God, the coverage is ATROCIOUS (I know everybody has already said it). I've been watching golf for 20 years, and the Ryder Cup is always fun and dynamic. How could you make it so slow? How could you miss so many shots?
Its partly because this is not the main US golf coverage, and there are some kind of rules over what they can show (feature groups and holes etc.). But yeah, the announcer's are pretty bad.
Love how the US expert at the start assumes DJ will beat the Postman. Nobody EVER beats the Postman in the Ryder Cup. As for Molinari. Absolute legend. Best EVER performance over 3 days in the Ryder Cup. The US don't seem to get that Europe is ALWAYS better than the sum of it's parts. The team spirit gains them 4-5 points every time.
PGA are you serious. Showing commentators playing shots on the virtual course when the top golfers in the world are on the course. And stop with all the cutting away with your fancy graphics. We want to see golf and golfers.
As an European, it's the biggest joy to see all these star-allured Americans struggle on a golf course that requires more than smoking driver 340. Ryder Cups in my opinion also show what the real problems of the PGA are, they train all their guys to be incredibly successfull individuals, but no team players whatsoever. The Americans experience golf courses throughout their junior days where you learn what it takes to be successfull on the PGA Tour, but not what it takes to succeed on strategic courses like LeGolfNational
Americans and not just "united state-ans" have a crabs in a barrel mentallity.
Compare strokes gained on the PGA tour to the Euro tour. Yes, Europe is better at team play. No, you're not better golfers than the Americans.
@@DoodeWarrior Oh yes we are pet..🤣🤣
Poor, negative announcing. Not near enough golf shot coverage.
the PGA announcers are the worst
4:02:00 Commentators don't realise Fowler had driven into the water at 15, and thus made bogey. Sergio's long putt was to halve the hole.
But because their useless coverage missed so many shots, they don't realise & assume Garcia is time-wasting by putting!
Guys stop complaining - this is excellent if your having difficulty falling asleep lol
possibly the worst coverage of golf I've ever seen! They tell you the score of the games before showing you what happened.
Is there any way the 2012 Ryder cup can be uploaded?
Sunday of 2012 is on Vimeo now.
Some days I think this whole internet video thing will catch on. Finding this video is one of those moments. Thanks for the upload.
I feel bad for anyone who actually watched this coverage back in 2018. There were so many great moments that weren't shown. Horrendous coverage.
I was lucky enough to be there on Friday and Saturday. And it was WARM! Nice and warm. Breezy but not difficult conditions.
"Jordan spieth can certainly take care of Olesen" Nah fam
Commentator got it so wrong Hollywood didn't win 9 point they won 5 between them! A fantastic achievement no doubt.
This coverage could not be worse
No commercials every 5 mins like in the american broadcasts.
The first tee is the most exciting tee and yet we only get to see a few tee-offs absolutely dreadful coverage
Agree..no excuse
Absolutly dreadful coverage. It is amazing it can be so bad. How many live shots did they show during the 4 hours?
This coverage isn't very, erm, comprehensive... I understand that they don't have much to show before the first tee, but even when multiple pairs are getting through multiple holes, the commentators are still killing time as if there's nothing to show 🤷🏻♂️
Anyone know of better coverage here on youtube?
Also, how comes they have Irish music playing for a tournament in France?
This is a classic example why LIV golf broadcast coverage is so popular when compared to PGA broadcast coverage.
This wasn't main coverage. It was an online coverage not the typical NBC coverage
HAHAHA You blokes amaze me. You hardly praised the Europeans
Completely awful coverage, why do people PAY for this coverage! We see the first match tee off, then we do stupid studio stuff, then we see the second match tee off after which they tell us that Mcllroy lost the first hole BEFORE then showing what happened! Did they forget they had cameras all over the course? Did they forget there was live playing going on?
Have to agree, this coverage is a joke. The commentators are not telling a single thing what the people don't see themselves. Where are info of yardages and clubs??
Remember watching Belfry in the 80:s live, it was like a million times better already than. Shame on this channel.
This isn't full coverage... This is "featured" coverage where they can only show certain parts, shots etc... Sky sports in UK or ESPN and the like in USA would have shown all the shots and given a fuller coverage.
Daniel Berger was wrong …… Molinari was the beast, not Justin Thomas
What do you Think of a charity tournament for team europe next year with press and public Training and Photos before the take off to the States ?
12:20 1957 Great "Britian"......very professional.
the commentators are so bad, the coverage is even worse
You have the best golfers in the world going at it but yet they continue to show the old grandpa hacking it into a simulator in the studio!!! The worst coverage of golf I've ever seen!!
came on here late to make the same comment. just watching five minutes of two dudes with cold takes in the studio while there are seven active ryder cup singles matches alive. it'd be a little better if they had a faldo or miller commenting but krazert and the other guy offer nothing. and the sharing of tweets with lame tweets, ugh.
