I mean it makes sense. If you’re watching subbed anime, the voice actors used even for characters who are speaking English are still Japanese, accents and all. So of course they’d sound similar to a Japanese person speaking English- that’s what they are, lol.

But you'd think the several millions of dollars that go into one anime, and that's a conservative estimate, would be able to hire an actual japanese person who's fluent in english or an American immigrant. Most of the time they are side characters anyway, and japanese people really won't notice much error because they don't know what Americans are supposed to sound like(for the most part). If you're going out of your way to include an American character, 9 times out of ten it isn't even necassary, at least do it right.

@@JJ-ml7pq but America is a big market for anime nowadays. The population itself is much bigger, and while we don't often buy lightnovels, we buy manga. Most american characters in anime just make me cringe and want to skip that whole scene.
