John Lennon wrote I Am The Walrus, which is just lyrical nonsense, but it's still probably my favourite song on the album.
I heard it was because colleges were over analyzing their songs so he wrote this in response
Idk why people were say most of their stuff prior from revolver made no sense.
You didn't do the whole album, you skipped "Hello Goodbye"
Recommend Stg.

If you really want to hear the full range of their creativity , do the White Album!
I've posted the same, on multiple forums. The White Album is their most creative. By far. And maybe their best. But my personal favorite will always be Abbey Road.
Look at the cover of the Sergeant peppers lonely hearts club album… you will understand😎
It's more than vibes. It's psychedelic. Substances were used by some back in the day when listening.
Its difficult for you to understand just how mind blowingly different this was at the time.
Man your right you should be Tripping to these songs!
Shss! don't tell our parents but most of us were back in the day!!....
He's actually saying cranberry sauce in strawberry fields lol

"Strawberry Fields Forever" was written by John Lennon in Spain while he was being an actor in a war comedy movie called How I Won the War. The director, Richard Lester, had already directed 2 Beatles movies, and he later directed SUPERMAN II and SUPERMAN III.

Awesome that you are doing this bro !
Love your reactions! The one and only Beatles: 1962 - 1970
It wasn’t the N word. It was “Boy you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down.” Knickers are pants in England.
not pants, UNDERPANTS/ panties (for girls/women) "Pants" cover your entire leg.
1960's band. Formed in1960; split up just before 1970. Released some of the most iconic rock music ever recorded in just a 5 year period from 1964-1969. Magical Mystery Tour was released in 1967.
If you never heard the Beatles before then this is definitely not the place to start. Start at the beginning of the band and work towards the end.
ABOLUTELY!!! I listed ALL the UK albums in order of their release above.

Your pleasure shone through for this album. Thanks for sharing the joy. Another great album of theirs: Revolver
The band that changed Rock N roll 1963.
I think it’s cool you trying some new music you should check out the white album
The Beatles were recording music for EMI from October 1962 to January 1970. In a little over 7 years they changed everything in society. The music. The hair styles. The clothing. The attitude.
Fantastic reaction. Footwork is *passable*.