This isn’t the actual coverage it’s a web stream. They are not allowed to upload the actual coverage because NBC owns it
In answer to those that denigrate the course- wide fairways, long courses, and little rough is boring. Golf is not a power sport, to master it you need to be proficient in all aspects. With that in mind you want to see the best players tested in all of those areas- not a power drive course that just becomes a putting contest. It was a fantastic course that required skill and gave us a real golf spectacle.
What it also did is show, as others before it, that world rankings are PGA biased (for marketing reasons I guess) and that the US players aren't as ahead as media and chest-thumping would have you believe. The PGA needs to get away from the power game and make tournaments test players more- shorter courses, more skill, and better for the environment too. Smashing a drive 340 yards is not the be all and end all of golf.
Couldn't agree more, I also laughed at how many poor caddie calls were made on the American side, especially on the first two days. The Americans are great golfers, but grew up learning that power can often overrule finesse
On first seeing the course I didn't like it but then having seen more thought what a good and fair test it was,I find the constant bleating about how 'murrican players play best on fast greens very grating,I always thought the best players could adjust and play what's in front of them .... Seve,Faldo and Norman travelled the globe successfully, the PGA Tour guys stay at home.
Well, why don't we just play executive courses (par 3 courses) for the Ryder Cup? Then it will be just like LeGolfNational, when you have to hit a sand wedge off every tee box. Call me old fashioned but golf should be a test of all 14 clubs not just a wedge contest. Also, Bjorn made the greens so slow (8 on the stimp) that putting didn't matter. No matter, in 2020 the US will pick an 8,500 yard course and the greens will be at 13.
@@therottenrook What course were you looking at? It was nothing like that at all. It was fantastic for players and fans alike with great recovery's, great putting, spectacular up 'n downs, some great drives and iron play. I bet more of the club's were used than on a normal, run of the mill PGA course which basically just encourages long hitting and a putting contest.
I'm seriously wondering how some people don't seem to appreciate how good it is.
@@therottenrook I'm sure they said in commentary that the greens were 10.5 ...
Fair and square Thomas Bjorn deserves all the credit for that tremendous setup. Neutralize the long hitters. Shoot it even neutralized Rors and Henriks long bombs too.
"Jordan Spieth can certainly take care of Olesen" Proceeds to get crushed 5&4
Europe flat out played the USA as a team. The US team never adjusted to the course and how to properly play it. Congrats to Europe on the win. Team USA we can do better then this.
Americans don't get international sport or international team sports.
Got to agree , USA coverage of golf in general if your a golf fan is very frustrating ,,, just show us the shots 😳
This wasn't the primary coverage
too much talking and not enough golf
The simulator is the star of the show
How long extra is DJ allowed before playing?
Magic !!
To compare it to football: The USA in Europe arrive as the Galacticos of Real Madrid, a group of incredible individuals, all with separate aims, versus Barcelona, a team of players knitted together via their academy: Xavi, Messi, Iniesta, Puyol, Fabregas, Busquets. Far, far greater than the sum of their parts, who changed the way football is played at the highest level.
That’s the bit the USA just don’t have: Poulter, Molinari, McIlroy, players who roar like lions.
Woefully ignorant commentary,if in doubt give the credit to Tiger .... first high profile player to work on muscular development was Frank Stranahan, top amateur in the '40's and '50's who finished 2nd at Carnoustie behind Ben Hogan, there's a video of Frank playing against and beating Arnold Palmer here on UA-cam.
Subsequently Gary Player became known for fitness training but Stranahan was the original.
When a match is AS it would be MUCH better to show no flag in stead of showing both flags! So then you can see immediately which matches are going which way.
Who the hell figured out the score presentation? Logic would say you put a flag alongside the player (US or European) leading in the match. You can then see, at a glance, which team is ahead. Putting a US flag and a European flag on screen to indicate a match that is all square just doesn't make any sense; you simply don't need any flags at all when the match is all square. There was one time when there were 7 US flags and 8 European flags (a total of 15 flags) on the screen ... in 12 matches...?!!.
Tell me why Tiger wore wet suit trousers?
4:12:57 - and Olazábal? Or is Medinah not spoken of ;)
Woods Ryder cup played 37 matches 13 wins 21 losses 3 halves. 14,5 points from a possible 37
53:00 P790s? Justin Rose?
This coverage is terrible. If this was all you saw you'd think the story of the day was the US team sinking putt after putt after putt.
