I'd just like to corroborate something Greg said about "who sees what deity when they pass on". I haven't had an NDE but had a profound experience when my father died back in 1985. My family is Catholic, but I've been following Sri Aurobindo and the Mother since 1983. During the Catholic funeral service, the priest was preparing the Eucharist, and suddenly my father was standing at the altar with the Mother next to him. He looked young and healthy like he did in his 30's. The priest kept walking through them as he did his preparations. I was seeing things and kept rubbing my eyes and looking again, expecting them to not be there - but they were. Mother looked over at me and winked. I heard a voice in my head saying, "You see me as the Mother, your father sees me as the Virgin Mary. People will see the Divine in a form they are familiar and comfortable with." When the service ended, they were gone. I believe that what I experienced was real and true. What she said just made so much sense to me as that's something that a God of Love would do! Love your podcast Alex. You and your guests bring a great service to humanity. Thank you.

What is Sri Aurobindo and the Mother?

    • @dianaskrutskie7314
      @dianaskrutskie7314 Рік тому

@@rose5566 Sri Aurobindo born in Calcutta on Aug 15, 1872 was a yogi, seer, philosopher, poet, and Indian nationalist. He initially, followed the path of Indian spirituality - the paths of divine communion and spiritual realization but he didn’t stop there. He had the realization of Cosmic Consciousness that never left him, but felt there was a consciousness beyond that. He felt that this life wasn’t an illusion, and there was a way to unite Spirit and Matter. "Most ways of Yoga are paths to the Beyond leading to the Spirit and, in the end, away from life; Sri Aurobindo's rises to the Spirit to re-descend with its gains bringing the light and power and bliss of the Spirit into life to transform it. The created world is not a mistake, or a vanity and illusion to be cast aside by the soul returning to heaven or Nirvana, but the scene of a spiritual evolution by which out of this material inconscience is to be manifested progressively the Divine Consciousness in things.” He called this Divine Consciousness the Supramental or Supermind. The central theme of his vision was the evolution of human life into a divine life in divine body. He believed in a spiritual realization that not only liberated, but transformed human nature, enabling a divine life on earth. In 1926, with the help of his spiritual collaborator, Mirra Alfassa (referred to as "The Mother"), Sri Aurobindo Ashram was founded.”
His main literary works are The Life Divine, which deals with the philosophical aspect of Integral Yoga; Synthesis of Yoga, which deals with the principles and methods of Integral Yoga and Savitri: A Legend and a Symbol, an epic poem.

Iam a Hindu from India and in our culture we always believe that spiritual leaders, gurus or dead relatives appear in a dying person's vision. Thats when we know that their time has come. My father had a vision of our family guru and my late grandmother 3 days before he actually died. And he also predicted the time of his death. My mother saw my late father at the doorway a week before she passed. So i was prepared mentally for the cross over to happen any day since then. We also have numerous instances of reincarnation in our culture which have been verified to the minutest details.
Also regarding enlightened yogis and masters when they transition we don't refer to the person as dead. We say he/she left the body. Meaning the soul, which is the real essence has left the body and ascended to the higher realms of the universe. This is common knowledge to educated uneducated alike from times immemorial.

The experiences you described are globally acknowledged in the medical world. Called ELE (End of Life Experiences), the vivid dreams or waking visions of deceased loved ones, occurs in about 40% of people who are weeks to months from passing away. These phenomena are most common among those who have reached their eighth decade. Seemingly, as the physical body deteriorates, the spiritual self grows. My own family member is dying of cancer, and going through this process now, age 85. She finds comfort in it.

In this age of the devaluing of academia, scholarship and expertise,I for one highly value your great endeavors. Just in the past year,my perspective has changed profoundly after 4 decades of being Agnostic about an afterlife. I've shocked myself with how much the NDE community has compelled me to rethink everything. I've had a long passion for the human need for faith in all cultures, and this is dead center up my alley.🕯️

With regards to the part where you discuss reincarnation, I would definitely check out interviews with Ainslie Macleod, he explains about the soul and it’s past lives - maybe have him on your show. Love Love Love these podcasts! Just wanted to add a note of a personal experience. Although I grew up in America in a small city in RI, with no knowledge or experience of India, I had a vision of Ganesha! When I was 39 years old I intuitively knew I was going to go to India though I had no money, and no previous desire to go there. Within a couple of weeks, I met a German citizen who invited me to go to India to study Indian classical music in Varanasi. (6 months India, 6 months Germany/Spain for three years) After my first year, I discovered I was pregnant for my daughter, Amala atc40 years old! I went back to Nantucket Island to give birth so she could have American citizenship before returning to Varanasi, India. During my pregnancy I had an incredibly beautiful vision of Ganesha the monkey God in Hindu theology. He was radiant, looked somewhat like an upright Orangutan. The hair all over his body was golden giving off rays of intense golden light. This was one of three visions I had during the pregnancy and her firsts three months. We used to end our studies every year in Varanasi by going to McLead Ganj above Dharamsala, where the Tibetans relocated when they fled Tibet. I used to meditate there in the Dalai Lama's temple. I had an experience there with a hillside of monkeys and another one with a single monkey in Varanasi. I have no idea what seeing Ganesha means. This was one of a lifetime of odd unpredictable visions that sprinkled my life from early childhood. I never mentioned them out of fear I would be labeled crazy. I was raised as a roman Catholic. I am 75 now. Last year, I moved from Connecticut to Washington state to live with my sister and write my life story after living in a homeless shelter in Connecticut last year. I drove 4000 miles alone following intuition, arriving here a few months ago and when I arrived , 25 years of unedited poetry and prose was stolen from my car. Recently I had a brain aneurysm and spent a month in a coma. My daughter, now 35 and living in Florida, sat by my bed praying to my guru for a sign I would survive. I opened my eyes. My short term memory functionality was temporarily weakened but I gained clarity on long term memories. Thank you and all your guests. I feel like I am less isolated in the reality of my strange inner life! 🎉

