Considering that the Vega started to burn oil at 20K and rusted on the showroom floor, and the Pinto blew up,this was the best American small car of the 70’s.
I love the Gremlin, but you're over blowing! hahaha the Pinto issue. They sold almost 3 million Pintos, 27 accidents with the fuel tank.....proportionately, I think it's a bit ridiculous.....the problem was they knew the problem and didn't fix it...which is a moral or ethics issue, not an issue with the car.
@@OsbornTramain Yep. Nothing wrong with the Pinto. It was no more or less susceptible to full tank explosions/fires than other small cars of the time. Lawyers just had a field day at Ford's expense with The Memo.
My first car was a 74 ,258 ci, automatic. My second was a 72 Javelin, 304 ci V8. My 3rd was a 68 AMX, modded to a 343 ci w/manual trans... 4th was 88 Isuzu pickup🙄
GM and Fords looked bad, Chrysler and AMC which used unit body construction was able to do a better job styling wise on their existing cars that had to be retrofitted. The larger bumpers on the Gremlin aren't as nice as the narrow bumpers, but they aren't awful or shocking looking like the Ford Pinto or Ford Galaxie
I love the paintjob on that Gremlin.

Car commercials were so much better back then.
I had a 1973 Gremlin X, Levi's Edition in 1977. Last one I saw for sale was $25,000.
Great commercial!
I had that identical Gremlin. 258, auto, A/c that worked great.
Nice Commercial for the 1973 AMC Gremlin, That's Super Perfect!
This is the Seinfeld bit! George is about to parallel park and someone else steals by pulling straight in.
I've got a 73 gremlin just base trim though sand color This red gremlin X looks great with the colors and luggage rack!
This commercial foresaw "road rage" long before anyone even used that expression.

What a beautiful car i wish AMC company made an electric gremlin in this era
And both drivers were wearing shoulder belts!
Future step-siblings: the Gremlin, and a 1972 Dodge Polara.
I've owned four cars in my lifetime. The last three were Cadillacs. The first...a Gremlin. 😏
Who voiced these commercials?
It sounds like the guy from the Wendy's commercials, but I can't find it online.
Seinfeld moment
Last year of the narrow bumpers. In 1974 the government mandated big squared off ugly bumpers that ruined the looks of most cars.