What is the reasoning with showing an empty grandstand as a standard shot throughout the video. Does nothing for the show.
There is no other sport where a team captain gets to direct and plan the field of play to favour their strengths. The R&A should be doing this, to show no favouritism. Of all the sports, golf prides itself on it’s integrity and the respect of rules of play, and they allow a team to teak the field of play - preposterous !
its pretty clear - besides all their majors and individual talents the US guys ( maybe except Koepka ) are comfortable playing their same style golf courses ( dartboard greens + putting contests ) just because its where the money is. They are content to become millionaires at the expense of becoming more all rounded golfers.
This is hilarious how the Americans are blocking out the crowd 😂🤣
Dear PGA, please redo this, you're scaring people off golf with poor coverage..........
they dont have the calibre of the bbc commentators , Mark James , Peter Alliss etc . it aint happening. awful commentary tho - no continuity or fluidity just like golf commentary on prozac
fantastik rough challenge, if ye canni play oot the rough don't take the gemme up lol, looks in excellent condition
The Americans should find an obscure course in the US that has wide fairways and is VERY long. They don't do that because they care about the game. The Euros find these courses that even the Open Championship doesn't rotate to. I guess we should change the rules about picking players and allow the Captain of the US team to pick shorter and straighter hitters. Euros played very well, but this course had a huge impact and is not like most UK or American courses. Admit it.
Not saying they did it on purpose but if they did it was smart. Reguardless of whatever course these guys play long or straight they still have to go out and make shots. The euros did about all tounament and the americans didnt.
@@wpollock1 The Open is only played on links courses, the Ryder Cup isn't. They don't "find" these courses, they all exist and are well known....unless you're an insulated individual. All the Ryder Cup constantly proves is 1) the rankings are USPGA biased and it's players aren't as ahead of others as the fans and media would have you believe, and 2) the PGA tour needs to play more proper courses instead of encouraging power to be the largest factor.
Full replay my arse
My goodness.. these announcers are sooooooooo dry!
Gary McCord is badly needed.
@@gingercat777 no no no!!!!! mccord is funny in interviews bu not funny as announcers . glad they fired him and also mr. dull himself peter costis
also cant stand jim nance . mr emotion. and mr. romantic. he turns everything into sweet stories .. give me azinger and johnny and tireco anytime
@@oldmcdonald9582 Azinger was a dick on the course and he hasn't changed
There should never be conceded putts at professional level - match play means you play for a point or half-point for each hole. But the ball should end at bottom of the cup. Majors have been lost with putts that might have been conceded. The player posts a score for the hole when the ball sits at bottom of a cup/hole. That gets rid of any pressure of giving putts that may appear close enough but the match is too close and competitive. There’s enough pressure of each player trying to execute their shots - they don’t need the pressure of absolving their opponents responsibility in their own execution of shots.
Why isn't Rory mcilroy playing against Tiger Woods
The players don't get matched up. Each captain submits his line-up without knowing the other's. It's pot luck who ends up playing against who - it's not pre-arranged.
Time to get into the present. Professional golfers need to be allowed to use rangefinders. Will save loads of time they spend doing yardage calculations.
To be fair this was the American coverage... Why would they want to show their players getting a damn good thrashing? 🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺🇪🇺
This was a secondary coverage that I guarantee no one watched
As bad as this coverage is in terms of the commentary, lack of action, by far the worst aspect is the fact you can’t hear the shots. Go to Sky Sports coverage
had to show the pro's head to toe when he swing. Not his torso.
Wow
OMG YES YES YES
The only time a player should pick up their ball is when they have lost the hole before they get a chance to putt. To halve a hole, the hole should be putted out - too many short putts missed by pros.
Got about 3 predictions right lol
WHY TF WOULD I WANT TO SEE THOSE OLD GITS IN THE STUDIO AND NOT THE SECOND SHOTS????
Tiger didn’t like to wear white pants 🤣
Holy heaven this braodcast is boring. Switching back to Miracle at Medinah.
I do. Okb
I get that humans have a natural patriotic prejudice, but aren't commentators meant to at least act objective? Especially when they're away from home? And it was absolutely flat as well, hardly any intrigue or meaningful analysis. Shambles from these lot, hopefully this humbles them
Phil could not deal with the pressure
First time since 2006 that Tiger Woods didn't face a Molinari in the singles.
I would take the totally impartial commentary of Dougie Donnelly, Sam Torrance, Bruce Critchley, Ewen Murray and Richard Boxall any day, rather than these opinionated commentators. Oh, and by the way, do you not recognise that there is something inherently wrong with references to Tiger and Rahm?
