I hope you are both very proud of yourselves. I've been teaching whitewater paddling for a few years and it's rare to see such willingness to try something difficult and scary. Not only that but you were clearly dedicated to getting the most out of it. Your progression was huge and that all boils down to your amazing attitude. Great work!

I would not call that a failure! You've shown a very interesting and quite technical sport, a good starting point for everyone that want to get into the sport. And you've actually come quite a way onto the main course in quite a short period of time. On top of that you've brought yet another epic video to us, your fans 🙂 And we really appreciate that!

Massively under rated sport. Used to be on GB juniors when I was a teen - there was no prospect for us doing it as a career back then. Wish the athletes got the support they deserve (maybe they do these days?)
@@thedude669 Support is much better I believe although very competitive as it's a battle for lottery funding if you don't want to have to sustain yourself financially which is won by making The GB squad/British Canoeing team for the different categories I believe. Although international race support is very good these days and the development teams are very supportive of paddlers.
@@thedude669 Yes the support has definitely improved I believe, however it's a battle for lottery funding if you don't want to self sustain yourself financially which is won by earning a place on the GB Squad/British Canoeing team which is very competitive. But the international paddling support is definitely very good and the development squads are well supported too.

Even better, canoe polo is a sport as well, it’s essentially water polo but in kayaks and it’s a contact sport. if you wanna see them do a wild sport, recommend that!

Yeah. River kayaking is very hard. It seems easy when you see people do it but once you're in the water. I also believe that Rob and Arno did pretty well for a first time. Perhaps one day they enjoy going on a 1 week expedition going down a river.
You can do it over and over again, It's called a river and the 'Ötztaler Ache' in Austria is one you could check out if you would want to try again. :)
this is unbelievably difficult to go even straight . I signed up for Kayak school at the end of the October, in third lesson injured my arm from temperature difference when rolled. I can not do the paddling movement at all now. I know exactly how these guys felt. Adrenaline rush dissapear very quickly and then only fear and the brain left :D
revisit this please. I did this as a kid and it's so much more fun when you get it. start in a pool. learn to flip back up when you're upside down. that way. you can keep going. spend one day learning the basic strokes in a pool. then hit the white water. though swimming the river is also kind of fun.
Regarding kayaking i only sometimes watch videos of Nouria Newman (former slalom kayaker and now mainly doing adventure wild water stuff). It gives some perspective on how hard kayaking actually is, while Nouria makes it often look effortless...
