    I find it kind of funny that at the beginning of The Beatles' career, Lennon and McCartney had this sort of duel through their songs on how they understood love, but Harrison eventually came and said "very nice points, guys, but it actually works like this" and wrote "Something"

      It's because he experienced the pain and passion in love and was finally able to express it through his guitar. You've never written a song in your life; can never write masterpieces without a passion of a sort.

      _Boulder to Birmingham,_ sung by Emmylou Harris, is close behind it.
      _For No One_ I'd place in somewhat a class of its own - a breakup, and we're all sober about it, feeling completely empty.
      Almost like, too depressed to even cry.

    Why does everyone seem to neglect the hell out of “Let It Be” as an album?
    There are some fantastic songs in that track list and yet many videos about the Beatles seem to just gloss over that album completely.

    • @jmorales09
      @jmorales09 5 років тому +29

      It's generally considered to be one of their weakest albums. The whole process of making it involved a lot of infighting and stress. So much so, that their producer (widely considered to be "the fifth Beatle"), George Martin quit on them.

    • @MrSpencerMcIntosh
      @MrSpencerMcIntosh 5 років тому +15

      Jonathan Morales ya but Ringo always says in interviews that he even quit for a while during the White Album recordings due to certain disagreements. So I don’t think that just because the process was bad that it makes the songs inherently bad.
      Songs like “For You Blue” and “Two of Us” are way too good of Beatles songs to just not cover them, not liking the album isn’t really an excuse in my opinion, but to each their own.

Mentioning more Mccartney songs would also fix the fact that the video (especially the second part) is accenting mostly Lennon's great love songs , which indeed are great, but the ones from Mccartney are definitely just as good.

      That is so cool to read! I'm a 62 year old professional musician, composer and music theory teacher. It always warms my heart when younger people like yourself listen to the Beatles and "get" them. They were remarkable in more ways than one. They literally changed the world because, not only was the entire world very much aware of them, but virtually the entire world were fans. If you want to be a great songwriter, keep listening to them. They taught me incredible lessons in music and composing. And because of them...I still believe that love can save the world.

    Great video but you missed out on a couple of things:
    I think that you could have brought up "Norwegian Wood" (however over-mentioned it is) because it's the first Beatles' love song that really had to be "deciphered" because of its Bob Dylan-esque lyrics. Rubber Soul also focused more on the bitter side of love than the happy one compared to previous albums. "Think for Yourself" and "I'm Looking Through You" are fuming songs aimed at whoever crossed George's and Paul's paths (also Bob Dylan influenced). Revolver also had a few more songs you could have mentioned. "For No One" and "Here, There, and Everywhere" are two of the Beatles best love songs. While "All You Need is Love" is a bit naive in its lyrics, "For No One" and "Here, There, and Everywhere" are more developed in song structure and lyrical complexity. The line "And in her eyes you see nothing/ no sign of love behind the tears/ cried for no one/ a love that should've lasted years" is tremendous. "Here, There, and Everywhere" was Paul's favorite (and John's favorite Paul piece), and its composition is genius in the way it uses one stanza of "here", then "there", then "everywhere".
    However, these are just my opinions and I thought the video was great.

  • @evan2105
    @evan2105 5 років тому +2

    "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Not sure why but that line is absolutely beautiful to me. Maybe it has to do with the fact that The End was the last song all four members recorded to together.
