When I asked the polisher why he does it. He simply replied people pay me money 💰🤑 to do it.

This subject is as old as the hobby itself. Not everyone can afford mint marbles and opt instead for polished versions. Others are more accepting of marbles with a little" personality." I remember 40 years ago, polished handmades were taboo no matter how rare of a type it was . This will be an ongoing subject for as long as the hobby exists. Myself, I have a little bit of everything, I just buy what I like. Another great video, keep up the good work!

Great show ! Polished marbles remind me of ....Dolly Parton's new stretched face lifted into a morbid example of beauty. In a perfect world, yes, the dealer should tell you . We live with the motto, buyer beware. Great show man. Love that huge onion skin , untouched the day it was made . Take care now .

I would say if they are for sale and polished it should indicate so. That way its up to you if you want to buy polished marble for the price or not. I just feel beeing more informative about the product you are selling feels more honest and attracts more customers that appreciate honest sellers.

If you're buying them for personal liking that's awesome you can get a lot of bang for your buck. If you try to trade with them or sell them good luck is my experience. Thanks for your feedback and leaving a comment. Good luck hunting those cool old German marbles 🍻

I think it has to be a particular marble, i have a shrunken onion that is so shrunk-in it wont effect the color so i believe it needs to be polished because you can barely see the mib

i agree with you 100%.. it's disgraceful to polish a marble whether to try and restore or to deceive .i call them milk duds because of the shape and the disappointment.

I like perfect perfect marbles but to me when they have damage or play dents, the play dents give them character and they also tell a story as well. I call the ones that are dinged up " Wounded Warriors "
As far as polishing marbles go I would not do that even if they are dinged up I like the dents and dings because they tell a story

I’ll risk a comment, first all machine made are not perfectly round, these day a lot of marbles dug at factory sites are out there, many of these are discarded because they were malformed or damaged, 75% of my collection consists if these type of marbles, I don’t mind the flaws but they do anything special for me, I don’t collect handmades so I don’t really have much of an opinion, I will say that even if polishing try to leave the Pontil, all that being said I agree that if a polished marble is being sold it should be disclosed for sure. In terms of a persons collection, well that’s their own business if the want to polish it not, I do have one polished Akro and I am glad that I had it done, it was so dinged that I couldn’t see the internal swirls but after it was polished it it an absolutely stunning marble. I would show before and after photos here if i could, I don’t think we should go crazy and start polishing every marble out there but I do think there are instances where the value can be increased. IMHO

I traded with a polisher years back to polish my really bad marbles, he kept half...frosted and pitted machine mades and hand makes that we're couldn't even see inside only. He did several hundred for me and I enjoy as they are beautiful now...I won't sell and keep separate. But I have some large handmade marbles I plan to get polished as ugly and cant display..No ? Issues with doing.

A polished turd is still a turd. I prefer history completely straight up. I prefer my history honest and complete. It really upsets me and frustrates me to no end when they try to erase history. And even more so when they try to rewrite history. In order for us to understand who we are and where we will go as a species we need to understand where we came from. And if they polish all the nicks and deans off of our history then we never really will know will be?

I can’t believe I clicked on this video. First off, I can say that I have a polishing machine and have polished thousands of marbles. Also, I can say that I haven’t sold any marbles in over 10 years. But in the past I have sold over $50,000 worth of marbles on eBay. I have ALWAYS disclosed accurately the condition of what I sold. I won’t disclose my eBay seller name but anyone in the hobby over 15 years would recognize me.
Anybody over the age of 8 years old with a 10X loupe can recognize a polished marble. Don’t buy shit that you know nothing about. I have dealt in marbles for over 25 years and have never been fooled. Buyer beware. Also, anyone saying that they prefer a dinged up destroyed marble over a restored surface that can be seen and enjoyed is someone that just can’t afford the good stuff and should find another hobby.

    • @JamesGomes-ex6wu

I totally agree. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I just can’t accept that someone would enjoy shattered, unidentifiable pieces of junk over something that has been restored to its former glory. Again, I get it. We live in a society where people can identify as cats. So I can only hope that these people will lick their butts for authenticity rather than use a toilet like normal people. Can you see the parallel to polished marbles? I can.

@@JamesGomes-ex6wu take all your polished crap to a marble show and try to sell it and see what serious collector say about it 😁 pennies on the dollar compared to unmolested original marbles. Maybe if you can't afford to buy original unpolished marbles you should find another hobby that's my opinion. I wouldn't be snarky with you but that's the comment you left so you get what you dish out 💯✌️

    • @JamesGomes-ex6wu

Dude, I guarantee that my marble collection far exceeds anything that you have. I have insane respect for the old stuff. I think that we would actually be friends and have mutual respect if we were to meet. I have been to uncounted marble shows and I know how the hobby works. I just can’t understand how anyone who has respect for modern marbles like Jabo glass and contemporary makers can have such a closed mind about people that actually want to restore trashed historical marbles into something that can be enjoyed by everyone 100 years later . Dude, I’m not the enemy.

@@JamesGomes-ex6wu I really do not know what to tell you other than I am happy you like polished marbles. This is my channel so I'm sorry you don't agree with my opinion on my channel. I'm also happy you have such a great collection. However at the end of the day if you're just here to talk about it and not share it with the world what's the point? Start your channel post your marbles I'll subscribe and support you and complain about those polished marbles. With all that said I would never log on to your channel and tell you my marbles collection was much better than yours or try to belittle your opinions on your channel. This is just a fun hobby for me. Then I have to deal with someone with a attitude about my opinions and it makes me want to cancel this whole UA-cam.
