Similar, but I think you are thinking of Art of the Fugue.

I love this fugue, definitely my favorite of them all. The main subject sounds of so little, wondering what even is possible to do with it. When the second subject enters it takes the attention. Even though it is used in a way a theme would be used in a fugue I don't necessarily hear it as auch, as it quickly becomes the moving motor of the piece. Now the real star is the repeated notes which take up so much space, rowed so frequently. I have the vision of a mosaic with different tiles lightening up when ever the third subject plays. Wonderful fugue though and through.
