- In an exclusive interview with The Star, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he is not a moderate Muslim, but all Muslims should practice moderation.
He added that there are people who abuse the religion by not practicing what is written in the Quran but claim their action is in-line with the religion’s teachings.

Lets get to facts. Giving monies to poor, destitute, people who are incapacitated, the sick, the unfortunate is not a bribe in definition nor implication. It is called giving a helping hand, welfare, sedeqah, alms, charity and many other terms which convey similar meaning. Labeling all this effort as bribes are simply irresponsible, immoral and wrong to the point of being vulgar. As a leader of the people, it is shameful to see an elderly veteran leader who does not seem to be able to differentiate between bribery and welfare.
Now to proverb of "teaching to catch fish will provide for a life time. Giving fish is good for a day".
Teaching skills and knowledge to "catch fish" takes time and effort. In the mean time you still need to help him with food and drinks.

theres a lot of things you gotta learn before making that claims. Yes, the punishment for thieving is cutting the criminal's hand off. But, did you know that there are many many prerequisites that border the decisions? for example, a thief who was stealing because of poverty will not be judged guilty. in this case, the ones who are deemed responsible is/are government officials who failed to recognise and assist the poor.
another example, the value of wealth also determined whether the thief should be punished or not. another example, the belongings that were lost, the circumstances regarding it shall also be taken into consideration. did the owner lost it due to his own carelessness? if the owner took every precautions to prevent theft from happening, but the theft still occurs, then the thief will be punished.
in simpler terms, while this punishment seems severe to most, the fact is, the only thieves that were being punished were the ones who have passion for stealing things, they did it because they like stealing stuff, not because they are desperately in need of money.
same goes for other criminal punishments.
this is why the rules and regulations cannot be executed in Malaysia, since the knowledge about it is still below par. believe me, sir, this system is the most just. you can see people today are getting jailed because they stole merely rm15 from the mosque or shoplifting in desperation, is this just? if there is any hidden circumstances, everything will be taken into considerations.
but the ones who are calling for the execution of these system refuse to educate the community first, thus resulting in poor understanding of the masses.
At this age wisdom comes in...still sharp and clear about what he wants...everyone wants free stuff without effort...that's what he has been stressing...I diligently pay taxes and I am happy..the least I can do for my country...

The money the govt get from collecting tax from us in the urban area are used to bribe those lazy people in the rural area when they monry should be used to build our country. They should learn not to get help from the govt maybe that way that can start working or abandon their laziness.

If there are more good people in a bad party, Allah might just forgive and enter them all to heaven whereas, if there are more bad people even in the best and good of parties, if Allah says ....NO...!!, he might admit them all to hell, even the righteous ones. There is a saying in the Quran on this. To Allah, belongs the east and west and everything in between. Moral of the story is, if we think others are bad, then Allah can just say we are worst than them. Malaysia is harping too much on religion.. Leads to no progress.. Religion.. leave it to individuals.. No point being extremist and having double standards on Malaysians.. Make equal law fr all Malaysians and balance up the race ratio in civil service to give a boost on the output.. Schools and universities should be religion free.. You want cash to work properly and bring prosperity to Malaysia and all Malaysians. You want all Malaysians to live comfortably. You do not want any Malaysian to be hardcore poor. The problem is cash is misused. When cash is misused, people will not prosper and they will complain. Hardcore poor is people who live on the streets, wear clothing they find in the dumpster, eat food from the rubbish bins, bath in the drains, have no means of earning cash for themselves. Again, it is how you manage the money.