I found my second NDE was terrifying. But it actually purged me of grief. I was inside a ball of light and just cried and cried. I heard my own voice as a child looking for mother and father. I was a scared little child. I felt I'd be in that place crying forever. When I came back, I realised I have to release my fear of loss and my profound grief I was holding onto . So yeah not all NDEs are easy. Or peaceful.oh and there was a cord a golden/or silver cord and i pulled it and there was a pop and I came back.

Fantastic interview. Greg really confirms with his research some of the theories I've had about why NDE experiences are similar but different. The idea that they are designed to comfort the soul makes a lot of sense. One such experience I'm familiar with involved an interview done regarding the NDE of an indigenous person from an Amazon tribe. Their NDE involved going into the after life in a canoe going up a river through what was effectively a tunnel of trees.

Indeed, it is often thought that all NDE's should be identical. but remember that NDE's can be something like a 'bridge' between on one type of consciousness to another.
We all take our physical (earthly/ learning) experiences with us on our journeys back to the creator. This of course allows/creates the value of all life experiences, no matter what they are.

    Side note:
Growing up as a Hindu, my grand parents and parents would narrate the tale of ‘Nachiketa’ - the 5 year old boy who quizzed the Lord of death and righteousness-Yama about the immortality and ‘divine nature’ of the human ‘soul’ or Atman. It’s from the katha-Upanishad also known as kathopanishad. Katha means story:)
Then there is a famous story of Ajamila- from the Bagavatham which talks about what happens to a ‘not so noble’ soul after death and the power of the ‘Lord’s name’ esp at the time of death ……so so many stories all telling the same thing that human soul is immortal, is same as god’s and one’s thoughts actions deeds have effect on the afterlife - to say the least:)
51:07: absolutely true. No castes or any social hierarchy/structures in the Vedas and Upanishads. Nothing misogynistic or anti-LGBTQIA either. Vedas do recognize 3 genders- male, female and neutral. They talk about Self realization and God realization (as Self) mainly amongst other things ❤️

First of all, thank you for this wonderful interview. My understanding of a person’s experience after leaving the body is that he or she will see in the other side a protection of his or her own mind. This is the reason why Christians see Jesus, Buddhists see Buddha etc. or simply an already dead loved one, or nobody in particular known to them, but gardens and loving beings. Also a person fearing to go to hell will project that experience.

This is real. Leaving your body, seeing yourself from a place outside of yourself, traveling with that body, but separated , is proof of a soul or whatever it is named by others. We are unable to see things from a birdseye view or travel to distant locations and come back with that knowledge without that separation being true. That is the proof. We can astral-project, at will, once you know how...just think it, usually in a relaxed state. But it is less of a religious experience I think. More of a journey or vacation of exploration. So interesting hearing other cultures experiences. Thank you.

I saw 2 day ago a priest on yt, who talked about NDEs and his stories (selected by him) was about hell, sins, dark powers and Jesus who told to beg for forgiveness, because if not your sins will not be forgiven and you will be dropped to hell. I was like "that's bullshit, I see what you trying to do, Church logic all the way". Also that reincarnation isn't real and we need pray to Jesus and Saints to save us. I wanted to tell you about this and confront this with your knowledge. And guess what.. This answer was given to me when your guest start talking about hell. That's exacly what i wanted to hear!

    Our thoughts create our reality.

