One small change really can open an entire new world of creative possibilities. That is why I'll write songs till the day I fall over because few things in this world feel as good as discovering something new creatively 🤘

I remember when I first discovered drop D. I thought I had unlocked the secrets of the universe.

This video arrived at the same time for me and I think builds well on your recent tip to me in the comments of a prior video (thanks again). I play keys and Sequence MIDI in Ableton Live (was cool to see Scott's breakdown of '6 Minutes From The Radio' was also in Ableton Live). As it happens, Live 12 (currently in Beta Testing) adds new features that makes it easier to sequence in other tunings, so even though I'm no guitarist, I'll perhaps pick a tuning out of a hat or something and see what happens working in it! :D Great tip!

I couldn't agree more, i'm constantly using alternate tunings as standard can get a bit boring after a while. I like to use a Capo while in drop D and move things about a bit as you can get some really interesting sounds. I've also been playing around in open C (I think? C G C E G C) after learning some Elliott Smith songs and it sounds amazing.
Edit: Also got myself a Baritone Acoustic and a 12 String Acoustic which help vary things up, have messed around with tunings on them and it's possible to come up with some really interesting stuff.

I love that Divine song and have been playing it on one of my guitars set up just for that alternative tuning. The problem is that the low string often drops out of tune, even after swapping it for thicker gauge. I agree that lower tunings are rad. Somewhere in the distance a voice is whispering "baritone ... just one more guitar...." Thx for the post.

Haha, "One more guitar..... It's okayyyyyy". Yeah that's a problem you'll run into if playing with such a low tuning. Happy you learned Divine Hey-Jax :)
