That's why never fill college form on basis of clearing the cutoffs. Check your chances of getting PI calss, and conversion with past year RTI data. Otherwise in form filling around 50K would be spent, if one goes on filling each and every college forms.

Teachers know the requirement of students as well as what exam demands. You can trust them. But the point of above comment is that the admission process for IIMs are discriminatory for General Engineer Male candidates, even after getting high percentile a call is not guaranteed due to various criteria.