  • @NSAKEY
    @NSAKEY Рік тому +15

NDE's vary across cultures and religions because much of what we experience is a manifestation of our thoughts and/or expectations at that time. Sometimes, our guides will appear a certain way to us or present things in such a relatable way that will be more comfortable for us, but much of the variable experiences are our own making.
When we are still tethered to the body, in the in-between, experiences can vary greatly. Only once you actually cross over, would you start to see similar experiences and correlations, but much of that usually has to be recalled through regression therapy and deep-trance hypnosis or some other method.
Likely, even parts of the NDE may be past memories from being in the spirit realm, prior to our most recent life, hence why some remember having a life review, even though that does not usually take place until after you have crossed over.
Much of the NDE experience may not even be remembered well because once you return to body, the veil of amnesia that is the body, may block much of experience. The amount that people may remember may vary. After you have crossed over (and possibly even before then), you will start to remember everything, including your past lives and your experiences in the spirit realm.
Varying sources offer correlations regarding what our existence is like in the spirit realm. Much of our time there is spent learning and preparing for the next incarnation with our soul groups. The purpose of Earth life is not only a school for learning through experience, but for spiritual evolution and growth.
Everything is energy and is connected. Everything has consciousness. We are tiny sparks that came from source. It is a part of us and we are a part of it; everything is one and our existence is eternal.

My mom and dd lost their son that was born four years before me, and I being now the eldest, and they did not have a child for five years and then mom finally was pregnant. But around the 8th month she told the doctor something was wrong, but he said " The baby will come when ready and he/she, is doing fine (this would have been 76 yrs ago and they did not have ultrasound etc at that time. So it ended up the baby did not move and at ten months finally they knew they needed to do something and so, my mom was helped to have my brother, but he died, as the 'naval chord was wrapped around his neck.' and so, my dad arranged the funeral alone, my brother at birth weighed 7lbs and several inches( not sure the exact amount) and my mom was in a coma.
The doctor said : If your wife does not pull through soon you will need to arrange another funeral"
So many years after, when my mom talked about this incident, and really told it to people many times and this was way before you heard about NDE hardly at all and she told that this happened while she was in the coma.
My mom was very quickly swirling, and swirling, and she kept heating over and over this deep voice saying " Thy Kingdom come, Thy Kingdom Come" Over and over and over again, as she whirled in the air. Then she saw a light, and it got brighter and brighter. Then all at once she started' whirling backward 'very fast, and she kept swirling and then she ended up back in her body.
She heard the doctor say:" If your wife does not pull through soon, you will have another funeral to have to handle"
She did get through it and lived. And four year later I was born. They almost lost me, and I weighed only 6 Lbs and 12 oz and in a few months had pneumonia. But did get through it. Three yeas later my brother came along, and he weight over 8 lbs.
Can truly understand what Greg Shushan Ph.D. Is saying. This was a wonderful research, that he has done on all of this. So many of us do wonder, as we do feel something is truly going on, but we want to try to know more on it. Thank you so much for bringing us so many enlightening topics!.

My atheist father had 2 vivid dreams about my mother after she passed. She was younger in both and he said they were very real feeling, like he was with her. But just before he passed he actually was awake walking through to the bathroom and saw my mother, as mist-like, hovering in the dining room. He passed a week or two later. I know I felt, gee dad, a professed atheist actually was visited. But I have never had a visit. Not sure many know this but the recovery process in AA has a belief in developing a psychic experience related to surrendering to a higher power which was derived from Dr Jung. Total surrender is quite difficult for ppl considering it is giving up control.

Maybe it depends on the age of our soul if you have a life review or not. For instance, if you are an infant soul, you focus on survival in a less developed area and have less of a life plan and thus don’t need the life review. However the remaining soul ages may need them. I’m referring to the Michael Teachings soul ages.

Excellent discussion. Thank you for mentioning Wovoka. As Chief Seattle stated, death is only a transition..from one state to another. I disagree on one point. There is no judgement, except by the individual. Being in a less civilized (industrial society) is a huge challenge for a soul, but the final analysis is still based in love and yes, even that of community. Can you still love community (neighbor as yourself?) Can you find compassion within such diversity? Can one find self love and compassion after being so distracted? What was learned?BTW, it is very hard for some NDErs to adjust, because it is incredible in the Beyond. We all heart-tug for home, we all feel something is missing, but we know it is for a reason.

The essential factor in all NDE experiences, is the continuation of consciousness following the death of the body.
Clearly, the initial form of consciousness can be influenced by a 'carrying over' of the culture or mores of one's own particular society. This of course changes as one spiritually moves past the familiar aspects of recent conscious (physical) limitations.
We all experience human life in a multitude of different ways and "shedding" these life experiences may or may not be instantaneous following death of the physical body.

And the same goes for the many, many Sikh martyrs - the incredibly true and brave men and women who gave their lives in the battle against tyranny and opression and for love, equality and justice for all mankind - they also relatively frequently appear in front of various Sikhs whilst still alive.

Thanks for the video! While I agree that the NDEs "illustrated" experiences probably have a cultural aspect as influence. I believe statements of meeting Jesus, Saints and even God are just interpretations of the event by the person going through it. If you believe in Jesus and in your experience you meet an entity that aligns w/ the image you have of him, you may come back and state you met Jesus. I do not take those statements as lies but as simple personal interpretations. When we listen to NDE stories we better focus on the overall message of the experience and less on the interpretations some give about them. That is my own view of course. I respect all who have such strong experiences and the ones who research and try to share all.
