- Probably the Most delicious borek recipe I tried so far! With different filling options; it will be your favorite snack or quick meal to have at home.
Ingredients For Turkish Rose Borek "Gül Böreği"
For the dough:
1/3 cup each plain yogurt, milk, vegetable oil, water
about 4 cups or more flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
For the layers:
2 heaped tbsp butter (about 60gr.)
4-5 tbsp vegetable oil
4-5 tbsp olive oil
For spinach filling:
1 big onion
4-5 tbsp mix of olive oil and vegetable oil
500gr. spinach
2 carrots
salt, red pepper flakes
(You can add crushed white cheese feta cheese while filling the borek)
For the minced meat filling
1 onion
4-5 tbsp mix of olive oil and vegetable oil
300gr. minced meat
salt, black pepper to taste

They look delicious but when you said rose I was looking for you to add rose water somewhere !
Perhaps you could do a sweet version with borek pastry but add rose flavour, vanilla and sugar with filling using chopped nuts, raisins and dried fig. For the raisin and figs soak them in boiling water for about 5 minutes until they soften and swell When you have filled and rolled them up into a rose shape then brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar - I think it would work !!

You’re welcome! Yes you are right I should mention it. You can keep in airtight container with lid in the fridge for about 4-5 days. Just reheat in a pan with lid, turn it ones to give extra crunchiness in both sides and it will be like out from the oven. Also if you want to freeze you can keep for at least 3 month. Sometimes I keep for more
Reheat frozen borek in a pan after it is thawed by itself or maybe in microwave but don’t fully heat up At microwave. It doesn’t get crunchy in the microwave oven

Also, you can reheat in Airfry or oven toaster if you are having one.

Merhaba Aysenur! These look so good. I’m not much of a baker and tend to shy away from anything with dough. I don’t have a stand electric mixer, only the hand mixer with two mixers attached. Could I use that with this dough. I just love the rolled shape. Reminds me of cinnamon rolls, but savory.
Hello Maggie, I am sorry I missed your question. You can get help with hand mixer to make the dough and finish kneading by hand or just knead by hand. I hpe you tried and enjoyed

All-purpose flour, I think. I'm also in 🇿🇦. We can always cheat with Phyllo pastry sheets, but I want to try to make these. good luck!

you put filling as you like .you can put cocoa in it but you need to sprinkle it with water or milk other vise it will be very dry..i prefer to use nutella or something similar :) but in the end everyone use what they like :) you can also use fruits too like apple etc.
