    The sofa in the kitchen and the table near the toilet 🫣.
    Wonderful!

    Kirstie is brilliant with her ideas and I agree a new bedroom was not what was needed "Now". They could always do the Loft transformation in 5-6 years time and have a huge Master suite and bathroom installed. That would make the house perfect.

    That’s a really nice spot. I wouldn’t move either. Two kids could share for crying out loud.

    I grew up in a house half that size. We managed… sort of… with the 7 of us… that said good luck to everyone who can afford to buy something where no one feels crushed in.

    I'd rather have a kitchen table in the center of the kitchen and another living space by the massive doors, but that's just me.

      Yes to this! I dislike the gaping kitchen layout, a table would be a perfect intermediary surface during preparation, and good to be close to the food and sink while eating with little kids

    • @Swakara1
      @Swakara1 2 роки тому +3

      I agree. Having the sitting space facing those sliding doors would be great; you can enjoy the view. It also gives a separate area to entertain guests and there is even enough space to add 1 or 2 armchairs as extra seating.

      I think the space isn't enough for 5 people to sit near the kitchen.

      I have only just seen this one, must have missed it when it was on the TV but although it's totally transformed a property that was disjointed the table would be so much better positioned in the kitchen and then the sunshine and light would be in the seating area.
      The other thing to consider is that with the settee being there the children will be too close to pots and pans and things that go burn in the night 😆 🤣
      I bet they have sold up and moved on now anyway so all hyperthetical

    After location, layout is one of the most important factors when buying a property. It’s extremely costly to change.

    • @patsysadowski1546
      @patsysadowski1546 Рік тому +1

      Yes but when done well it adds value and you recoup the expense in equity or resale. Historic properties had different priorities and lifestyles to accommodate. It is often inevitable if you want to grow in a property and don’t want to move. Which is also expensive.

    I don’t like the sofa in the position it is, you’d have to keep the kitchen immaculate for it not to feel like you are sitting in your breakfast/dinner dishes. Highly impractical.

    • @SuperCrazybumblebee
      @SuperCrazybumblebee 2 роки тому +3

      Not remotely impractical. In my country nearly all homes are open plan with kitchen, dining and lounge as one huge room. I would find separate pokey rooms claustrophobic.

    • @serenakoleno9338

      They are able to socialize while preparing meals and keep an eye on kiddos. They were already spending most of their time in the 2 rooms, now they can be more comfy. Formal living rooms are not how today's young families live. Parents often share meal prep.

    • @Vivienwestphal
      @Vivienwestphal 2 роки тому +1

      @@serenakoleno9338 sure, most people have a combined space for kitchen, dining and living room. However, I've never seen (and I hope i never will see) a sofa that's pointing directly at the stove. Looks awkward. Especially that their house is not a tiny city apartment with 40m2 and not much choice of where to put things.

    Oh yes, the classic older British house layout with the toilet just off the kitchen (before) and now just off the dining/sitting area. And probably costing like half a million. Got to love it. But it was an improvement.
    Also it's good form to date things, C4. Little note on description saying when it was broadcast, when the build was done.

      It's really good when they have little kids actually. The parents would be spending most of their time downstairs, cooking, cleaning, washing clothes, etc. While they would watch over their little kids taking bath without having to goes up and down stairs.
      They only goes upstairs when they sleep.

    Convert that loft into a parents bedroom (if you can afford to do it) and this frees up all three-bedrooms downstairs for the kids for now. Then redo the room open up downstairs. Then save up for the loft bedroom for the teenager daughter in a very few years.

      That is not a particularly big house and in the UK, kitchens are traditionally in an enclosed room at the back of the house. Some people build a back extension to house a much bigger kitchen with dining space. American style open plan is not really a thing.

You can’t just knock an inside wall down which affects the structure of your property & your neighbour without getting permission from the local council (government) and you will need to employ a surveyor. This affects your insurance as you have to inform your company of changes made to the property.