Yea its tiger, tiger, tiger, but its Rahm,Fleetwood,Molinari, ,,,,,,,,,biased Yanks,,,,,maybe they are on first name terms with him???????
Tiger one of the best matchplay records, is the commentator pissed.Have a look at his Walker cup record and Ryder cup record and get your facts right.
They literally went too far with the two grandpas giving lessons, including the one that gives advices but unable to hit a shot on the virtual simulator. One ball OB, one rough and one in the water...clowns!!
Clowns is exactly correct!!!
Please! Golf would be so much more enjoyable on television without the commentary/commentators!
I watched it without the sound; it was weird without the mindless chatter.
Who wants to see players walking between shots???
That's a lot of people to watch golf! I don't understand the crowds to be honest, after all they hit the ball walk hit it again. LOL
Stupid cameramen... Why does not captured the ball being striked by iron on the par 5...why????
casey is a chocker. always has been. folds in final round
"You saw there the handshake and hug from a team. Some one won it... or they could have halved it" This has sent me into 3 years of sleep. Who won?
Dull, dull, uninformed, dull.
Golf simulator is absurd! Coverage showed the same 4 holes the entire time. Horrible golf telecast.
Missing Fowlers shot in the water and slagging off Sergio is an absolute low!! Talking about gamesmanship ......you haven’t got a clue .....laughing stock these two guys!!
The disgruntled tiger woods refusing to wear team colours,or disguising them under wets, says it all European teams have won 9 of the last 11 that's the difference in team sports tiger should be showing a better example being a senior player.
SKY sports coverage is much better
The commentary is interminable.
This is tough to watch.
Commentator saying 1 word song 🤣🤣🤣🤣....... I must say its better than the only song USA know, the 3 letter song which is "USA"
Americans are absolutely diabolical when it comes to getting behind their players!! Only song they know is "USA"
Sergio.....Sergio..... Sergio.......Sergio.
Why that old men not just say, gratulation to the Europ`s...?
Whats this guy hitting shots on a simulator and he went straight in the water smh
Noticed that the screaming spectators all have american accents??
How on earth this video has 9 times more likes than dislikes is baffling beyond belief. If you happen to be reading this comment before committing too much of your day to actually watching the video, I would strongly urge you to find something that was NOT produced by the PGA. I wish I had. Utter garbage. Whinging about the course, advertising of PGA products and persistently cutting away to someone hacking balls on a simulator, not to mention describing what has happened in a match BEFORE showing you the actual footage, coupled with boring PGA propaganda and nonsense. There was an incredible amount of fantastic golf on show that day and this video will show you about 10 minutes of it.
This is so boring, I fell asleep, then gave up. It’s a long lesson on how to Not cover a golf tournament. For an example of how to give the coverage pace, continuity, action, drama ... go to coverage, on UA-cam, of the Masters Final Round 2019 ... Tiger’s comeback. Thrilling stuff, all 5+ hours, shot-by-shot.
these announcers talk like tiger is still the best player out there, he's not. i think rahm has the easiest match. tiger is just a figurehead these days
Terrible coverage makes the bbc look amazing
Terrible coverage ...... BBC are absolute Masters in Golf coverage!!
Some very slooow play
I realize this broadcast is not the main US network and so has limitations, but my god. They are commenting on the big shots being shown on the big screens on the course; they are talking away in the studio while big shots are happening; showing scores before showing the play. Yikes. Billy Kratzert is OK as a colour commentator but Brian Katrek is just painful to listen to. They were most brutal on 15th hole for the Garcia-Fowler match 4:02:00 ...they didn't even know Fowler had already found the water off the tee (and thinking that Garcia taking his time for his putt - believing he had already won the hole - was some sort unsporting "gamesmanship", when actually nothing had been won yet). I mean, AS IF any pro golfer would do something like that?! Yikes.
Garda with his gamemenship on 15th hole by putting out even though the hole was lost caused a delay and took Fowler out of some rhythm to *#% him up on the next hole - he should’ve got a warning to move along for the delay
No - Fowler had driven into the water and had taken a 5 on the hole. Garcia's long putt was to halve the hole.
Because the coverage is so appalling and missed so many shots, the commentators didn't realise.
This coverage is awful. Not a good advert for one of the best sporting events on the planet. Such sluggish coverage, they would rather focus on tiger scratching his ass than switching to other action happening all around the course. Very self indulgent for the hosts to hack balls away on a golf simulator. And the coverage basically stopped and post-match analysis started whilst the winning action was unfolding. Unlucky for those who were stuck with this coverage
Piss poor coverage .. no flow no rythm .. sad
Don’t bother watching this coverage is pathetic.
*tweak*
