Interesting and exciting way of fox hunting. We were several times in Finland visiting and hunting with our finnish friends, but I never saw a fox, but on the other hand a bear!! Excellent film comes across very evocative. Love the style of hunting that's how I perceive fox hunting far better than here in the UK with a pack of hounds chasing a fox followed by the idiots who have no conception of what's happening. But just pay and turn up to ride there horse on other people's land.

Sekä että, täällä etelässä on niin huonoja nuo talvet, että harvoin on sellasia kelejä et pääsee suoraan jälkeen päästämään. Tämä talvi oli ihan ok, mutta esim. viime talvena kun Kaapo oli pentu, oli lumikelipäivät yhden käden sormilla laskettavissa. Että kyllä siinä saa koira opetella hakemaan ihan itekkin. Ja menihän se tälläkin kaudella pitkälle joulukuuhun, ennen kuin lumet tuli.
Your videos are amazing.....I'm very intrigued by your hounds, would love a little history lesson on there breed name and origin! Here in America our hounds came from England and France, with selective breeding some have been bred to tree and bay game and others are still bred for just running.
This breed is named Finnish hound, and it is our native breed! It is breeded just for hunting. There is mainly two types of bloodlines; other lines are breeded for hare hunting and other lines for predators, mainly for fox. The breed has been developed in the 1800's by breeding other types of hounds together. In 2020 it placed 7th in the list of most popular dog breeds in Finland.
Mainly for fox, but used also for bear, wolfs, lynx and wildboar. I know that there is at least one Finnish Hound imported to usa, and they hunt bobcats and coyotes with it.

How do the foxes move through such vast forests , ? What I mean is do they just keep going straight for as long as they can put distance between them and the dog or do they not like going too far out their territory ? Tracking them for such long distances does this make it easier when they start to tire ? Interesting and high quality films as always 👍
Thank you!! Usually foxes start running around the edges of their own territory, in big rounds. Sometimes, especially if a male fox, they will go straight for as long ast they can. It depends on where the fox is from. The length of tracking won't matter, the only problem in long tracking is that you will have to wait.

This year I'm using Tungsten Super Shot 2.5mm on fox. So far it is very good.

Great footage of fox hunting. Why do you use 3.9 mm and 2.75 mm somewhere? It's amazing to shoot a fox over long distances with a 2.75 mm cartridge?
Thanks! Those 3.9mm cartridges are loaded with lead pellets, so they have to be with bigger size. 2.75mm pellets are made of tungsten, so it is very much heavier and more powerful so it is possible to shoot with it up to 100 meters.
@@NordicHunting Thanks for the explanation. I did a little research and found out what it is about. We still do not have such ammunition in Serbia and I see that it is expensive, we still use lead. For handcuffs from 3.9mm to 4.5mm, but we shoot at much smaller distances max 50 meters. In any case, excellent ammunition.

Yes, Tungsten is best ammo for fox hunting in my opinion. I use 2.75mm.

No esimerkiksi tätä videota kuvattiin elokuulta helmikuulle ja jälkikäsittelyyn menee... Noh, paljon aikaa. Kauden aikana jo lajittelen pätkiä sitä mukaa kun materiaalia kertyy ja itse editointiprosessiin menee riippuen videota muutamasta päivästä muutamaan viikkoon.

Är det tillåtet att jaga från bil i Finland?
Nej.
Men visst sägs det i filmen att han förflyttar sig med bil och kommer i skotthåll? eller vad är det jag misstolkar?
Menar du första räven som blev skjuten vid grytet? Man kan ju köra bilen närmare om avståndet mellan dig och räven är långt. Sedan parkerar man och går längre bort från bilen. I Finland ska avståndet mellan bilen och jägaren vara minst 150 meter.
I filmen mellan ca. 6-8 min står det tydligt på svenska hur han flyttat sig med i bil. Och filmen visar hur han skjuter räven, står också att hunden var en minut efter. Då handlar det inte om grytjakt, eller. Min åsikt är att det är förkastligt att använda bil under drevjakt oavsett djurart. Jakt på skadat vilt är en helt annan sak.
Det är inte förbjudet att flytta sig med bil när rävjakt är på gång... Rävjakt handlar inte om att stå på samma pass hela dagen. Har du aldrig varit med på rävjakt? I denna jakt var jag ensam med min hund. Jag bytte passplats ca. 3km efter att ha sett räven några gånger. Jag visste att räven skulle springa till det stora grytet. Därför beslöt jag mig för att flytta mig till närmaste vägen från grytet. Jag körde dit, gick cirka 200 meter från bilen och väntade i 5-10 minuter tills räven kom och då fick jag chansen att skjuta. Förstår du nu?

Why are you shooting foxes?
No. We hunt them because they do so much harm to other species, like deer calves and birds that nests on ground.
