Givēon's last two years are a lot like the early-00s Lakers: wins after wins after wins. First was that feature on Drake’s “Chicago Freestyle.” Then he dropped his ‘Take Time’ and ‘When It’s All Said and Done’ EPs, collectively clocking a 100 million streams. That was enough to earn him a Vevo DSCVR Artists To Watch 2021 invite. Next, “Heartbreak Anniversary” topped the R&B charts. If you didn’t know him by then, his feature on Biebs' “Peaches” did the trick - to the tune of more than a billion streams. Now the 27-year-old is our latest LIFT artist. Last month we linked up with the baritone singer just a few LA freeway exits north of his Long Beach hometown. Together we shot a couple incredible performances of tracks from his ‘Give or Take’ album, which arrived to cheers today. Following “Lie Again” and “For Tonight,” “Make You Mine” closes out things. I love the fact he makes talk music and he doesn't have any explicit stuff like girls twerking and stuff. He makes music calm and pure. Every song he ever made was lovely.
