Possibly the best and most iconic goal in FA cup history and really what the FA Cup is, was and always will be about. RIP Ronnie and thanks for such a wonderful and treasured football memory.
@@mrmeeseeks2534 Great goal!! But look at this goal in the context of league position, and expectations, as well as the actual strike! And of course, the crowd reaction due to them not having a chance on paper ..
i can remember watching this match as if it was yesterday, and i must have watched this goal 100s of times over the years, but even today when i watch it the hairs on the back of my neck stick up still, by far the greatest goal in fa cup history, and one the greatest goals ever scored in the world.
If you were an author and were to write a fictional, romanticised sequence of events to showcase the passion, unpredictability and beauty of football this would be it. No non league team had beaten a top flight team in England since 1949. On a muddy , battered Edgar Street pitch Ronnie unleashed one of the greatest strikes in football history sparking a pitch invasion from the Hereford supporters who surely were expecting to be turned over by the mighty Newcastle Utd. Non league Hereford win the game in extra time and Ronnies rocket is still spoken about half a century later. RIP Ronnie , you brought joy to people.
Since that a goal and that match I've always looked out for Hereford United score. Even managed to get to Edgar Street, just to stand outside. I watch that goal every now and then with great pleasure and a smile. Today it was with sadness . Thank you for that moment in time .Rest in peace Ronnie. You will be forever a legend not just at Hereford United but with football supporters
Absolute Blinder of a goal by Ronnie Radford. I must have seen this over 100 times now & I still burst out laughing with joy when he scores the screamer and goes off on that run. Probably one of the best ever goals in British Football. Memorable.
Pleased to say I was there, in the main stand, and at Newcastle for the first game, followed the whole cup run, kings lynn, Northampton, Newcastle and West Ham. Great days
Such an amazing goal. I remember seeing this when I was a kid in Shrewsbury. Ronnie seems like a very nice guy too - the end of this video is very touching.
Thanks to the slightly less than perfect playing surface the ball sets up perfectly to get the toe under and almost volley the shot. Such a fabulous goal.
There’s few moments in football that you can watch over and over again and feel the same d you did the first time you saw it This is one God bless the fa cup!
RIP Ronnie Radford. One of the greatest & iconic goals in FA Cup history. “It could have gone in the car park……..but it didn’t.” There should be a statue of him in Hereford.
It's why I love the FA Cup. Teams get a rare chance to play against top opposition and sometimes an unknown becomes a hero like Ronnie Radford did here. It's great to see dreams come true. I went to a number of Lincoln games that season when they made the quarter finals as a non league side and beat Burnley away. Both Lincoln and Sutton played Arsenal that season. Players from both teams will never forget that and heroes were made like when Sean Raggett netted Lincolns winner at Burnley.
And my bloody great blessings to you Ronnie Radford. Hope it’s great where you are now. You scored one of the most iconic FA cup goals ever seen. You will never be forgotten. From a Newcastle Utd Geordie.
R.I.P Ronnie Radford. When football was a working man's game, with working man's aggression. Encapsulated at 0:29. Defender & forward elbowing each other. Happened today, they'd both be rolling on the grass holding their faces
I remember watching it on match of the day, as a neutral supporter but biased to the underdog ''what a rocket of a shot''. Definitely my favourite goal.
Look at the way the ball comes back and he's going to leave it for his own player, but then realizes he's not going to get it. He dives in the tackle fairly to win the ball off Tudor and plays a great one two. Great football even before the shot.
I was a kid back then saw that goal live on the telly. Malcolm McDonald big time charlie, England international thought he and Newcastle would just turn up and walk on that pitch but it was a quagmire and a great leveller. That performance and the goal lit up a typical English grey and miserable day. A non league team beating some seasoned professionals.
You only have to say the name 'Ronnie Radford' close your eyes and you see the ball going like a rocket into the Newcastle net. An iconic goal for sure. RIP Ronnie.
That was a beauty of a strike, in those conditions as well. I remember those green parkas, red lining with a fur trimmed hood. Snorkels were later, with an orange lining.
@@geoffpoole483 They also did black, green, and I'm not 100%, but they might have done a brown one as well. I remember the early parkas early to mid 70s, had that grey rabbit fur around the hood, if it got wet it stank.
Good job the referee never blew for a foul when ronnie won the ball in midfield or this piece of iconic fa Cup history would never have happened, rip ronnie ,legend
never seen a better fa cup goal besides terry McDermott for Liverpool against Spurs at white hart lane FA cup radford may edge it coz it was motty commentary and hundred of green Parker’s coats that swayed it RIP Ronnie and MOTTY lfc fan
A truley great goal by Ronnie Radford , in the days when the FA Cup still had it's romance and the chance that a lower league club could beat one of the so called bigger teams . But on the down side it unfortunatley launched a 40 year carerer of that buffon John Motson with his stupid laugh and his "I don't believe this" catchphrase
Possibly the best and most iconic goal in FA cup history and really what the FA Cup is, was and always will be about. RIP Ronnie and thanks for such a wonderful and treasured football memory.
One of the greatest football moments ever. That one moment wrote him into folklore. Thanks Ronnie. Rest in Peace.
Not possibly, the greatest goal and moment in the fa cups history by miles.
Playing in a quagmire of a pitch and still the greatest goal I’ve ever seen.
The greatest goal of all time. And Ronnie seems like the greatest guy of all time. I want a pint with this guy.

Treasured moment. RIP Ronnie Radford and John Motson. Two legends of the game.
Here after John Motson passed away today and hadn't seen news of Ronnie's passing til now. RIP to you both.
RIP Ronnie Radford, what a goal. I was up the meadow end that day a 16 year old lad, never forget that goal and the celebrations after.
