Good lecture, nice overview with sufficient detail on calcium/phosphate regulation. I enjoyed it. I believe there is a typo on your slide shown around the 9 minute mark. Increase in PTH will result in decrease of serum phosphate not increase. You describe it correctly, it's just written wrong.

I was in Nephrology department during 3rd year (EU-system), and i did see a female patient (maybe in her 50s), hypocalcemic with Trousseau's sign. it was cool though

Ca is needed in the depolarization of cardiac excitable tissues not repolarization
thank you for your knowledge contributing

Can you explain the mechanism by which hypocalcemia leads to neuronal hyperactivity during repolarization? Thank you so much

My calcium levels lowered during a VATS surgery. It came out negative for a Parathyroid adenoma. Prior to VATS surgery, I had high calcium levels. But then I was pronounced “cured” by endocrine doctor. He said I was biochemically cured. But he was wrong, no such thing. Why would a VATS surgery lower calcium levels when I had a adenoma transplanted I to my sternum before the VATS surgery. 7 years later I have bad osteoporosis. And it can’t be cured due to adenoma in my sternum.

The simple correction of calcium for albumin shown here has been repeatedly found to be poor in diagnosing an abnormal ionized calcium. A better diagnostic method exists. To see it, search the web with these terms: ionized calcium calculator; 704; qxmd
