Glad I found your channel. Certainly enjoying it. I think I've watched most all the sculling videos. It brings back a lot of memories. Pleas allow me to make a comment on the rigging of your single. Not as tall as you but was 6'6" myself. The angle at the catch and release looks a little extreme. I know its tough to set up a sculling boat for tall rowers when there are limitations on riggers and oars. I'm sure you have access to the latest information available. Keep up the great work, Paul Enquist, Gold Medal Men's Double, 1984 Olympics
Hello! Glad I could help bring back the memories. We are looking at the angles now actually. Might be the camera exaggerating since it's wide angle but will be able to confirm soon!
lovely as always cam. thanks for being such an awesome figure in the community, love the energy looking forward to seeing you in team GB soon God bless
Wow! What an amazing experience. The location, the conditions and to train with Sinkovic brothers to see how they do it. Fantastic opportunity. I have to say hearing your boat sizzling through the water (27mins in) was satisfying to listen to. Keep up the good work #yamsquad
What a great video and opportunity. The Croatians certainly made you feel at home - nice bunch of guys with some serious power and snap. Enjoying the rowing nomad/vanlife parts too!
Terrific video, thanks. What an amazing opportunity to row and train with those world class athletes, pushing you hard and helping you along the way. I find the same as you mentioned, that I learn an awful lot from training alongside people that are more experienced/better than me. What a lovely bunch of guys. Safe travels.👍
Great to see you so motivated with the three days of alternative training in Croatia - those two are absolute animals in a boat! Really keen to see where this takes your rowing now 😎 (don’t forget the invaluable advice given on the bike ride😆)
BROOOOOOOOO...YOU TRAINED WITH VALENT SINKOVIC! Holy f--k! I didn't think you could top the regatta against Ntouskos in Italy...and then you dropped this bomb. LEGEND status CONFIRMED. Yamsquad European Tour 2022 is shaping up to be absolutely epic. Are Martin or Damir gonna show up in future vids?
Let's gooooooo Martin was around training, unfortunately didn't capture him! 😂 Next video I think he makes an appearance! Damir was around but not training I our group though. 😢
I did my first race in a single and capsized and from everyone I talk to about it their first race has all been some sort of disaster story. How did your first race go?
I always love your videos man this reminds me my cousin won gold in the 2012 Olympic rowing doubles so she’s the reason I inspire to do my very best and I think everyone who takes on rowing or anything els should try there best
I'd love to see a video on you talking about your first time in a single, what your experience was like and any tips you have for other people starting to get into them (such as myself)
Hi Cam, great content as usual! Just making sure you're aware, but during some of the title/scene changes you can hear the audio of your bloopers before the actual footage (if that makes sense). If you were aware, disregard my comment and keep up the good work!!
As I were cycling through New Zealand I had the difficulty, to hit the the propper lane with my bike (left hand traffic), as I were living at that time in switzerland (right hand traffic). You are probably happy to had some guys who knowed, where the correct site to cycle is ;) 😂😉👍
Hey Cam, Two Questions: -Do the Croatian coaches help you improve your technique? -What is your main source of income? This seems like such a fun journey! Anyway, again, amazing vlog! I met James Robson and Ed Grisedale this weekend at Ghent International May Regatta, even took a picture, told 'em I know them from your vlogs! Cheers
Hello! Yes robson and Ed said they met you! The coaches did help me out. Asking about someone's income I'd say is pretty personal but I'm OK to share. I have a combinitation of a few different incomes, including the youtube adrevenue, writing programs for yamsqaud athletes and other freelance jobs
@@CameronBuchan yes I am sorry for the bold question, but I think this is very inspiring for younger athletes, hence the practical question. My apologies!
not sure if you're into this sort of thing, but if you need a podcast for your road trips, I love Dan Carlin's hardcore history. They're long episodes. Anyway, love the videos!
Rowing with others would be great for motivation. I find it tough at times training on water in the single, as the others at our small club just row to a island and back once, about 4-5km and in doubles or quads but are a bit slower. Would be nice if others were also keen to row further and had similar or better pace.
Hi Cam! I’ve been wondering if you think you will single/scull for the rest of your rowing career or if you’re planning on going back to sweeping and maybe even Leander in some years from now. Or even sculling at Leander. Thanks, entertaining video as always.
I like the towel resistance session! Change the load without fiddling with the rig, will have to try that. Was Ivan a bit quicker because he has a bigger engine, or because he was sculling differently?
@@DrPTAndroidStuff we spent a lot of time talking about the technique that they are aiming for and differences between that and mine. Super interesting and great of the guys to give me their time
Also as a side note I think I noticed you have a very slight left knee deviation in your power strokes. I think you could consider doing a power peak in your off season and lift heavy, heavy squats for 5-12 then maaaybe 3s but that has higher injury risk. Then work back up to 10-20 rep sets during race season and be able to put your max squat into your rowing boat as efficiently as possible. One more critique (and yes I am hypocrite and don't what I'm talking about etc etc) but you and alot of the other pros I see have slightly bent arms on strokes which I thiiiink is losing your power too but so many do it I'm not sure why that is. Maybe someone smarter knows
Indeed there is! Been working on that actually and I think I know what it is! 🤞 Power isn't really something I need to work on specifically. But that definitely would increase my power! Thanks for the feedback!
Down to earth approach: everybody training, waiting their turn, and open to share what they know. Thanks to the Croatians for sharing thru you.

Definitely something that will stick with me. I was going to put music over the water section but I liked the sound of the water too much!

thanks for taking us along, great stuff!
The Croatian team look insanely tough. I can only imagine how hard they must train
Great vid Cam. So awesome to train with some living legends of our sport. Great to see you laying down some full yam on fast, flat water
Such an Great opportunity! Thanks for watching!

The blades sounded so much better coming out of the water. You can hear your finishes are stronger during these sessions than before.

Great video and extremely motivational. Such great energy.
Good video. Could you show us how towels are used for resistance?
I meant to go back and edit that in! Unfortunately didn't. Hopefully an another video. Although I do show things like that on my Instagram

Great video yet again Cam. It'll be interesting too see if you will endorse the Croatian way of training. Stay safe.

I'll have a listen! I was listening to diary of a ceo. Easy to get lost in a good podcast!
So cool that you got to train with the Sinkovic brothers! Amazing opportunity
For sure! Really enjoyed it!
A great place to row , was there in 2000. Did you run into Marko ?
Good video but the yamborghini name to be determined is wearing a bit thin
But that's the name of the boat

I'd say much better technically. I am significantly "faster" on the erg for 2k
Well that's encouraging. You must have some good footage of him along side, could try doing what he does and see if it helps your own sculling.

Hey, Cam,. Was Damir training there also?
Indeed he was but they don't all train together
Could you make a video about a training program for teenage rowers
gonna end up in Munich - juniors regatta
Remember food is fuel- Cameron Buchan
In which races will you compete?
Good stuff!
Awesome!

What do you listen to when you’re on those long journeys?
I was listening to a combination of the diary of a ceo podcast, music and chatting to my girlfriend on this trip
How much was he faster ?
Sinkovic brothers?
Edit: GOT THE DUB BOYS
Excellent work
i like
Big dislike because I’m hella jealous
I was thinking about that - Cam was asking for comments if one disliked this video - but how could one possibly dislike this video???
George, if you see my comment tell Luke he likes dogs
More clearance at the finish… do square blades
As you can see in part of the video there was some. At least my attempt at them which I need to work on!
Why don't you ever show yourself getting in & out of the boat? It may be instructive for followers.
I have made almost 1000 videos. I thought people would get bored of that! 😂
