Jose is so soulful. I remember as a kid watching the 1968 World Series between the Tigers and the Cardinals at which he sung his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Caused quite a stir back then. But Jose handled it great. He's always been such classy and gracious guy.
Brings the Latin flavor and style to both songs and the result is wonderful takes on two classic songs! Thanks Jose Feliciano. Even Robbie Krieger, who wrote Light my Fire, said it was his favorite cover version.
My father took me to see him at a coffee shop on Sunset Blvd. in 1958. I was all dressed up as a Beetnick and too young to drive. "Yo quero pasar en California"! Yes! Genius!

I had the pleasure of singing with Michael at Il Forno in La Jolla - when they were hosting weekend karaoke back around 1998-2000 or so. He's amazingly talented, great singing voice, incredible tenor sax, fabulous on the guitar, and a great producer. He's an amazing talent. We are so lucky to have him in Southern CA! This is an awesome arrangement! Wow!
To live through it as a very young person listening to transister radios and 45's and on the P.A. at the community pool and on American Bandstand and watching Jose in a rare TV performance back then when there were only 3 channels with nothing on to choose from there was still great stuff like this happening. Now, there's plenty to choose from and this holds up to this day against anything in it's path. Time-less. Bravo Jose!!!

To all rock/heavy metal guitarists, with all their toys, fuzzboxes etc. and their hammer ons and pull offs- what would happen if all the toys were taken away, and you had to play each note with no hammer ons and pulloffs? Would you still think that you can play guitar? Think you could match that?
As Jose said once... You need good hands to play good guitar. Him and Paco de Lucia.. (R.I.P...)...have the greatest guitar hands in all guitar history.
