I was a young teenager when I listened to Katie's interpretation of Moon River, and I thought she is Georgian like me, she is in love with writing and singing like me, maybe I should try going after my dream to sing and write too. Especially because this song was such a soothing song during my difficult and painful childhood, and to hear it from her. Unfortunately life was always hard on me and I kept putting the dream to sing and write on a lower bookshelf. Anytime I hear this it brings back so many hopes and dreams I once had. Thank you Keti for always touching us with your nostalgic, soothing voice. So happy I met you and saw you a couple of years ago in Tbilisi. 🇬🇪🌹
Same with me! 💗 I'm not Georgian, but, whenever I listen to this song, it reminds me of who I was 8 years ago and what struggles I was experiencing at that time, which dreams I was dreaming. I was trying to figure out who I was, what my purpose in life should be, who I strived to be, where my place in the world would be, where I belonged and how I wanted to live my life... Katie's music struck a chord with me, I admired her for her authenticity, sensitivity and courage. I spent hours listening to her music and attempting to grasp the meaning of the lyrics. 😊 Especially this song was sort of 'magical' because I didn't quite understand the meaning of the words, I assumed it had some deeper "mystical" meaning (because I was into mysticism) and tried to figure out what "the moon" and "the river" represented, and who that strange "Huckleberry" was! 🙈 I guess the song itself is really not as deep as I was hoping... Today I realize it's quite straightforward. It's simply about an adventurous life and companionship, I guess... Today it just represents something for me that's connected to my own past and former self! And my positive attitude towards life at that time, I felt truly alive and lived in alignment with my purpose, I was slowly becoming aware of myself... The song is a reminder not to forget who I am, what my values are and what's true to me, and to cherish beauty and never give up hope! Katie and Georgians will always have a special place in my heart. Because of sweet Katie I love ALL the beautiful Georgians! ❤ I hope one day you can live according to your purpose and create music, despite all the hardships. :) By the way, I also went to one of her concerts in Germany!
It's not her song it was written by Henry Mancini and the lyrics by Johnny Mercer for the film Breakfast At Tiffany's (1961). Andy Williams originally sang it. The best version by far is by Danny Williams. This was my late Mother & Fathers song I still find it hard to listen to the song. It was played at my Fathers funeral 8 years ago.
Incredible that this song is GOOD from Katie Melua, from Elton John or Barbra Streisand, everyone (who can sing) and in every style! It cannot made wrong, this is impossible because it is a masterpiece! :)
Lyrics : Moon river Wider than a mile I'm crossing you In style some day Oh, dream maker You heart breaker Wherever you're goin' I'm goin' your way Two drifters Off to see the world There's such A lot of world to see We're after The same rainbow's end Waitin' 'round the bend My huckleberry friend Moon river And me Moon river Wider than a mile I'm crossin' you In style some day Oh, dream maker You heart breaker Wherever you're goin' I'm goin' your way Two drifters Off to see the world There's such A lot of world to see We're after That same rainbow's end Waitin' 'round the bend My huckleberry friend Moon river And me
@xdopeyxsonx Me too...it's one of those songs that evoke a special feeling although one cannot say for sure why. Yearning for seeing the world, melancholy at the same time, just poetic... ♥
@vwchaefer87 why be sorry when you're wrong...you're probably aware that music is subjective so how can you throw out a blanket statement like that, this happens to be one of my favorite versions however I don't care for her original material -of course I'd never say anything negative about her originals because its obvious there are lots who love them
This song for me is a shit.. Audrey had to glorify it as now do Katie for many songs she performes. In this case, she only performs partiture, arrangement song (yes, as rythmic) is not very excellent. As great artist, Katie likes player songs of/with other famouse artists.., ok, but a really unique angel voise star as she do, she can't change and dirty herself with any else.. Only for her professional tutorial i can understand and apolize about.

Lyrics :
Moon river
Wider than a mile
I'm crossing you
In style some day
Oh, dream maker
You heart breaker
Wherever you're goin'
I'm goin' your way
Two drifters
Off to see the world
There's such
A lot of world to see
We're after
The same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river
And me
Moon river
Wider than a mile
I'm crossin' you
In style some day
Oh, dream maker
You heart breaker
Wherever you're goin'
I'm goin' your way
Two drifters
Off to see the world
There's such
A lot of world to see
We're after
That same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river
And me
Beautiful voice

if they are good ones they are funny, if not they are boring, thats as simple as it is
This is a standard and had many interactions.

Awfully off-key. Dismal effort.
